posted a message on Making minecraft challenging
    Quote from razourik

NOTE: When making a server/starting a game, this option of a gradual challenge should be able to be turned off and on.

You know when you build up lots in minecraft and there's just not that many enemies? Perhaps you have all diamond items and a large castle, but no army of monsters attacking it? Don't you wish that once you had everything in the game, there would still be a challenge?

Well, what minecraft should have is a gradual challenge. Basically, after every day, the amount of enemy MOBs that would spawn at night will increase slightly. So perhaps every 2-3 days, another enemy will spawn, and eventually, there'll be a large amount of enemy MOBs around.

Of course there'd be a limit. If you've set the gradual challenge to be on, you can change it to be off at any time, and keep it at the amount of spawnage its at, OR you could change the spawnage number yourself by typing in/changing the number in the pause menu. :biggrin.gif:

I kind of see what you're getting at.
Its like that Director AI from Left For Dead.
If you do pretty well, then more monsters would spawn and it would be harder.
If you're doing very bad, then the Director would lower spawn rate of mosnters.

Your doing whatever it takes to make it seem like your idea sucks less huh.

Its a thing called a joke.
You know, a thing that someone says to cause amusement.

    When back OT:
This is a pretty bad idea. No offense.

Did I miss something? The Nether has no sand, and if you want sand than GTFO of the the Nether and walk 100 blocks or so and there will be a beach... A.K.A. sand.

I believe that he means traveling via the Nether to go to somewhere really far away

so if somone looks for a long time and goes thrue the nether to go to new arias countless times serching far and wide and has no sand (mostly from using it all) that would be lazyness?

im not talking about lazyness here, im saying if they used so much of it even going thrue the nether took forever to find sand, this would be an alternative methood insted of having to travel forever to find what they need

Not much people would use that much sand.
And if someone actually did that, then that's a lot of sand you have there.

Wait, aren't pearls collected from clams? Not a ore?
I proprose that there should be clams then.
They don't really have to be a mob, just a block with two forms (like pumpkins).
One form has a pearl, the other doesn't.
And the pearlless form will turn into the other form after some time

I think you can also have a sand block between the pressure plate and the TNT and it will still trigger.

Yes, pressure plates can send power to the blocks its placed or the block under the block its place on.
Sand and gravel very useful for pressure plates as when the TNT is activated and becomes an 'entity,' the sand/gravel falls down, causing a trapdoor for the player to fall to the TNT

Lol, if these mobs were introduced, some inexperienced players would have difficulty dealing with these mobs.

As I said, they may not seem large, but think about it:
You have a community of almost a million players on at any one time.
You have to update gametype settings, add new maps, likelihood of a certain gametype, likelihood of a certain map, update maps already in, all while players are going through games, having a blast, and players are jumping in and out of games. Sounds hard, doesn't it?
    Well, somehow they do it.
If Bungie can, considering what Mojang already does, I think they can do it. The only main difference is that Bungie is a major developer, and Mojang isn't as major. But, should Minecraft for PC go well enough, I hope they consider Minecraft for XBox and PS3.

I dont know much about putting games in XBox, but I'm pretty sure that a small team like Mojang can't really put Minecraft on XBox even if they wanted to.
Another thing is that the games are hosted by community players and servers OTHER than Mojang.
All Mojang has to do is have a server for account logins.
    Also, what CJSinc said.

Don't slap me in the face for my lack of knowledge on servers and consoles :SSSS:

    posted a message on Salt
    Quote from Slantzalot

So, I'm new to Minecraft (and here) and I don't know if something like this exists in the game already, but I thought of something simple that could make a bit of a difference to people who like snowy biomes. Salt. Not only could you use it in making food, but you could add it to bodies of water that you don't want to freeze over when it snows. I love adding pools/rivers/lakes/waterfalls to places that I build, but in the snow, it just turns to ice and I would like a way to prevent that. Like I said, it would be a small addition but to people like me, it would make quite a big difference.

    That.
Is actually a pretty good idea :iapprove:

Like when you dont want water to freeze, but dont want to add torches, you add salt!
Another use for salt is for preserving food if Notch ever adds that hunger mode :biggrin.gif:

One problem, how will you be sure which water source has salt, and which doesn't?

Large oceans should have salty water.
