Snowfall Peak in its essence is a single dream. A dream to perhaps create a lasting community that would stick together through thick and thin - that wouldn't disappear because of petty problems, inactivity and so forth. A dream to provide a place to rest, relax, talk and to simply have fun in.
About a year ago I came to the realization that I was simply getting tired of looking for a nice community to settle down into. Something always didn't click with me and so I kind of drifted away from every server I applied to. Kind of a douchey thing to do, believe me I know, but I was just so hellbent on finding the one server that would be absolutely perfect, that it just kind of happened. I realized that I was being a massive dingus and understood that the only way of finding that community (and to atone for the aforementioned being-a-dingus part) is to create one yourself. After all, Minecraft is such a great experience because of the people and the community that's grown around it. And so, the idea of Snowfall Peak was born.
Basically I'm aiming for a sort of organic, mature (preferrably 16+) Light-RP kind of server - something that would feature some lore, unique items and other fun thingies such as those, whilst also keeping in touch the original Minecraft experience, which is why the server doesn't include any plugins - strictly vanilla. For a year now, I've been building a map of sorts which would feature all of these aspects, and now I believe that it's at least somewhat ready for launch [A sneak-peek can be seen here: http://imgur.com/a/eQonY ]. The server also has an official texturepack, which is basically a slightly altered version of Smp's Revival. I'll link the download site in the Skype group, if anyone wants to use it]. If perhaps the roleplaying and pre-built dungeons features turns out to be a bore, there's a handy way of teleporting to a place where none of that bothersome nonesense exists and where one could build whatever they desire. Also, the server has no protection of any kind - it's wholly governed by the players themselves (basically the only rule to follow is this one: What you wish upon others, you wish upon yourself [Basically, don't be a dingus]). If you have any more specific questions, feel free to post them in this thread, I will answer them as soon as possible!
As a sidenote, I originally planned to host the server myself, but I believe that the official Minecraft Realms are a much better option, as there's little to no lag and it offers a lot of extra options on how to manage the server. However, I understand that connecting to Realms might be a bit of a hassle because of the profile integration with Mojang thingie, so I'm terribly sorry about that.
Since it is going to be a relatively small server (10 player slots), I've tried to make a rather sizeable application to single out any server-hoppers. There will also probably (with a 50% probability, in fact!) be an interview of sorts (just to get to know people better, it's not a job interview or something silly such as that) utilizing Skype, so having that installed would be rather nice. However if voice-chat is out of the question, simply writing will be absolutely fine as well. Oh, and if you could include a picture of a previous build of yours, that would be excellent (I'm just interested in what sort of building styles are most common in the community). And before I forget, there'll also be a Dubtrack.fm group for the server (basically it's a sort of place where people can listen to music together), the link to which will be up in the Skype group (or will be PM-ed to you if you don't happen to have Skype).
- What would your preferred nickname be?:
- How old are you?:
- What country are you from? (You don't have to answer this if you don't want to):
- What's your Skype name? (You can PM it to me if you don't want to reveal such information here):
- What do you enjoy most about Minecraft?:
- What sort of Minecraft player are you?:
- Have you ever been banned before, and if so then what for? (Asking this just in case):
- What are your general interests?:
- What type of music do you enjoy? (This is for the Dubtrack.fm page, so that I'll know what sorts of playlists I should create):
- Please describe yourself in a few sentences (Again, you can leave this one blank if you don't want to answer this):
- What would you like to see in this server?:
- What's your most preferred building style?:
- Anything extra we should know about you?:
And that's pretty much it, thanks in advance for applying!
Hope to see you on the server!
P.S. I will most probably read the applications tomorrow so that you could have time to think if this is the right server for you. I will also be adding everyone at once, as to have a nice and proper ''server opening''.
