The game is still run with java, it's just no longer necessary to have it on your computer, as the launcher takes care of that. The launcher itself will automatically run the game with the latest version of java, with it being on your computer or not. Mods are still written in java, the game still in java. The game didn't change to another format, it's all still java. When they say "you no longer need java to play", they don't necessarily mean the game no longer uses java.
I'm not the best at explaining things, but if anything I said is incorrect, please correct me.

SparkytheHellcat posted a message on Able To Have The Option To Turn Rotation for Wood Blocks Off.Posted in: Suggestions
So Your Telling me you would have no problem placing 2x the amount of blocks to go and cut half of it down again? such waist of time.
use this picture beflow for a reference on how long it might take to build this front side of the house. then try and calc the rest of the house with this sideways stuff.
Technically, you could build that, placing 0 support blocks. That's right, Zero. You could just place the fences first and walk along, placing the logs under them. And over half the logs are on other blocks anyway. Derp. -

GuyInJeans posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.Well, almost all of the people who actually made the game are still with the company, and I mean, come one, Microsoft may not be great with communities, but it isn't stupid. Microsoft isn't going to invest 2.5 BILLION dollars into something and then ruin it, they are well aware that the community has made Minecraft what it is.Posted in: Discussion
Besides, if they do ruin it, we own the game NOW, and can play it, they can't take the game away from us.
Quotes from the Mojang website:
Please remember that the future of Minecraft and you – the community – are extremely important to everyone involved. If you take one thing away from this post, let it be that.
There are only a handful of potential buyers with the resources to grow Minecraft on a scale that it deserves. We’ve worked closely with Microsoft since 2012, and have been impressed by their continued dedication to our game and its development. We’re confident that Minecraft will continue to grow in an awesome way.
Minecraft will continue to evolve, just like it has since the start of development. We don’t know specific plans for Minecraft’s future yet, but we do know that everyone involved wants the community to grow and become even more amazing than it’s ever been. Stopping players making cool stuff is not in anyone’s interests. -

BC_Programming posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.I have seen far more ignorance on this subject than I would have thought existed.Posted in: Discussion
First, suddenly everybody becomes armchair financial advisors. and corporate experts, when they have no idea how any of it actually works.
Second, The acquisition is unlikely to change very much. Too many people are ignorantly saying that Microsoft will focus on the xbox version and that they will cut off support for Mac/Linux. There is no prior art to cite that on and the fact is that Microsoft is not stupid. People like to say it, but it cannot be true. You do not become an industry juggernaught by fumbling around and making bad decisions.
If Jeb, Dinnerbone, etc don't like a change Minecraft wants to make, they can stonewall it. Microsoft cannot do anything about this. Unlike Microsoft's previous acquisitions often cited as Microsoft "Killing them off" (for example, when they bought rare after all the good people had already left and formed free-radical, which left the rare they purchased with pretty much just the people who knew how to make crappy collect-a-thons).... Dinnerbone and Jeb are very much in the public eye. They are actively tweeting about their work, and what they are doing.Unlike with Rare, Bungie, etc. They cannot simply replace departing employees or employees that give them a hard time. If they try to do that, the community will pretty much dissolve on it's own. So at least for the foreseeable future, Microsoft will almost certainly take a very "non-interference" approach. They can make suggestions, offer assistance, and keep their ear to the ground, but they are not going to jump in and say "oh we're rewriting it in C# also you guys are all fired and we're bringing in a team from XBox to rewrite everything for the Xbox one" or any other ridiculous theories people with overactive imaginations are cooking up. When they bought mojang they didn't instantly brainwash dinnerbone and Jeb- they almost certainly have their own reservations about the deal, but they might not realize that they are actually the more powerful party in the relationship here. Can anybody name any Rare Software Developer? I can't. They didn't tweet or interact. Dinnerbone and Jeb do- their absence would not go unnoticed and either quitting or being replaced would have significant negative impact. And again- Microsoft isn't stupid, they know this and they will do whatever they can to prevent that.
It definitely signals an end to an era for Minecraft and while there is a thin fog of uncertainty, it is not nearly as thick as people make it out to be.
Also worth considering- Microsoft Open Sourced their latest compiler release, Roslyn. And that was never really promised or considered previously. They are not some unchanging behemoth stuck in the past- they are not IBM, they are the upstart, agile company that screwed IBM over, and I doubt they 've forgotten that. Given the heavy role that the community plays in Minecraft decisions and how much people want that in light of the recent Bukkit self-destruction, they may ask that the Plugin API be given priority and provide the Mojang crew with any resources or people with expertise in the matter (remember, almost all of Microsoft's programs have heavy and commercializable extensibility). -

