Everyone here seems to think that pvp takes no skill. This proves they know nothing of it and have no right to make statements about when they themselves know nothing. If u think spam clicking is "op" you really need to look at the situation again. Nothing is op if everyone can do it. Saying spam clicking is op is literally saying attacking is op. Pvp is not spam clicking, it's easier if u do it but if you're better enough than the person you're fighting you don't even need to. Pvp is made up the following : strafing, following strafes, comboing, and killing combos. This isn't obvious at first, so most people the first time they pvp will get rekt for straight lining and not being able to follow the other guy. Spam clicking only helps guarantee you hit them as many times as possible, not thinking about whether or not to click, but instead focusing on strafing and the rest of the skill based components of pvp. A limited hit speed only means you have one more distraction from the main part of pvp.

These are my opinions about pvp changes and how i think they should go. I have over 3000 hours pvping and like to think i know a lot on the subject. Nearly all the people here seem to think that spam clicking is somehow "op" and that this will make pvp harder and add more strategy and get rid of the "mindless spam clicking" we supposedly have now.

First of all while jitter clicking can allow you to click on excess of 15 times per second, this is only an advantage of you can actually still follow the other guys strafes even then it doesn't mean it hitting them 15 times per second, u can only damage someone twice per second. Strafing and following strafes is what makes up pvp. Not spam clicking.

On the strategy supposedly added, potion archery completely upends any of it. A damage 2 shot deals way to much damage, especially when attacked with a power 5 bow, meaning it won't be left click spamming, but spamming right click just a little bit slower.

The attack speed limit should not be entirely removed in my opinion, however swords should have an attack speed of 2 times power second, so ur not spam clicking, only attacking as fast as you could damage anyone anyway, so you could still combo, but it would be much harder.

Also, there should be a bigger power difference between swords and axes so that shields don't hey mage obsolete of people only use axes.

So far on this whole post, Gregrs is the only one who knows what they're talking about. 1.9 is adding awesome new features with shields, and axes disabling them, but then puts the whole thing on slow mo by adding max effective attack speed. So far every one else has proven them selves completely unskilled at pvp, saying that spam clicking is somehow op. To those who think this way : learn to strafe. Strafing, not spam clicking, is the basis of pvp. Beyond that you learn to hold combos, then how to break an enemy's combo, then you learn click alignment. Minecraft pvp is not spam clicking, that is merely what it is built upon. Minecraft pvp is strafing, following strafes, comboing, and breaking combos. Minecraft pvp already is highly complex and skill based, if you think otherwise, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. To those who think I'm just afraid of change: wouldn't you be too if 3341 hours of skill and practice was thrown away?
