Y'know, land-claim flags would fix or alleviate most of those problems.

Land claim flags, as far as I know, were never meant to provide building protection. All that I've heard Notch say they'll do is keep monsters from spawning or disappearing.

Look harder, then. It says quite clearly that they'll prevent other players from building in that area, and from this we can assume that it will prevent them from destroying too, since otherwise it would make no sense.

When enchantments come out, mob spawning should be an enchantment you could add to the bow. This is just so awesome.

Also awesome is the fact that you can build a huge tower and fire arrows around the top to spawn monsters that fall to their death two seconds later.

    Interesting side note from this:
I found a pool of water at the bottom of a map once, with a pool of lava under it.
Like, water directly on top of lava. It was bizzare. I cracked through to a cave, saw a lake, then realized the lake was GLOWING.....
Tried to go farther down, and realized I was at the bottom. The water would only put out the lava if I added/removed a block, and only around the block I changed.

Everybody knows about this, and it has been said so many times that it's not even funny any more.

It's caused because block physics updates don't happen when a map is generated and only come into effect when blocks are deleted or built next to them. This can result in floating sand and gravel too.

Hopefully one day Notch will make an in-game screenshot hotkey.

actually, if you press one of the F buttons, it screenshots for you. I'm almost positive.

You might be thinking of the isometric rendering thingy, which takes a large screenshot of the whole map, but it's useless for showing any close-up details or when whatever you want to take a screenshot of is underground. I think it's F11 or F12. I could be wrong though.

I was kidding for the most part about using partially transparent textures to cheat. :P Maybe from time to time I'll use it for fun, but it's incredibly impractical and ugly to be used for anything other than stealing and easier ore finding, and I certainly won't be devoting a particularly large part of my time in MP doing just those two things. :P

I have already made a texture that makes just about every block except chests and ores have little windows in them.

    This will be so fun.

There is one new painting (4 blocks wide and two high), but chairs have been there for a long time, and at least before day / night.

Don't see any new painting anywhere... :P

There is also a skin for a dragon mob.

But yeah, I would like pictures.
Oh god. My air bridge between my 5 bases is no longer safe D:

Unless it's stored somewhere extremely odd at the moment, don't worry, he's lying. :P

But yeah, this has been known about for a long time.

posted a message on Gold (money)
Well, Notch did say that there could be NPC villages eventually, though if you can buy anything from them I think gold ingots should suffice.

Also, while gold is useless right now, it'll be useful for when enchantments come out as Notch said that probably only wood, gold, and diamond tools would be enchantable, and he's considering making land-claim flags require gold too when they're released.

Leaves start vanishing if they aren't attached to anything other than leaves that also aren't attached to anything other than leaves. If one part is attached to the ground or a building or something, they'll stay as bushes. I'm pretty sure it isn't a glitch.

Just so I can have a complete set. Also, just got it, and setting mobs on fire doesn't work. And fire doesnt spread except for trees.

Dunno why setting mobs on fire doesn't work for you, but it worked the last time I tried it a few days ago, and I don't think there's been an update since then. Also, fire can spread on chopped-up wood and cloth as well. :P

posted a message on Lava/Adminite Glitch
It seems like it'd make a lot more sense to spawn the lava above the adminite, then, instead of replacing the adminite with lava. I'm pretty sure the fact that you can sort of tunnel through the adminite to hell is a glitch though. :P

posted a message on Lava/Adminite Glitch
Alright, so a while ago I decided to try digging one of those large tunnels straight down for mining rather than using mining passages like I normally do. I got maybe a couple coal ores before reaching the bottom of the map, built a staircase back up and decided to never try that again. I forgot about it for a while, and the next time I saw it, the bottom was filled with lava. My first thought was that there had been some Creeper/Skelly infighting, but when I drained away the lava with torches, I found that there were no exposed caverns that the lava could have leaked from. What's more, I found out that the bottom layer of adminite was one block lower in my mining pit than it was everywhere else, and came to the conclusion that exposed adminite turns to lava when saving and reloading, and by clearing away that lava, you could sort of tunnel through adminite. Eager to see how far down I could tunnel before the game started breaking, I did this again, and upon draining, discovered that there were now two layers of lava at the bottom, but unfortunately I couldn't build below the second and thus couldn't drain it. Some sort of graphical glitch showed something curious when I placed blocks and torches in certain positions, however: Below that layer seemed to be an endless drop into the sky. After exhausting every possibility of draining that second layer away, equipping myself with a large stack of meat and some slightly less broken armor, I jumped in, and was greeted with a familiar sight to all who have tunneled to the bottom on Infdev: Lava all around me, and a slowly advancing moon. Even while consuming at least 10 chunks of meat a second, I quickly died.

I'm a bit too lazy to get pics, but here's a link to the save. (You'll have to do some lava draining yourself, since lava always seems to come back after I drain it. After you can't drain it anymore, jump in for that hell scene far more commonly seen in Infdev.)

    Lava-Adminite Glitch

Also, mucking about with this seems to have made bedrock layers strangely uneven even in the pit. I think this can be attributed to me not deleting some stones left over from lava draining, but it's convenient since it'll provide a nice foothold.)

Sorry if this has been discovered already.
