Really? That certainly is interesting. According to Notch, "If you hold food in your hand, they follow you around. If you feed them, they enter "love mode". Two animals in love mode = babies.". I guess that's how that works.

After I downloaded this, instead of there just being a minecraft.jar file in the bin folder, there was also a file named minecraft-1.8.1.jar. What is this file, and did MCPatcher install it, or am I just being stupid? Also, what would happen if I delete this file?
Texture packs, possibly. Playing with a higher res. texture pack could cause the game to lag. (Ex. Using a 64x pack instead of the default 16x pack.) Your video Settings also make a big difference.
