I just make sure the out side has less blocks leading from the door than the inside ceiling and the outside has to have no blocks all the way up the sky. if my house has an inside of say, 5 blocks, the n the outside of the door has to have 4 or less
the side with 5#'s would be seen as the inside as long as the 5 th blockspace on the other side has no blocks all the way to the sky.

this works for ravines that are open to the sky. i have a walkway carved out 3 deep on each level in a ravine, once I carve out homes, i just make sure the inside has more blocks for ceiling than the 3 on the walkway and i don't put a door where there is a bridge above it crossing the ravine.
this method seems to work for me to get more villagers to expand an npc town
I use 2 p-rails every 30 blocks on flat stretches and 3 on the bottom of a slope- 2on the flat part and 1 on the incline. then I place 3 normal rails and 2 p-rails alternating up the slope. at the top, I have 2 p-rails, 1 on the slant and 1 on the top flat. keeps speed persitant once it hits the incline and you don't have to have p-rails the whole way up. I think 3 regular rails is the limit between powered going up a slope, I tried with 4 and it slows right before I hit the next p-rail.
Ok, so now we are back to generator chunk errors??
I play larger biomes, the rivers are real long and don't have as many broken sections. I was exploring a river near my area to see how big it was. going north, you can see its fine. it leads to a jungle and you can see my main villiag an the farm below it on the right of the pic.
then I decided to head back and explore the south leg of the river, and hit these beauties-
the thing is, I explored that desert to the south already, the whole perimiter and there was a plains biome south of it. my save got corrupted a month ago and loaded a back up from before I explored the desert. now I go there again and all these chunck border errors and jungle and ocean is now south of the desert.
so, some how while playing, the terrain generator decided to spaz out.
somehow while trying to install this snapshot, along with the previous error, my large biomes world was changed to default causing these chunk errors. I had to use nbtedit to change the generator name back to largebiomes and mcedit to remove the offending chunks. I just reloaded the game and now my world looks normal again.
Other than the signs not keeping their text bug, the only thing I've noticed is that I sometimes can't pick thing up that are on the ground. For example, I saw a Skeleton die in the sun and drop an arrow and I couldn't pick it up. I literally stood there for like 2 minutes and couln't pick it up. My inventory wasn't full or anything.
I saw that too. its like the data for the item and the image is in two different locations. example- I was chopping down an oak tree when I saw a sapling under the decaying leaf blocks. I went over to collect it but it could not be picked up. I even jump on it and took a few swipes with my sword. directly above it was a leaf block that didn't decay yet. when I broke the leaf block, I suddenly collected the sapling on the ground. so its like the game had the sapling data up on the leaf block, but was showing the image on the ground. I have noticed this with block drops as well as mob drops.
if you come across this, try breaking blocks nearby to free the drop.
It appears that the compatibility with 7zip is somehow affected by this folder. Other snapshots work fine.
its a file in the zipped jar. if I just try to extract the snapshot, I get a similar error. when I open it up and scroll down to the aux.class file, I can't copy it, move it or open it, but when I try with the files next to it I can do all those things easy. when I open up the week 26 snapshot, that file is not even there. wierd.
I even tried to delete the aux.class file from the snapshot and installed it but it stays at the black screen after "done loading"
i use 7zip, open two windows- 1 with the snapshot and 2nd with the minecraft.jar. ithen click on the snapshot one where it says edit and click select all. then I drag it over to the window with the minecraft.jar and just drop it in. it will ask if i want to copy and replace (y) and done.
the only option is to press done. I f I launch minecraft it gets stuck on the updating screen. if I try to reinstall previous patches, the install via 7zip no prob, but mine craft still gets stuck on the updating screen. if I force update it will load the game but now I can't get it working with any snapshots and I can't play the world in 1.2.5 since it uses a lot of snapshot stuff.
I'm on large biomes, spawned close to one edge of an extreme hills. got plains and desert to the north w/ villages in each and another desert to the south with a bunch of villages and pyramids. jungles only have temples in them.

so, computer experts know how we can use this snapshot with this error? or point me in the right direction?
hope this next snapshot will work. I broke a lot of boats exploring that river!

I deleted minecraft, deleted .bin, deleted .jar, forced update all over the place, nothing is fixing it.
