This sounds more like C4 then dynamite, as TNT is already dynamite even if it doesn't do the effects suggested.

Thats's a good point. I'll update the text.

I like this idea! But I think the recipe should have 2 gunpowder, not 1

Edit: Oh it uses clay? Awesome! If this is implemented we finally have a good use for clay.

The point was that if the player tries to take any of the blocks, they all turn into worthless (or downright lethal) materials, so the player is never able to actually collect any of the blocks. It's only good so long as the player doesn't try to take anything.

Oh woops misread that part :s
Still, isn't it basically the rune with pigmen?

Notch has said the moving light is impossible. It's not, (theres a mod that makes the torch give off light when held) But I don't see notch coding this.

I kind of like the idea, but some of them just seem silly. Like the rune and fountain. How about this though?

    The City Of Gold

Desctiption: An NPC village constructed primarily with Sandstone, Gold, and Lapis Lazuli blocks. Where there isn't an equivalent of normal construction using these materials, Nether materials will be used instead. In place of Testificates, it is inhabited by living Pigmen. It sits on an island in the middle of a lake, however there is a circular pit down to bedrock under it, resulting in waterfalls on both sides. A bridge on two sides connects it to land.

    Spawn requirements:
    1. Must be an unexplored chunk in a Desert, Forest, or Mountain biome.
    2. At least one other legendary structure must be generated first.
    3. The player must have crafted a map, compass, clock, and gold block.

Effects: Food items can be traded to the villagers in exchange for golden apples, and the blacksmith will exchange tools, weapons, and armour for their gold equivalents. The apples must be eaten within the city or they will turn into cooked porkchops (to differentiate them, city apples do not glow). If the player damages any block of the city, the inhabitants will be transformed into hostile Zombie Pigmen. Additionally, the materials of the city and island become a chunk of Nether. All dirt on the island becomes Netherrack (randomly on fire), and the sand becomes Soul Sand, sandstone turns to Nether Brick, Lapis to Gravel, and Gold bricks into lava. Unless the entire island is destroyed, it will begin being treated as a Nether biome and spawn Nether mobs, including Ghasts.

Notes: Until it is attacked, no mobs spawn anywhere in the city's chunk. Any hostile mobs not native to the Nether that set foot on the city island burn, even if they normally would not, regardless of time of day.

The rune is really just a sadistic addon, designed to aggravate the player at the wonders they could have. And the fountain is really just there to challenge players.

As for your city, I can't see a city of rare blocks being a good idea. The spawn requirements for such a thing would have to be MASSIVE. I mean like, owning 100 gold blocks, 60 lapis blocks, etc. A new player stumbling upon it would never have to mine deep ever again. Even the pigmen wouldn't be much of a threat now that bows are suped-up.

Meh. Personally I don't like mods when they are in such a grand scale.

posted a message on Dynamite (Not TNT)
C-4 is the precision equivalent to TNT. It doesn't carry the same level of explosive force, but it compensates by having a number of unique properties.

    1. C-4 does not fall when detonated. C-4 will stick to whatever surface it is attached to, and is not affected by gravity.

    2. C-4 will destroy blocks that are under water. When C-4 explodes under water, it will destroy nearby blocks that can be destroyed by it. Water blocks are not affected.

    3. C-4 can be delayed. Attaching a redstone repeater can be used to delay the explosion, allowing for tactical demolitions.

    4. C-4 can be attached to minecarts. This turns C-4 into a powerful weapons delivery system that can allow large-scale demolitions work to be done safely. Dynamite will detonate on a minecart only if a timer attached to it goes off, or if the mincart comes to a sudden stop with much velocity.

    5. C-4 has a smaller, more controlled explosion. The radius of a C-4 explosion is half that of TNT.

    C-4 is crafted this way:

    :Flint: :Spider: :Flint:
    :Flint: :GP: :Flint:
    :Flint: :Flint: :Flint:

Flint is clay and spider is string.

    Once you have made this, you will have 1 stick of C-4. You then need to make another two and place them like this;
    :|: :|: :|:
Where each stick is a stick of C-4.

posted a message on Potions - Auras
Auras are potions which have an aesthetic effect.
Basically, an aura potion is a potion which places a shimmer around you of a certain colour.
    Potions are made as such:
    1. Netherwart.
    2. Selected dye is added to the mix.
    3. Glowstone/redstone/gunpowder added as required.

What exactly is the purpose of these potions you ask?
Well, when applied to a player/mob, the colour of the dye used shimmers around them, similar to the shimmer effect of enchanting items. This lasts for varying degrees depending on potion strength.
This can then be used in PvP to distinguish opposing teams, to mark a specific player as a prime target (painting the enemy leader red for convenience).
But hang on, what use is it if an enemy hides behind a wall? Well, when combined with redstone, it allows that players silhouette to appear through up to 20 blocks, allowing him to easily be tracked.

I like the idea of rare structures.... But I dont think you should have to complete very rare tasks that arent in the players control. like killing a spider jockey

Killing a rare creature like that indicates that (in all likelihood) the player has been playing that map for a while. I don't want players to just be walking around only having just spawned to find a giant tree or the lair of [FILE REMOVED]. It just doesn't feel like a challenge.

    Quote from Piejamas

Ok, so just like a load of other suggestions, there's a big hole in this idea. The items are not randomly generated. Basically, this presents 2 problems. The first is that once you've seen one, you've seen them all, causing the game and the map to lose their appeal very fast. The second problem is that it makes the map feel a lot more man-made, instead of the natural random-generated feel of the current map (aside from the obvious villages and strongholds, which I'm still against, but that's beside the point).

These aren't going to exactly be littering the countryside. They spawn very rarely and over a very large area that players would need to spend large amounts of time searching for.
