Optifine is randomly making the ground 'x-ray'. I have the current version of Java installed and a fresh install of Minecraft with Optifine. Any advice?
For the love of God, don't put in a stupid intro video. Every freaking minecraft video maker has some stupid 15 second long animation with some over-bassy dubstep to it. Be original and start off a video in an original way that makes it so people don't want to ignore your videos the moment the dubstep starts playing.
I've been playing Minecraft since about August of 2013. I don't remember exactly what patch that was, 1.4 or so? It was before the redstone update. As for texture packs, I kinda like leaving things as vanilla. If I do use a texture pack, it's usually just one to make cobblestone less ugly lol. My current Minecraft skin is Han Solo
Well, I'm 24 years old and I would love a server that is what you're describing. If I'm not too young, I'd love to join you.
I guess to fill your requirements a little bit more, in my rereading of it you want a paragraph or so. A little bit about myself, I'm one who tends to keep a small close knit group of friends. I've been hanging out with two other guys since grade school in real life, and since we've grown up and moved on our seperate ways (the two of them are married and have kids, I moved out of state for school and steadily dating a girl myself), we keep in touch by playing games online (specifically Dota 2). As for myself personally, I'm an electrical engineering major. I love anything electronic - tinkering, fixing, designing, building. I enjoy planning out projects and going forth and building them. I've never had any issues with being banned from a server for immaturity, or whatever.
What is your time zone: Mountain Time (2 behind EST)
Do you have mumble, working mic, and will join: I have skype and a working headset. I'll join if there is decent conversation to be had. Skype user name is zulukas
When about did you start playing MineCraft: Uhm, about August 2013
Favorite part of MineCraft: I love the Sandbox aspect of the game
Favorite building block: I love sandstone, but it's a pain in the butt to get a large quantity with relatively low effort
Why are you applying: Because I want a multiplayer server to play on? Single player gets lonely.
Tell me about yourself: I'm an electrical engineering major, I like tinkering, I like designing, I like building.
How much do you see yourself playing: Well, pretty much whenever I have free time I'm on my computer if I'm not with friends or at school. So I play a pretty good amount
Why do you want to join this server: Just want a server to play on. Solo play gets lonely
Timezone: Mountain Time (-2 EST)
Tell me a little bit about your self: Part time student right now; studying electrical engineering. I'm usually pretty free throughout the week because I'm only taking 9 credits right now.
Everything about the OP and his signature make me want to make it illegal for people under 18 to use the internet. Goodness gracious kid, develop some grammar.
You mentioned a 14 or 15 inch screen...? That's TINY.
As for a $500 budget, that's pretty darn tight. You may want to consider looking into a prebuilt system at that rate because it includes the OS. Building is a pretty expensive hobby (from personal experience... I've put nearly $1300 into my tower ALONE, but I'm running two high end cards in SLI)
In this thread: A bunch of kids discussing PC performance with no evidence to support claims either way.
Here's the shocking truth about Minecraft.
There is a LOT loaded, all the time. Granted none of the textures are displayed until exposed (I would imagine at least, it may be a block-or-two buffer). The graphics and particle effects are really not that demanding. I have a craptop (crappy laptop) that I paid $300 that can do pretty darn well with Minecraft except for when I start to alter the world quite a bit, then the game starts lagging (and lagging as in it feels like it's server lag) but I'm playing offline.
The difference? Video Ram, in my humblest of opinions. Minecraft is not a very intense game. There's no complex AI's, the graphics are minimal even at maximum settings. The bullcrap I've seen about needing a good CPU and Video Card, is quite blatantly a load of crap. Problems start really occurring when room runs out. At least in my opinion. Thus, having a video card with a little extra Vram would probably be a good bet. But in my opinion, if you're going to build your PC, make it so it can run something a little more than Minecraft... if you play Minecraft, odds are you play other games too, you're going to want to be able to play some modern games on decent graphics at least, and you can do that without breaking your budget.
First of all: AMD processors have the best price-per-performance ratio. What was a few months ago their top of the line CPU, the FX-8350 ran $200 and was on par with Intel's i5-3570k, which I currently run in my rig (in my opinion it's the best bang-for-your buck processor on the market, I researched the living hell out of it. Haswell only offers a slight performance increase, at the sacrifice of higher core temps). The 8350 is a fantastic CPU btw. However, a cheaper alternative is probably going to be more likely a better choice, especially if you're on a budget. Look into an FX 6000 series chip.
Then we hit video cards. Who is best, AMD or Intel? That's a topic for the philosophers, but I am partial as an enthusiast to Nvidia. They have better drivers, and update them all the time. AMD and Nvidia in all honesty are in a tight competition of the market. AMD just released their new generation of cards, but only a few months after Nvidia announced theirs. I cannot help you much with AMD's number sequencings, but I know Nvidias. The more affordable cards tend to be the -50's. 550, and 650 are both very competent cards, and hold their own, but will not be the fastest on the newest games. The -60's are a step up, but usually run about $75 bucks higher, but the price is well worth it. Then you have the -70's (I personally run two 670's in SLI, had I known the 700 series generation would be coming out only a few months later, I would have saved my money and bought a 780). And so on, 580 and 680 are expensive, along with the 590 and 690 (there is no 790 yet). My suggestion, go for a GTX 650 Ti.
RAm is important, however, speeds in my researching, do not make much of a difference in performance. I saw a comment in which the poster claimed you should get 1600 Mhz, and I'm calling bullcrap on that, 1333Mhz will work just fine for a cheaper price.
HDDs... obviously you need one... get one... Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi, etc, get a known brand, don't worry too much about performance there. SDD's are nice, make boot times INCREDIBLY fast over HDDs, they're a little pricey, so if you dont have the cash, don't get one.
Power supplies, a single video card rig with a low range to mid range CPU and typical accessories and peripherals, Get a 550W. You can honestly go lower, but that's my suggestion. PSU's are a tricky thing to figure unless you know the power consumption of each part, which in my experience is not very commonly labelled unless its a CPU.
Do some research, get your parts, build your rig, and use ESD protection while doing so. You'll do good and have yourself a PC with the pride to know you built it yourself!
And don't listen to some of these idiotic kids on these forums acting like they know a thing or two about PCs. I know PCs, I've been building and fixing them for over 10 years.
Hey, wanted to see if anyone else has had issues installing Buildcraft 3.7.2. I installed Forge, it's working fine. I tested it with another forge mod and that installed fine, however, buildcraft is giving this error:

Can't seem to figure it out. The buildcraft website is near useless also, their forum hasn't had any activity in over 2 weeks. Any help is appreciated!
Randomly created this seed for a hardcore map, started explornig, and found that the world has a very strange sudden biome change from what I can tell. Hasn't been edited. If you look out to the right, you can see islands off in the distance.
Anyone ever seen anything like this in a random seed??
ok Thanks sorry I didn't know about the sub-forum because I'm new at the forums and you can probably tell but I just wanted a minecrafters perspective on the subject
I'd definitely look for a more modern CPU. But then again, most processes (games, applications, etc) don't utilize more than 1 core anyhow, so I usually suggest higher frequency speeds (GHz), and higher L2 & L3 caches on your CPU.

As for myself personally, I'm an electrical engineering major. I love anything electronic - tinkering, fixing, designing, building. I enjoy planning out projects and going forth and building them. I've never had any issues with being banned from a server for immaturity, or whatever.

I installed the DynamicLights_1.6.2.jar into coremods like the instructions say. I am running FML .789 and it's stable.
Any thoughts?
