Just dig a one slot window in, and if the mobs aren't skeletons just kill them quickly enough to get inside and place torches around the outside of the spawner. If it's skeletons, just drop in there, kill 'em quickly, then do the torches
Truthfully, I've never actually made a mob trap. In fact, I usually avoid mobs and focus on building. But occasionally I am forced to fight, and other times I simply run from the hordes of creepers that somehow show up
It's because of the abundance of cobblestone most miners get when searching for ores, and because it's the new trend. One of the main reasons that people build castles is because they've seen people build castles, which pressures them to make a castle as well. It's a never ending cycle of constantly constructing castles. Looks awesome, though

I'm pretty sure most servers have some sort of a mod that forces you to spawn in that set location, unless you over-ride it with a bed. I have not personally asked a server owner/admin myself, but I'm sure if you did they'd be happy to tell you.
I used to fear Creepers...in my second world I was trying to build a glass house over a pool of lava, it was fairly deep in a mountain. The house was almost done, too, it was like a large flat platform of glass with a pool of lava about twenty blocks below. But I knew I would be attacked, eventually, considering I had it on Hard mode. So I set up TNT near the front and back entrances, so when a group of mobs attacked I could blow 'em away.
And one night a horde of them came. Well, more like ten on each entrance. But I didn't need the dynamite, I cut em easy with a diamond sword. It was pathetically easy. So I went back to collect the dropped stuff when a creeper jumped out beside me. I stood there, frozen. We were right next to the TNT. And then it exploded. Luckily, TNT has a couple seconds of a fuse, so I managed to get a couple steps inside before it exploded. And all the glass underneath me was broken.
All of my Diamond gear was destroyed, burned in the lava. I just got rid of that world, I was so sad.
I don't think there are, you're just gonna have to know which spot in the hot bar you put the food in, so you can hit that key quickly, right click, then hit the key your weapon is in to continue fighting. Either that, or just fight at really long range from now on
I didn't think you could trademark a single word, I thought Bethesda could only trademark the phrase: "The Elder Scrolls" or just "Elder Scrolls" not the word scrolls itself. Does this mean Bethesda is gonna sue the creators of the bible and the dictionary, too?
