A big smile across his face, he rubbed at the tips of his wirey moustache. "Eye lass! Can we expect to have your company tonight, these fine meads won't be drinking themselfs you know." "There's two things you can count on Mr.McGhee." She paused to make a final adjustment top her backpack. "That I will mine into the night, and that I'll return for a fine drink at your tavern after a days work." giving a wry smile, she nodded to the dusty old dwarf and continued on her way.
To start they spawn close to your original spawn point, so its only slightly random. As far as teleporting goes have you enabled cheats? If you havent then only YOU can perform teleport request. If you want to teleport them to you type: "/tp friendsnamehere yournamehere"
Truly mind boggling your GT330M has good benchmarks for a laptop and should be easily capable of playing minecraft at 60fps.
1) Things I'd check, have you got the latest java? 1.a) You have 64bit Windows, but do you have 64bit java? 2) Have you installed the latest nvidia drivers? 3) Open task manager when you play mc, check the processes and see whats hitting the cpu memory. 4) Your hard drive is pretty new but de-fragmenting it might help a bit.
Not sure if thatll help but its all that comes to mind.
Before I start let it be clear I agree mostly with the OP.
However as a whole I've had a very apathetic view of the updates. After 1.7.3 there became fewer and fewer added aspects I enjoyed. Some changes made me sad :< namely the move to a hunger based system (made the game too easy for me, even hardcore is a cake walk if you play safely). As far as the ''you don't have to update'' argument goes, it holds true to an extent , yet part of me says "Why should I have to remain on an older edition and miss out on certain aspects I enjoy whilst having to suffer the ones I dislike. I realize that is essentially cherry picking but I digress, I accept wholeheartedly that games change and I'm all for that, but for me personally it has been updating the wrong way. Minecraft has been lacking in one major area, that I honestly can't comprehend. Lets just analyse the games name for a second Minecraft
The actual mining aspect of the game (which i enjoy the most) has gone unchanged since early beta, oh wait they added one more ore(pretty useless too, since trading is usually not worth the effort, 2 emeralds for a bunch of crappy flint...so generous! A staunch man with wirey grey hair, he rubbed his mustache with his fingers.
"You look like you've traversed seven layers of hell boy! What brings you here?"
"I..I. *coughs* " After regaining his composure Breezy continued " I wish to join the NCR cause Sir"

After stating his intentions, and patriotism for the NCR, and how far he had traveled to get there, the male was left in dismay. After some more discussion he nodded and left the tent, leaving Breezy to getting some well needed rest!
Breezy was put through rigorous testing! For weeks he felt like he was ready to die! His body a broken mess of bruises, blood and ache from the training! It was what he wanted though and nothing was going to stop him! After enrollment into the NCR he was put through weapons training, his skill with a rifle did not go unnoticed having taken down several targets with clean and cold accuracy. It had been suggested that he serve with First Recon (Unparalleled in their marksmanship) However, with a rasp breath still hurting from the training - Breezy shook his head lightly, and pointed to a Ranger standing nearby.
Anyway I just throw this together real quick this seems like a server that will be great, nice to see someone actually use the real settings from New Vegas as opposed to alternate locations. As mentioned above if straight enrollment into a faction is not allowed then my character is simply leaving otherwise, he has either earned or about to start the training for the Black (Rangers.)

Lol love all the morally just crusaders you get on here! Pro Tip:
A ) Make it look like your mining a strip mine i.e also mine long chambers that lead to nothing.
B ) Alternately make sure the server is quiet.
C ) Thirdly, be patient, don't try mining 20 diamonds at once do it gradually over the course of an hour
D ) Try social engineering. Like "Wow! I hit diamonds, I've not been this lucky in ages" but refer to C also.

You are obviously very opinionated on this matter, which isn't a bad thing per say, it shows that you do actually care about the server as a whole. However the fact is we have allowed people to minor grief in the pass, and its a line that has to be tread carefully. Yet more often than not it spirals downwards into the usual spamming of chat and complaints about stolen good and griefing.
It's the difference between having your roleplayers being trusted enough not to go on sprees of griefing, or controlling your roleplayers with powergaming plugins that can save a person's life when they should be dying or keep their items untouchable when they shouldn't feel so safe.
Yes the plugin does bring issues of power-gaming, however as aforementioned by others the lack of this plugin would be detrimental to the server. If it were not in pace there would be no safe havens for players. Everyone feels annoyance at the fact that players are invulnerable but in a game where you die every other second, it's the best solution at hand. I say this not as a member of staff but as one of the players.
You say that we should trust our fellow players, and as much as I would like to, it frankly isn't viable. This may offend people, but I don't really give a monkey's fart, there are asshats on the server there always will be asshats. People enjoy doing bad things, I'm no exception. I have griefed in the past, I enjoy it and I will do it whenever I damn well please.
However as you said it's about self control, I wouldn't grief on this server because I now the repercussions outweigh the small joy I get from it. However not everyone feels the same way. One thing that I have learned about minecraft regardless of the type of server (rp,pvp,creative) is that as soon as you provide a means to grief, it WILL be abused.
To justifying it by saying "it's how we want the server to be," you're saying that you have a greater vision than your writers and that you're going to exercise your own powergaming notions in order to do "what's best."
It's not how we want it to be, it's how it has to be. If we were to allow total freedom the server would be a mess. It's difficult to provide a realistic RP experience when a lot of the time in game is spent hitting respawn. I don't think anyone here think's that their vision of the server is any more valid than an others, it's simply that to provide the best experience for the majority of the players, we need to enforce certain rules.
TL;DR - Rules are here for the benefit of the mass, we can't trust players to make the right choice!

