May 3, 2011GDMProductions13 posted a message on If YOU could force Notch to add a new mob what would it beI have to go with Goblins. I love them, and this game feels all kinds of incomplete without them. Whether they're passive, aggressive, or bi-polar, they would be an amazing addition. On their own they wouldn't be too strong, but they can use tools, and work as a group.Posted in: Discussion

As said before, Minecraft got a 3D world and is a more "build" game while Terraria is a 2D sidescrolling game and have a lot of action like dungeons, many different kind of monsters, bosses, a lot of items etc etc.
Quote from KingOfElf »I saw yogscast do a video on that game. Does not look like its anything more than a 2D rip of minecraft.
Really? Rip off? So every mmorpg game that is released after world of warcraft (yes I'm going to use wow as an example) is a rip off? It's called a GENRE. A Genre have to start somewhere.
I've been playing Minecraft for some time now and It's a great game but that doesn't mean I can't like Terraria... I will buy that game as well and I'll probably switch on and off between those two games, until a new game is developed in the same genre.
So you like/dislike Minecraft/Terraria, it's your own opinion, but stop ****ing comparing those games or saying that one of them are a rip off, you have no ****ing clue.
I can't believe that I am agreeing with someone's first and only post, but yes. That exactly. Although, WoW was a total rip off of Everquest, which was a rip off of Ultima Online. Which in turn was a rip off of D&D. So, "rip off" doesn't apply in the game industry.
On topic: Terraria and Minecraft aren't the same game, in any way. Terraria is not a "2D Rip off of Minecraft." It is a 2D Sidecscroller, with RPG, and low building aspects. Its like saying Fallout 3 ripped off Elder Scrolls III, or IV. They have some of the same ideas, but are put to totally different uses. I will be buying and playing Terraria, because at the moment, no offense to Notch, it is the game with better adventure. Although, if I want to build, and mine for countless hours (which I find fun and relaxing) I will always choose Minecraft. Also, Terraria has a sheer lack of friendly mobs. While Minecraft has 5. And 4-5 hostile mobs. Terraria has (at this point in development) 29 unique enemy mobs. As well as fun variants of each type. So, as for adventure, it will be much more fun. But it is in no way a rip off.

I never thought of this, but there is no way to be sure. Honestly, I strongly believe it will be a spider drop, and nothing more, but if it does appear in the world naturally, that definitely is a possibility.
I believe it will be like leaves, to be honest.

You WILL die from it. You just won't as soon as you land in the web, as soon as you hit the ground you take the fall damage.
Thats a shame... maybe he will change that once it gets released.
Not only do they slow you down, and not break your momentum, you still gain momentum while falling in them. I tested this by covering the whole side of my tower in webs, and having my friend walk into the top, and for about 10-15 minutes, fall, slowly, to the bottom. When he hit the bottom of the webs (Even though he was in webs the whole time) he died.

You spawned in between a whole ton of trees :ohmy.gif:
No. He, like I, started in Indev. In which, you had a pre-made wooden hut, that you spawned in.
Apr 29, 2011Map? What map? Also, I finished the Jail. Its nothing special, and I'll probably work on it more. But for the base premise, it is fine. http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/5669656093/ It sucks. Keep suggesting more!Posted in: Survival Mode

Btw, love your avatar. I'm known for my animosity towards sheeeeeeEEEEEEEP!!!!
I bear no animosity for the sheep. They're my best friends, as well as my Skin is a sheared sheep. But they always sneak their way into atleast one picture, in every batch I upload.

exactly like going in circles picking up the gravel you just dropped, as I said, built on the same concept! XD
But, but, but why STONE? Stone makes no sense, as there's nothing extra you can get from Stone. All you can get is Cobble. Maybe you don't understand, but flint is a rarer drop from gravel. That's why this mechanism is being thought of. Could you please explain why you want this with stone?
Apr 29, 2011Posted in: Survival ModeQuote from rougew/fire »Quote from GDMProductions13 »Quote from rougew/fire »brillant! could something like a stone to cobble stone converter be built with this concept?
Um, that's called mining. Stone doesn't have gravity, and can't break if it can't fall. You gotta stay in those deep mines, sorry buddy.
yes but thats redundant if the stone's in your inventory since you already mined and furnaced it, therefore this you be a great system in multilayer if you had two carts on the loop, front cart placing and back cart mining!
.............What? Why? What does this accomplish, aside from wasting the coal to smelt stone from cobble, the iron for carts and the tracks, and time. You waste a whole lot of time.