MokahTGS posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed. You know who is going to kill the modding community? The modders. I now count 3 big mods that have quit just based on the Microsoft deal alone. Nothing stated about what will happen. Just speculation and the hypothetical fear that "something" will change to kill Minecraft.Posted in: Discussion
The deal Notch made with Microsoft isn't sad. This community's response is. -

malkuth1974 posted a message on Could Microsoft be the end of the Modding Community? Can someone still explain to me why they think modding is dead in Minecraft? Sure Im not getting the connection. Other then maybe MS selling DLC. You can't sell another modders code without permission so the whole Mods are going to cost money is not going to happen.Posted in: Discussion
Other then some of the modders leaving because they hate MS. Whats going to happen? Even if we only ever have 1.8 to mod forever we still have 1.8. And all the older versions of minecraft. -

Greatone123 posted a message on Could Microsoft be the end of the Modding Community?I honestly hope they bought the game and don't touch it. At all. Leave it at version 1.8, stop adding content and fiddling with the thing. Then if the community doesn't kill itself with it's horrible attitude towards Microsoft we can have a decent less buggy game. The devs could catch up, and stabilize their mods instead of having to update every few months.Posted in: Discussion
Who knows, maybe they will allow you to make money on your mods as long as they get a %, ohhh that's horrible of them taking money from our devs! NO it's allowing anyone who wants to make money, do so, more than Mojang is allowing now anyway.
Either let the community grow on it's own or kill itself. Which I think it will kill itself before MS even touches the game lol -

Until the day comes (if it ever does) that MS really does something damaging (which I'm sure they'll try to avoid - $2.5 billion isn't small change) none of you are leaving, no matter what you say here. You'll all be playing tomorrow, next week, next month.... -

ScooterinAb posted a message on Microsoft Near Deal to Buy Minecraft Maker MojangThis is all ridiculous. Everyone needs to put down their pitchforks and torches for 5 minutes and use that squishy thing between their ears.Posted in: Discussion
1) This is a rumor. Nothing more. Companies probe and pitch deals like this ALL THE TIME. The majority of these kinds of deals go nowhere. This is a slow news day (at least in Canada, where the only stories on the news are about an ill mayor, 9-11 and ISIS, and something about a cat), so any news is going to be jumped on like a hawk. Minecraft is well known by the media, and thus is probably being followed in hopes that something new happens that can be reported on.
2) Microsoft is one of the largest and most successful tech companies in the world. Despite popular opinion, it is not a company run by idiots. Why on earth would the company pay an alleged 2 billion dollars for the game and property, only to turn around and destroy it? It would make no sense for the company to purchase Minecraft only to burn it to the ground. Microsoft would take efforts to protect their investment, not destroy it with petty greed. They would be buying a captive customer base and would not be so narrow sighted as to destroy the property and alienate that customer base without reason.
3) A Microsoft Minecraft does not immediately signal the end of the world. I have no idea where people are getting these ideas that mods, servers, skins, and existing content will shrivel and die if the game is bought. Someone made a comment about Microsoft removing crafting from the game from non-Premium customer. Nonsense. Minecraft is a game about crafting. Removing crafting from the game means removing the game itself. Stop saying stupid things like this out of panic and hate.
4) If Notch/Majong/Whoever is selling the game or the company, there is probably a reason for it. We are their customers and their fans, but we aren't privy to the inner workings of the company or the behind the scenes discussions. If the game or company is legitimately up for sale, we simply don't know the reasons why and shouldn't be vilifying anyone for it. While you might be upset by such a decision, that decision isn't yours to make. We all like Minecraft, but it doesn't belong to us. If the owners wish to sell it or their company, it is theirs to sell, right or wrong, good or bad.
Relax, use your brains, and think critically about this. While a Microsoft deal may be good or bad for the property, Microsoft isn't going to actively destroy the property or take any other petty actions that are being talked about here. But at the end of the day, these are all rumors during a seemingly slow news day, where everyone seems to be overreacting about the story. Mojang and Minecraft haven't been sold until the company says so. - To post a comment, please login.

There is also the ITEM ID, which is 372.
You can STILL give your self the nether_wart Item, but no longer the Block.

I guess the april fools resource pack is now entirely removed?
(*grass**grass**dirt**dig*dig*)

Just one question though.
Once you've put the items into the system. How does the player gets his items back?
Would otherwise be a costly trip upwards. Several dozen diamonds just to reach a certain floor, just to realize you needed to be on another one.

Heck! I even have it open in a browser tab while playing minecraft, so I can search certain things on the fly.

A better option would then be to have a redstone BLOCK underneath the rail that needs power.

a video?
Details on HOW it works?
And don't tell me to download the world file to find out.
I want to know this BEFORE I download anything.

Nope. Read the FAQ
If what you say would've been true, then changing ones name to Dinnerbone in 1.8 would be possible.
The FAQ states you can't.
In relation to the Topic.
I am definitely KEEPING my current name.

I'm really annoyed by the joke sounds now, but I don't want to turn all sounds off. :/
So I don't want custom sounds, I want the default sounds. (I consider the current villager sounds custom)
