Could you imagine (in creative mode) you could have sideways beacons added with this? The adventure maps would be amazing, with real lazers in a sci-fi map, or real lazers in a spy map, perhaps better magic in a fantasy map.
OT:
Perhaps the different sizes of beacons create different amounts of light levels?
I like the concept art.
I think beacons should still only shoot upward, because otherwise, they're not much of a 'beacon' But I like the idea.
Dude, read the OP before posting. I for one, support this idea and can think of many uses for this. It would provide yet another use to colored glass and it's aesthetically pleasing.
I apologize for my skimming, I've been on a tight schedule. Now that I've properly read the post, I would like to still not support. A glass above a pyramid with a beacon is not as appealing to the eye as it seems. I would still prefer the beacon to have a GUI, for the sake of appearance, and to conserve space.
You would not have to use the glass with your beacon, only if you wanted to change color. Also, I prefer using the actual blocks because they are far easier to implement with redstone contraptions, which is another thing I was trying to do.
I've always wished Minecraft had more variety in potions, and I guess this adds a lot of different possibilities. I know that I would use this a lot, and it doesn't seem all that OP to me (as long as the potion durations get reduced somehow, like [duration/2] every extra potion added). Overall, it seems useful and fun. Support.
As of now, we have a plain old, white beacon. With the addition of colored glass, however, this could change. My idea: if you put a colored glass block over a beacon, the beam of light (coming from the beacon block) will change to that color.
This addition could be very helpful to people who are interested in PvP arenas with a capture the point type of game, to show who has control over a certain area. Also, it could just be used for decor, or to tell who's base it is (such as on a server).
[To keep it from being an annoyance to already constructed beacons, it could instead require 2 colored glass blocks above it.]
OK, I have used this mod since 1.7, and it is still amazing. However, there is one thing that is majorly an issue right now.
~The command block command "/gamemode 2 @p" or any other variations of it ("/gamemode 0 @p" "/gamemode 0 @a") are not working! I would really appreciate it if you could fix this, because right now I'm trying to make an adventure map and am having to switch between minecraft.jar's so i can use both my command blocks and world edit (+spc). Please fix this! Besides that, awesome job with everything else, it still works good (i think!)
Hey, just checking up with the mod and it still looks great! I'm liking the frost bow btw :3 There is something that I would suggest, and it's something I never got around to making, but could you make it so the Blazing Bow has a 1/2 chance to spawn a fire block where it lands, and a 1/4 chance to spawn an explosion where it lands. I was going to make this, but never had enough time. One more thing (you can ignore this if you don't plan on making any more bows), you should make a poison bow that adds a poison effect to mobs that it hits. PS: if you need help texturing, I can still do that, so send me a message.
Thanks for continuing!
Hey everyone, I will most likely not be updating this mod, mainly because of school and time issues. If there ever comes a time where i get back into modding and i have some free time, i will definitely update this to the latest version. But as of now, you can play the 1.2.5/1.3.1/1.3.2 versions as much as you want :/. Sorry guys, but still have fun!
Wow, i haven't check on this mod in 3 months and it has turned into something amazing. Great job Shadow and keep up the awesome work! I'm TOTALLY looking forward to the M3 release, i might even use it to replace IC2 as my machinery mod!
BTW i think everything you implement will be sweet, but conveyer belts should be able to go up a wall if it is crafted with a slimeball/tar

I agree! Thanks for support.
Exactly what I was going for, thank you!

I agree, but colored light would be very hard to implement with the current system of lighting they use. But... ah whatever just MAKE COLORED LIGHT!
