When I saw Danori's GUI, I got in the mood of making some too. I'm going to make a custom Minecraft Logo and EXP bar later.

Hey guys, these tutorials will hopefully help a lot of people with their texturing. If there is something odd or wrong somewhere in this thread please notify me.

    Dirt

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter colour and make your brush/pencil transparent, then start making round shapes.
Step three: Choose an even lighter colour and highlight the shapes to make them stick out.
Step four: Choose a very dark colour and shade under the shapes to make them stick out even more.

Optional: If you think your texture looks plain, try adding a noise filter. Don't use too much noise!

Note: This dirt is really dark, you might want to make yours lighter.

    Sand

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter colour and make your brush/pencil transparent, then make some curvy lines.
Step three: Choose an even lighter colour and highlight the lines to make them stick out.
Step four: Choose a very dark colour and shade under the lines to make them stick out even more.

Optional: If you think your texture looks plain, try adding a noise filter. Don't use too much noise!

Note: The sand tiles really bad, but it's just for demonstration.

    Wood

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter colour and make your brush/pencil transparent, then make some lines.
Step three: Choose a very dark colour and shade by the lines and on the sides of the log.
Step four: Choose a light colour and add some more lines, don't make them too bright.

Optional: If you think your texture looks plain, try adding a noise filter. Don't use too much noise!

    Planks

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter colour and make the planks
Step three: Choose a dark colour and shade on the bottom.
Step four: Choose a light colour and add some highlights, then choose a dark colour and shade under the planks to make them stand out more.

Optional: If you think your texture looks plain, try adding a noise filter. Don't use too much noise!

    Stone

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter colour and make your brush/pencil transparent, then start making round shapes.
Step three: Choose an even lighter colour and highlight the shapes to make them stick out.
Step four: Use the light colour and brush a little in the darker areas to make it look smoother.

Optional: If you think your texture looks plain, try adding a noise filter. Don't use too much noise!

    Pixel Art Stone

Step one: Choose a dark base colour.
Step two: Choose a lighter color and make the shapes.
Step three: Choose a colour that's between the dark and the light one, and draw on the sides of the shapes.
Step four: Choose a very light colour and outline the top of the shapes so it looks more 3D.
Step five: Choose a little darker colour and highlight the shapes.

    Ore (Embedding)

Step one: This is supposed to be the stone you've created.
Step two: Make the shape of the ore.
Step three: Choose a light colour that will be visable on your stone and make lines under the ore.
Also choose a darker colour and make lines above the ore and some cracks.
Step four: Choose a lighter colour than before and make highlights on the light lines and on the ore. Same goes for the dark lines but with a darker colour.

Note: You can use a transparent brush, I just used pixel art for demonstrating.

Which block should I make a tutorial of next?

    Hope it helped!

    this is AWESOME :D
You stone and grass is what caught my attention at first, then the bookshelves after I saw the skull.
just a suggestion: Can you make the grass edge go down a bit? You dont have to if you dont want, because it is still pretty cool.

I'll see what I can do!

Thanks guys for the amazing feedback!
