Whenever i try to import a custom entity that I edited in NBTExplorer, MCedit won't let me import it and it comes up with this error IOError: Cannot detect file type. How can I fix it? I already checked all the possible wrong things with my entity but it's fine.

First mode sounds a lot like peaceful mode in survival, I see the second mode as more of a plugin or a mod.

NBT editors or MCedit using filters by sethbling is the solution to your problem.

You can use a command block or enable cheats and type this in /gamerule keepInventory true
