posted a message on Do ravagers spawn in woodland mansion arena rooms?

There are Illigers in the mansion but they do not respawn there once they are contained or destroyed. No pillagers there though. I've encountered regular MOBs though until I lighted the area up more.

posted a message on Diamond Farm!!!!

Haven't mined specifically for diamonds since I built a trading hall. All diamond armor, weapons, and tools can now be bought. Some come with really wrong enchants, but they can be removed on a grindstone and desired ones added (via spell books also from trading hall).

I still mine the depths, but mainly for Lapis and Redstone.

posted a message on Endermans in mushroom biome.

True, trading and fishing combined pretty much make every important resource infinite.

But when Endermen remove things like crops or water/lava buffers, which can include random Netherack, that's an issue

But then getting that obsidian is hard without losing it to lava, plus you lose the free light and obsidian tends to absorb light so you need more torches than with stone. I never got why people do this, just block up the ceiling so you can't run into the lava and reassign item throwing to a key further from WASD than Q is.

If you have turned the surface of a lava pool into obsidian, you don't have to lose but 1 block total of it when mining. Just mine out a single block near the pool center which will generally be lost. Pour a bucket of water in the hole and mine away around the water edge never losing another block as the water converts the underlying lava before the blocks drop into it.

posted a message on Villagers getting Grey Clouds when breeding

Strange you say this about tracks. I have a rail circle right in the middle of my villager breeder and they walk across it constantly. Also have no trouble breeding, 6 beds and 6 villagers. Whenever I remove one, a little guy comes along the next day and soon I have 6 again. Trading hall (12 villagers now, 25 when fully populated is about 70 blocks away.

Did you add the tracks recently?

Mobs aren't supposed to be able to pathfind over tracks so perhaps the villagers aren't seeing the beds because the tracks are in the way?

(Sorry if you've already seen this, I don't know if you had already read my first post before I added it.)

posted a message on Cropland going back to dirt

Is there any particular thing that determines when a tilled block reverts back to just dirt? I seem to notice that blocks further from the water source, but stipp within 4 blocks, seem to revert more often.

Maybe he got out of the boat and drowned. I have had a cat drown in survival mode. The notice line even said "Cat drowned". Cracked me up.

Spruce seems to be one of the quickest trees to get lots of wood from fast...that would be perfect! The 4x4 spruce grow fast, have no branches, and provide tons of wood. I'd say you're lucky!

Oh, I don't have any trouble getting Spruce wood. In fact it and Birch are my major lumbering trees for charcoal and such. The problem is, I have a ton of Oak boards from mineshaft delving and would like to unload some of it.

posted a message on Flowers to Bees ratio?

How many flowers do you need to keep bees happy and at maximum production? Has anyone determined a minimum or optimum?

I'm pretty sure I've overdone it with 26 rose bushes and only 4 hives in my glass house and would like to remove most of these as they clutter up the place. Looks to me that several bees often go to the same flower and I doubt there would be a system saving their flower visit history. Also, are the 2 block flowers the same, better, or worse than the 1 block flowers?

posted a message on Easy way to enerate bee nests?

Well... You can certainly get bees in a snowy tundra biome because I just did, but it's probably not 5% chance by a darn sight. Out of 100 birch saplings planted near a Peony bush (1 empty block between) I got one bee nest. Actually that's all you need to start an apiery so I stopped.

As TMC points out it's statistics and probability. However. probability of not getting one in 100 tries is only about 6/1000, so that means it's not likely 5% probability.

@GeoFor Then the Minecraft Wiki lies? ;)

No the Wiki is just behind on updates. There are a lot of items that are not totally up-ro-date, but they generally get there after a year or so. This change happened in 1.14 I think.

Wrong. One of the tree walls I showed above is Spruce trees!

posted a message on Question about chunk borders

Is there something odd about block updates on chunk border blocks?

I'm raising sugar cane all around the edges of a small island and using this for paper to upgrade some librarians. I go across to harvest when I look across from my base and see all appear to be 3 blocks high.

Nearly every time, most of the cane along one side of the island, which lies on a chunk border, is only 2 blocks high though all the rest is 3 blocks. Only if I wait much longer (Double the time?) are the plants here all 3 blocks high. Are borders updated less often or is there another reason for this?
