    I have a suggestion for an addition to your mod. In multiplayer, could you add a block that costs alot (diamond block or something) and when placed, protects that chunk from being mined by other players, or having blocks placed. Sort of like how claiming a chunk with the server plugin "Factions" does, if you're familiar with that. But instead of a command to claim a chunk, just have a block, that when placed (could even just make it use the vanill diamond block), 'claims' that chunk for the player who placed it. And then add a simple /friend add (name) and /friend remove (name) command that lets people on your friends list mine and place within chunks claimed by you. It should only claim a single chunk so you have to place multiple claim blocks to claim multiple chunks. Also it should still be possible for a person to use tnt cannons from outside your territory, to blast in and break your territory, so that they can eventually siege you.



    An alternative would be to multiply the mining time by a significant amount (4x, 8x, 16x, 32x) while preventing non-friends from placing within your claimed chunk. This would make for a much much better raiding/fortressing pvp metagame on a server.

    Do explosions that do not completely destroy a block progress its mining value and leave it cracked? Also, is there a way to configure the cooldown time or max # of affected blocks? So that, say on a pvp server, you can use multiple tnts to break through obsidian froma tnt cannon, etc?

    Hey everyone,

    so this is a suggestion/idea/question about standardizing an extra inventory through Forge. For example, mods such as Tinkers Construct, RPG inventory, and Battlegear 2 all have their own seperate GUI's for an "extra" inventory space where you can equip stuff such as necklaces, rings, capes, shields, exo-frames, backpacks, off hand weapons, quivers, etc.

    What if all of these were combined and used together in a standard way? This would offer more compatibility, balance, and customization when using these, and future mods, together.

    Would it be possible? With the new tool "attribute" system mojang is implementing, would we be able to see an explosion of new mods adding custom equipment to a standardized "extra equipment" inventory? Stuff that could apply potion effects, auto-feed, auto-heal (with a potion belt for example), inventory that can sum additions to things like speed, jump, mining speed, attack speed, damage, armor, regen rate, from multiple pieces of equipment?


    Now, could we also apply this idea to Forge mod "skills" such as the ones seen in the Zelda Sword Skills mod? What if we had a Forge Skill Tree Library that could be customized by the modpack author, end-user, to determine the type of progression they would like in their gameplay?


    I believe this would be an amazing tool, one that additional content would be easily made for, if it were a standardized forge library sort of thing.

    What do you guys think? Is it possible? Is it a good idea? Why or why not?

    Hey everyone, so I could not find a comprehensive discussion that talked about the ramifications of the new features and file/coding organization of minecraft 1.7 and 1.8, on the modding community.

    I know they're implementing some sort of new "attribute" system where tools/weapons have +damage, etc or can only break certain blocks. Items/Blocks are going to be coded using their names instead of ID numbers. And a host of new commandline functionality.

    My question is this. What new things are now possible by the modding community with the implementation of these new systems?

    - Can we have "damage types" like in rpg's. Granting elemental damage/weaknesses to weapons/mobs etc.
    - How about "armor types"?
    - Will more mods be compatible now that they don't fight over an ID # list?
    - How about world "events" and perhaps making procedurally generated quests now?

    What do you guys know about this, and what ideas do you have?

    Do you have default spawn rates hard-coded into the mob classes or anything? this could be why. If you make the spawning wholly dependent on the config, i believe this would fix it.

    I'm having trouble with enderdragon girls in the end overwhelming the spawning. I use mob spawn controls 2, I turned all of your mobs spawn rate to zero in the config, and even disabled them through MSC2. And yet they still swarm the end and no endrman can spawn.

    Would you be willing to work on the bugs where players lose their spells, and where things change when you log out and back into a server? It's probably a related issue. Also I noticed that for my MCPC server the data for minegicka is being saved in the "saves" folder in the main directory instead of in the world file or in the player data. Does that have something to do with the problem?

    It doesn't seem to control mob-spawning unless I click the Use Master checkbox, and than it still spawns per specific biome. Which is what I want, but I thought you should be made aware of that. Also, some suggestions:

    -Use numeric input boxes instead of sliders for max numbers of mobs (200 is too small for a large server)

    -Implement mob distribution, so that they're evenly spread between players, so 1 player doesn't have all 200 around him and the other has 0, maybe make the max mob setting a max mob per player setting, and detect in a radius around the player the number of mobs?

    -Implement height conditions for spawning, or perhaps nearby block type conditions, so we can make things only spawn in strongholds by making it dependent on stone brick, etc.

    -Mo'creatures seem to spawn much less than other mods mobs. I set everything to spawnrate of 1 in mo'creatures config, anything else I need to do?

    -Make mob groups,like you have biome groups, for faster configuration!
