posted a message on Getting the Mending enchantment

I've found one mending book in a dungeon and 2 from fishing in all the years I've played Minecraft not counting the AFK fishing days.. I've simply given up on putting mending on most things.

posted a message on Multiple repairs?

Feel I must have seen this somewhere but can't recall it. (Senior moment?).

I have repaired my 'Infinity' bow on the anvil by adding a new plain wood bow to it. Is there a limit to how many times I can do this?

Will it be because the price just gets too big to pay or some other reason?

    THANX:

posted a message on More iron?

Well, I'm still working that mine, and am now up to over a full stack and a half of irojn. all between layer 35-41. Still clearing out from the top down so it looks like I might get a lot more as I've barely started here

Garnet: I haven't played for about 8 months and am playing in 1.20.2.

posted a message on More iron?

Was there a change in the ore distribution schemes recently that I missed? I'm finding moref iron at shallow depth (35-38) that I havent seen in years. Just started a new world (Haven't been playing for a while) and am clearing a mineshaft in a sparse jungle biome. After only about 15 minutes, I already have over a half stack of iron from the mineshaft walls at 35-37 level. Not used to seeing iron like this above 16 level.

posted a message on Tips and Tools for Building 2D Circles and 3D Spheres in Minecraft?

I just use a compass on grid paper with the number of grids the number of blocks I want. and work from there. As you can see fron my avatar photo, I go into spheres and polyhedrons a lot.

posted a message on Eating habits / food requirements in Minecraft

I generally take a stack of bread or of baked potatoes along when I leave base and top off regularly as soon as the bar drops enough. Also carry a stack of steak for fast refill when in serious battle areas, especially as in cave-spider spawner clearouts.

posted a message on Can I change the nether portal location?

You can change nether locations easily if the new location is within the distance requirement of the overworld location.

I generally make a nether-ceiling tram system to travel large distances in the overworld. I make first portal to nether, then any way I can, I work my way up to the 120+ ceiling level and go over to the exact calculated equivalent realworld portal location. Build a portal there and then go destroy the one you came to the nether in. go back to the new portal and activate it and you're there. I always build portals at all major locations but don't activate them, then go back to the nether ceiling move to equivalent location build a portal and that's it.

You do similar at ground level in nether if desired, but the lava lakes make it a problem in a lot of cases. That's why I went up to the ceiling.

As long as I can still see to use a computer. 80 years old now so may have a few more years. Been playing for a couple of decades so why stop now.

Xaero'c world map will show all loot items on it. I can see my boat at the dock just fine. Just hunt for the loot dot. You can change colors to get an easy-to-see dot.

posted a message on Cut down on the caves?

Is there a simple mod available that will let me reduce the caves and underground voids by a great amount? I think about 15-20% of the current amount would be more than enough.

As of now (1.20.2) it seems like you can't dig in any direction underground without instantly hitting a void. Makes it near impossible to create a subway system of any size or complexity. and even large underground rooms require great effort to finish off with all the hole plugging that is needed.

Like but unlike the TheMasterCaver, my main interest is also underground but Mineshafts, not caves. I try to find them everywhere I can and empty them, then build extensive rail networks in the Nether ceiling (Above level 120) to give fast travel through a portal system at points of interest on the surface. I also try to find as many Strongholds as I can Last shared server I was on I had found all of them in ring 4 and was starting on ring 5 until they told me to stop and pruned back the world to get rid of all the extra area this had added. Still, I like mending on all my gear so I can basically ignore it.

First try on the Swamp villager went strangely weird. I built a nice village withe 3 houses with beds , a farm with Composter, and a Weapon shop with Grindstone. Then went over and kidnapped a Plains village unemployed.villager. When I released him in my new village, he stood still for a moment and then took off running and vanished into the distance. Never had this happen with a moved villager before. Guess I'll try again to see if this is going to continue.

Well that might explain why they seem rarer lately. I also tend to sleep a lot at night.

With how common villages are, I think transporting them is often the fastest route though (again, at least if you're not staying up all night, every night, as it may differ then).

I also sleep a lot except when I'm waiting for a crop or woodlot to grow. Always sleep when I'm long distance traveling. Carry a bed along and just drop it down at 18:30 and then pick it up and keep going.

Did Zombie villager conversion back a few MC versions. Only problem was they seemed fairly rare. I was playing then in a very hilly Biome with no villages within 1k blocks. took me an ingame week to get 2 of them to cure.

Surprisingly, there are 3 plains villages near my closest swamp biome. It looks though that a round-about via a water route will be easiest to get villagers moved even though it's much longer.. Up and down a few rivers in a boat is a lot easier than an overland route.

The swamp is really wild though, it is about half taken up by water falling into the depths like a whirlpool or something. Must have intersected a deep rift and the water is pouring into it. Only about 40% or less appears stable enough to build a village there.

Found a UTube about this. As suspected, it seems you have to breed up villagers for the Biome, and it isn't too straightforward as to what you'll get. Still going to try it.
