I'm considering it. The original prototype of this mod was built in 1.7.10 but it required a little bit more hackery to get working.

If you find the time and have the motivation to do so, please do. Many of us still use 1.7.10, as it's still the most supported and provides the most content. There's another mod that does this for 1.7.10, but it doesn't seem to work too well. I'm hoping yours does and maybe does it better.

    Thanks for considering.

This is awesome. Any chance you would invest any time into providing a 1.7.10 version?

I just updated, awesome. The Ferrous Wroughnaut's stomp just made him so much more phenomenal. Keep up the good work

EDIT:... except for that Barakoana Tribesman Elite crash. These continuous problems are probably frustrating you, Bob. We will be waiting patiently for your bug fix. Until then, the mod is still usable, just will disable that mob in JAS.

I've been using this guy a lot in my worlds, but now 'Mowzie's Mobs' has updated and Llibrary with it, requiring the newer version. So now, this mod crashes. Is there a chance you can update it with the necessary changes? This mob is awesome and I want to keep using him.

Bob, not that I'm in any sort of manner criticizing your selection and discretion to what sort of mobs you create and implement, but I do wonder a little why you have no interest in something that has been created already. Someone said above about the ents, for example. I know of roughly 5, so yeah it would seem that choosing such a creature would seem redundant, however many of those have simple animations and very little unique aspects to them. So it is almost a shame we do not have such a very popular form of fantasy creature in minecraft that does it justice. Certainly, you could implement interesting features and unique aspects to these, as you have already proven that with the foliath and barakoa/SunKing. Now, those don't really exist anywhere else in minecraft modding, but if a version of them did exist that was in basic minecraft mob animation, texture and AI, it would certainly have been a shame to pass on them. I understand you probably still have an interest and joy for implementing innovative ideas and lacking takes on mobs, and those should certainly be the current and major focus, I just wish that at some point if things settled down for you and became more manageable in terms of the time you could commit and accomplished a lot of what you're currently trying to do, that you would entertain such things. But I respect your decision whichever the case, as I cannot complain with what you have and plan to provide.

By the way, awesome continued effort on betweenlands. I still take advantage of the mod for what it offers in its individual features, stripping and picking what fits my personaly created adventure maps and rpg-style games.

So, thank you for that, again.

posted a message on Thaumcraft 6.1.BETA26 [no longer being developed]

I am new to thaumcraft and a little confused about a minor thing, if any of you could explain a simple aspect for me please. These element-infused stones have a sort of glowing effect to them, varying in color. I'm confused as to why the water stone and crystals are green? They're almost identical to the earth ones it appears. I've seen pictures around while learning about thaumcraft, yet they're blue in most peoples' minecraft... Is this the way it is supposed to be, am I missing something or am I just ignorant of thaumcraft's workings? Appreciate the support if any of you could clarify. Thanks.

This is a great mod that everyone should have installed as it can be used in so many different ways, and is in no way intrusive if you do not use it.

I've been using it for a while on 1.7.10, so I'm curious if you will continue support for 1.7.10 in any way if you have any future features planned.

I have been unable to work on the mod for the last few weeks, as I'm in the process of moving and all my spare time is consumed by the never ending task of packing. I have a full time job as well, so no free time for modding for now. I hope to restart work in the mod in a few weeks, to finish the big Cat overhaul, port the mod to 1.8.9 and then port all of the changes to 1.7.10

Let me start with that, his words.

    Now your words:

"so it may be time to leave 1.7.10 for what it is and move on."

    The essence of my argument.

    Now my words:

Ok, never once advocated updating a mod to a newer version should be delayed. I'm not even saying that updating a current version is priority over a newer version, I do believe the opposite. The mod developer himself seems to be indicating that a 1.8.9 mod would come with content before a 1.7.10 content mod, then providing 1.7.10 that same content. The mod developer said he wants to update 1.7.10, and in response a couple individuals spoke out against that. Why would you want to halt him from updating, any version? People use that version, in case of 1.7.10 the majority do. Simply because you play another, newer version, you should not go barking and imposing your selfish will or perspective on the developer, who has his own agenda of what he wants to do, to cut off a version and thus cut off 1.7.10 players off. Ask for an update for your version, but do not fight against other versions - especially the current standard, and especially if the mod developer himself aims at what he wants to support. As I said before, I wouldn't be making this case if the developer had made a statement about him halting support for 1.7.10, that is his choice, instead individuals are trying to spur him to make that choice. You, in particular also are. I've read some of your previous posts about giving gratitude and respect to the developer, also asking others to respect his agenda of development. Here, you hypocritically contrast that by claiming he cut off a specific version and then outline what his development plans should entail. This is the first time I have experienced people literally telling a developer to narrow his version support and leave one behind, astonished that I even am.

On the other note, major mods have made the upgrades to newer versions, that does not mean a substantial amount of mods have to the extent that the larger majority can move onto that version. You then leave the larger majority behind, while many are strapped to that version because of a wide array of mods that exist, that do not exist in the later versions. 1.7.10 will be left behind, but not so immediately.

The developer wants to make 1.7.10-1.8.9 happy. That is his agenda. Stop getting amidst that. God bless you, Dr. Zhark.

    Those are my final thoughts.

when he have time to downport the mod to 1.7.10 a lot of people will already have moved to 1.8.9

That is an extreme and false prediction. My fault though, bad wording; not downport, update. There already exists a version for 1.7.10. For one modder to update his mod, even if he took his time which is totally ok, would take a significantly shorter span of time than thousands of mods ported or created for newer versions. 1.7.10 is not dying soon, we are handfuls of months away from that.

Stop arguing against the desire for a developer to keep everyone happy. Literally, no reason for that. I'm not going to rage if he dumps 1.7.10, but god bless him for not.

You mean an outdated version of Minecraft no one should be using anymore? Yeah, of course.

Yeah, the outdated version that the mass majority of a modded Minecraft play. No one should be using it? Well they do, for a reason. I'd love to be playing 1.9 right now, but if there's 1000x more content for 1.7.10... I chose 1.7.10, along with the mass majority. 1.7.10, whether you like it or not, is the current standard for a modded minecraft. Do not chose to impose your will or perspective on the larger majority's rationale. Especially when the developer themselves are in favor of keeping the standard through the latest supported, keeping all happy. Furthermore, you disappoint a larger majority by halting support for 1.7.10. This is the case moving forward as well with other versions. A slightly older version will always be the standard, due to Minecraft's core. While it's significantly more difficult for a developer to manage all these versions, it is unfortunately what it is.
