What is the problem you are having? Is it something that other mod developers should be aware of?
i am having a little trouble getting this to work. i have modded minecraft before with no issue, but for some reason this does not work I've even tried setting the length to 1000 and it still doesn't change please help.

Never mind, i fixed the problem. The RenderGlobal fix should work. My problem was that i was using a torch and smoke particles for testing, and the randomDisplayTick that spawns the particles wasn't being called when i was outside of the 16 block range. if you would like to change this, do a search for randomDisplayTick in the WorldClient class and change the byte that is equal to 16, to what ever you want.
What i want to do, is create a mod, so that particles are visible from farther away than the normal 16 blocks. I have tried seemingly everything that i can find with no prevail. If anyone has any information that would be beneficial to me please comment bellow, thanks!

Entity.renderDistanceWeight - variable
Entity.isInRangeToRenderDist(double) - method, particles are rendered differently, but this works with mobs
RenderGlobal.spawnParticle/func_72726_b - method, i thought this was going to work for sure, but nothing. the reason is there is a check between the location of the player(viewingEntity) and the location the particles are being spawned at. Also there is a variable it checks against that was set to 16.0D max. was really surprised that didn't work.
