Awesome! Where's the party hat & noisemaker smiley? YES! I'm glad there was enough push behind this to make it happen. Now I really look forward to TU13.
Agreed. It will make the "bug fix" update into an event to look forward to.
It's pretty cool actually. I agree with whomever said they think it's great for creative but not so much survival. I expect that some creative folks will make some pretty awesome builds with this. That said I've only spent about two game days so far and it's been enjoyable. I keep mining blocks just to see what they really are. I want a Skyrim pack now or something along those lines. Looking at the Twitter posts it almost seems like 4j is hinting that Skyrim is in the works. They made mention of the Elder Scrolls port that they did and have posted that they love Bethesda and that Skyrim is one of the top requested Mashups. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but they don't usually post things that are too random. Wishful thinking?
I don't think you comprehended my message. I meant 4j will have to respond to the demand for this type of texture even if they create it in house. It won't be doku but something in that vein.
To answer the OP question i would rather be in a room with an Enderman especially if I just spent time and resources building said room but I'd rather be out in an open field with a creeper.
That is a shame. Doku is a great texture pack. I think we'll see something in that vein however whether 4J created or not because there is simply demand for this type of texture pack. I'll have to start tweeting 4J incessantly until they relent.
I make it a point to start a new world anyway after every update, just in case something 'breaks'. But the guy does have a point; one would expect 4J to test these things out for light glitches, etc. before releasing to Microsoft.
In software development there is always a point where you have a go/no go decision on the implementation. You review known defects and determine if they are "no go" items, prioritize them and determine what will be let through and worked as a break-fix afterwards and what must be fixed before go-live. Sometimes the pressures of making a release date outweigh small inconvenience type defects and you move forward. I'm sure that everyone would rather have TU12 in August and have a follow up TU13 bug fix than have to wait until Sept for a more bug free TU12.

I thought it was half your age plus seven years rounded up to the nearest year...Wait. That's the girlfriend cutoff age. I always mess that one up.

Tweet from 4J regarding rail speed: "We'll be changing the minecart speeds to twice the current speed in TU13. MOAR Rollercoasters!"
