Others will say this is in the mod dynamic lights but this should definitly be in vanilla along with some sort of mining helmet.
It's not a 'doomsday' scenario as you would call it. The only way besides merchandising and realms that Microsoft accumulates money from minecraft is from base sales. That only goes so far in this case as Microsoft bought minecraft for about 2 billion dollars. More money than minecraft made in sales up to
the point of that purchase. Pretty much every big name game nowadays makes money with each update in the form of dlc.
Microsoft has been generous enough to give us free updates, as it has always been...up to a certain point. As I said mojang itself stated that updates after release would require payments. The best way they could do that is for extremely major updates that pretty much change the game. Microsoft is a company. They bought minecraft as an investment. This would be the fairest way for them to return on their investment. I am actually being optimistic here.
Based on what did you get that information? Even if it were true my point remains valid.
Whats most likely going to happen is minecraft is going to be 'rereleased' at 2.0, branded as a new game, with many changes to core mechanics and possibly even graphics. Microsoft will probably charge for this. This will repeat at 3.0 and 4.0 most likely for decades. As long as they charge for every 10 updates, I don't see the game going anywhere.
While I think this is almost certainly going to happen, it's been stated by mojang even pre Microsoft that we may have to pay for updates after release, however notch also promised not to charge alpha users for new updates. If Microsoft goes against notchs words, great controversy will arise. The sales of these updates will take a hit, and the playerbase will go down with it.
A post-Apocalyptic steam-punk like universe where wheels were never invented.
As others have suggested I would hire the top modders, and add in the top suggestions like cubic chunks and the Aether/new nether. I would proceed to have the staff regularly check the minecraft forums suggestions, and consider adding some of the too suggestions.
I would have the expanded team use cubic chunkss to make worlds taller and deeper, with much more variety and ambience between different biomes, adding many specific mobs, sounds, blocks, and structures to each biome. I would add in more content to the end, and perhaps some late game tools obtainable only by boss fights.
As someone said I would actually enforce the EULA, warn, then shut down servers that do not follow those regulations. I would add more customization to realms, adding plugins and make it mod compatable. I would add an mcpatcher esque permanent fix to hd textures, and add in an optional shaders graphics setting. On top of that I would add optional 32x and 64x graphics settings for the vanilla textures.
Finally I would add in a vanilla steam esque mod launcher that allows simple mod installation without having to exit minecraft.exe. Also available in this program would be texture packs, custom maps, and mod packs.
Either make the recipe four shards or make fortune work on spawners. These shards alone would be incredibly lucrative to get, but with needing a mob head this feature will almost neve be used.
I don't see why this should not be added, it makes no sense for the enderman not to react to their mother/overlords death. And turning towards the player afterward gives an even better affect, like you are their new master. Maybe after you kill the ender dragon they are neutral to you.
It's balanced but it should be very expensive and endgame. Maybe end stone could be in the recipe to make a use for that, and perhaps a nether star.
edit: Didn't look at the whole thread. My bad. End stone should still have a use though lol.
The loot is not quite as good as it should be considering the rarity. Perhaps somewhere in the center there could be a diamond block, in a room guarded by a new mob, either an ice golem like some have said or something similar. Anyways, full support.
Better than most combat suggestions. I also suggest you explain the weapon speed for each new weapon you've included. Also if there is dual wielding there should be two handed swords and shields to balance them out. Example 7-12 attack damage very slow weapon speed (about one strike every five seconds), 6 block attack range.Knocks players back farther. If a player hits a shield they absorb anywhere from 15-40% of damage.
Also add this enchant:
lightweight: faster equip time, faster weapon speed.
And range: Adds 1-2 blocks of range