I'll finishing by asking you something. What would you have the server do? It's all very well to sit there and tell us how we are ruining the server. Yet all I seem to get across from this system is you don't like factions because they constrict your ability to RP.
So I'll ask again. What would you do, to improve this situation?
I don't want you to think that I'm having a dig at you, because I'm not. All I'm saying is you have to bear in mind that rules are put in place to provide the most enjoyable experience for the majority of the users. I respect your wish to let your creative juices flow, I just don't think your going to find AAA Rp'ing in a game filled with mostly 12-16 year old's that revolves around blocks, and people with the ability to flatten a mountain with a rose.

Define Metagaming: Meta Gaming is the act (Which is punishable, with a beating of un-moist melons) of using information your character would not have (Often OOC) in character. (E.X asking for someones location OOC and using it IC to find them)
Define Powergaming: To power-game is to essentially tell others what you are doing whether they agree to it or not, or also something like: #ThatDaveLad handcuffs Game and beats him silly for touching his melons.

They travel the globe in search of mighty new styles for their beards and moustaches and new strains of ShortTop Leaf to smoke in their pipes. They are also some of the worlds best engineer's having invented some of the first mechanical agriculture machines (Mostly due to their lust for Short Top might i add!)
This is where our Biggs comes in! Heir to his father's company, who inherited it from his father, who inher...well you get the idea. He has set out into the world, in travel for many new Leaf's and potential business opportunities.
On a previous adventure, he had made aquitaince with his loyal friend and co partner Dave Kingsely. They had opened a business venture together and it was rather successful. Sometime later however he took of around the world in pursuit of pleasures. Meanwhile his young niece Christina was getting into all sort of troubles! On his return he bought his niece and her husband a small villa in the Palceonic mountains of Pangea. Once again he is ready for an adventure, pipe in hand and coin in purse!

After stating his intentions, and patriotism for the NCR, and how far he had traveled to get there, the male was left in dismay. After some more discussion he nodded and left the tent, leaving Breezy to getting some well needed rest!
Breezy was put through rigorous testing! For weeks he felt like he was ready to die! His body a broken mess of bruises, blood and ache from the training! It was what he wanted though and nothing was going to stop him! After enrollment into the NCR he was put through weapons training, his skill with a rifle did not go unnoticed having taken down several targets with clean and cold accuracy. It had been suggested that he serve with First Recon (Unparalleled in their marksmanship) However, with a rasp breath still hurting from the training - Breezy shook his head lightly, and pointed to a Ranger standing nearby.

Anyway I just throw this together real quick this seems like a server that will be great, nice to see someone actually use the real settings from New Vegas as opposed to alternate locations. As mentioned above if straight enrollment into a faction is not allowed then my character is simply leaving otherwise, he has either earned or about to start the training for the Black (Rangers.)

A ) Make it look like your mining a strip mine i.e also mine long chambers that lead to nothing.
B ) Alternately make sure the server is quiet.
C ) Thirdly, be patient, don't try mining 20 diamonds at once do it gradually over the course of an hour
D ) Try social engineering. Like "Wow! I hit diamonds, I've not been this lucky in ages" but refer to C also.
E ) ????
F ) Profit.
People can play minecraft however they please and I couldn't give a creepers but what you think!

Yes the plugin does bring issues of power-gaming, however as aforementioned by others the lack of this plugin would be detrimental to the server. If it were not in pace there would be no safe havens for players. Everyone feels annoyance at the fact that players are invulnerable but in a game where you die every other second, it's the best solution at hand. I say this not as a member of staff but as one of the players.
You say that we should trust our fellow players, and as much as I would like to, it frankly isn't viable. This may offend people, but I don't really give a monkey's fart, there are asshats on the server there always will be asshats. People enjoy doing bad things, I'm no exception. I have griefed in the past, I enjoy it and I will do it whenever I damn well please.
However as you said it's about self control, I wouldn't grief on this server because I now the repercussions outweigh the small joy I get from it. However not everyone feels the same way. One thing that I have learned about minecraft regardless of the type of server (rp,pvp,creative) is that as soon as you provide a means to grief, it WILL be abused.
It's not how we want it to be, it's how it has to be. If we were to allow total freedom the server would be a mess. It's difficult to provide a realistic RP experience when a lot of the time in game is spent hitting respawn. I don't think anyone here think's that their vision of the server is any more valid than an others, it's simply that to provide the best experience for the majority of the players, we need to enforce certain rules.
TL;DR - Rules are here for the benefit of the mass, we can't trust players to make the right choice!

I'll finishing by asking you something. What would you have the server do? It's all very well to sit there and tell us how we are ruining the server. Yet all I seem to get across from this system is you don't like factions because they constrict your ability to RP.
So I'll ask again. What would you do, to improve this situation?
I don't want you to think that I'm having a dig at you, because I'm not. All I'm saying is you have to bear in mind that rules are put in place to provide the most enjoyable experience for the majority of the users. I respect your wish to let your creative juices flow, I just don't think your going to find AAA Rp'ing in a game filled with mostly 12-16 year old's that revolves around blocks, and people with the ability to flatten a mountain with a rose.

Define Metagaming: Meta Gaming is the act (Which is punishable, with a beating of un-moist melons) of using information your character would not have (Often OOC) in character. (E.X asking for someones location OOC and using it IC to find them)
