posted a message on [Snowfall Peak] - An upcoming Realms server focused on creating a tight-knit community

    Snowfall Peak

Snowfall Peak in its essence is a single dream. A dream to perhaps create a lasting community that would stick together through thick and thin - that wouldn't disappear because of petty problems, inactivity and so forth. A dream to provide a place to rest, relax, talk and to simply have fun in.

About a year ago I came to the realization that I was simply getting tired of looking for a nice community to settle down into. Something always didn't click with me and so I kind of drifted away from every server I applied to. Kind of a douchey thing to do, believe me I know, but I was just so hellbent on finding the one server that would be absolutely perfect, that it just kind of happened. I realized that I was being a massive dingus and understood that the only way of finding that community (and to atone for the aforementioned being-a-dingus part) is to create one yourself. After all, Minecraft is such a great experience because of the people and the community that's grown around it. And so, the idea of Snowfall Peak was born.

Basically I'm aiming for a sort of organic, mature (preferrably 16+) Light-RP kind of server - something that would feature some lore, unique items and other fun thingies such as those, whilst also keeping in touch the original Minecraft experience, which is why the server doesn't include any plugins - strictly vanilla. For a year now, I've been building a map of sorts which would feature all of these aspects, and now I believe that it's at least somewhat ready for launch [A sneak-peek can be seen here: http://imgur.com/a/eQonY ]. The server also has an official texturepack, which is basically a slightly altered version of Smp's Revival. I'll link the download site in the Skype group, if anyone wants to use it]. If perhaps the roleplaying and pre-built dungeons features turns out to be a bore, there's a handy way of teleporting to a place where none of that bothersome nonesense exists and where one could build whatever they desire. Also, the server has no protection of any kind - it's wholly governed by the players themselves (basically the only rule to follow is this one: What you wish upon others, you wish upon yourself [Basically, don't be a dingus]). If you have any more specific questions, feel free to post them in this thread, I will answer them as soon as possible!

As a sidenote, I originally planned to host the server myself, but I believe that the official Minecraft Realms are a much better option, as there's little to no lag and it offers a lot of extra options on how to manage the server. However, I understand that connecting to Realms might be a bit of a hassle because of the profile integration with Mojang thingie, so I'm terribly sorry about that.

Since it is going to be a relatively small server (10 player slots), I've tried to make a rather sizeable application to single out any server-hoppers. There will also probably (with a 50% probability, in fact!) be an interview of sorts (just to get to know people better, it's not a job interview or something silly such as that) utilizing Skype, so having that installed would be rather nice. However if voice-chat is out of the question, simply writing will be absolutely fine as well. Oh, and if you could include a picture of a previous build of yours, that would be excellent (I'm just interested in what sort of building styles are most common in the community). And before I forget, there'll also be a Dubtrack.fm group for the server (basically it's a sort of place where people can listen to music together), the link to which will be up in the Skype group (or will be PM-ed to you if you don't happen to have Skype).

    Application Template

    • IGN:
    • What would your preferred nickname be?:
    • How old are you?:
    • What country are you from? (You don't have to answer this if you don't want to):
    • What's your Skype name? (You can PM it to me if you don't want to reveal such information here):
    • What do you enjoy most about Minecraft?:
    • What sort of Minecraft player are you?:
    • Have you ever been banned before, and if so then what for? (Asking this just in case):
    • What are your general interests?:
    • What type of music do you enjoy? (This is for the Dubtrack.fm page, so that I'll know what sorts of playlists I should create):
    • Please describe yourself in a few sentences (Again, you can leave this one blank if you don't want to answer this):
    • What would you like to see in this server?:
    • What's your most preferred building style?:
    • Anything extra we should know about you?:

And that's pretty much it, thanks in advance for applying!

Hope to see you on the server!

P.S. I will most probably read the applications tomorrow so that you could have time to think if this is the right server for you. I will also be adding everyone at once, as to have a nice and proper ''server opening''.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm going to have to withdraw for reasons I'd like to withhold. Apologies for wasting your time.

    IGN: Farenhait

Skype: Bismuthine (Not the Japanese one! Putting this here just for clarification)

Pictures: This is something I did a while ago for an upcoming server I was trying to make. The server didn't take off, but I managed to take some screenshots of the builds before it shut down completely - http://imgur.com/a/4jcAz

Why do I want to join you?: Well it's kind of a long story. You see, I've been actively looking for a nice smaller community-oriented server for a long time now (about 6 months? Can't remember exactly), but most of them just turn out to be unactive or even unfriendly and close in about a month after opening. I adore Minecraft, can't seem to get enough of it to be honest, even though I've been playing since Alpha.

How do I feel about joining a MC family?: I'd love it. This is exactly the thing I've been looking for these past months.

Skills: I'd most probably categorize myself as a builder, since I'd at least like to think that I'm not utter crap at it. Redstone is something I'm not very familiar with - I mean, I can get things done but in a very slow and backwards way. Also for some reason I enjoy doing very menial but time-wasting tasks - quarrying (manually digging gigantic holes), large scale deforesting, terraforming large landmasses etc.

A little about myself: To be honest, I'm terribly shy. I'm very quiet at first, usually sticking to myself, never really settling down anywhere until I find the right place to build. However I tend to warm up after I get to know the playerbase a bit more. Now if this is something that's completely unacceptable, then I understand completely if you reject this application.

I enjoy Minecraft for it's simplicity and the fact that you can do anything the mind can come up with. I've been playing since the very beginning and haven't gotten bored yet, surprisingly. There's just so much to do and so much to see.
I'm also very into mineralogy, the English language (extremely nerdy, I know) and like to tinker with woodworking a bit.

Alrighty, I think that should be it then! I'll await your response.

Many thanks for reading this mess I've written!

    4) I'd say my all time favourite mod would be Tinker's construct, as it just adds a really fun element to the game (at least for me) - tool customization. It makes numerous activities much easier (such as mining, deforesting and so forth) but still keeps it balanced in a weird sort of way.
However, two other mods are very close contenders - Thermal Expansion and Thaumcraft. I feel that they make the game more interesting in general.

    5) I have absolutely no idea, honestly. I've been looking for smaller, community-oriented servers for a while now and well, I thought I'd give this a shot. Now, if you'd like some actual reasons then I'll try to dig something up.
I'm experienced with many technical (and some magical) mods, and will be ready to help out anywhere I can. Also, I'd like to think I'm at least decent at building (a sample: http://imgur.com/a/4jcAz). As a side note, I tend to be loyal 'til the end when it comes to Minecraft - I don't just jump from server to server, unless it just withers away player-wise.

    6) I'm quite shy, so it's very commonplace for me to be quiet until I get to know the playerbase. Now if this is something that's a big no-no, then I understand completely.

posted a message on Mighty Mooshroom Server [1.8.8 Vanilla] [Survival] [18+] [White Listed][Long Therm]

    In Game Name: Farenhait

    Age: 18

    Male/Female: Male

Do you have skype and are you willing to use it?: Of course, I already use it nearly every day. Username - Bismuthine

What time zone are you in?: EEST [I live in Estonia, a tiny-ish country near Finland and the Baltic States]

Why do you want to join Mighty Mooshroom?: To be honest here, I've been looking for a nice, close-knit server for months upon end. On numerous occasions the servers I play on just cease to exist after a while, or they just get griefed to oblivion (which is why I hope this one'll be different). I adore Minecraft's simplicity, and would definitely like to keep on playing it. Sadly, this is being made harder and harder each day, because of the sudden influx of horrible-terrible, badly thought out, craptastic and most definitely not mature servers. Long story short, I believe this is what I've been looking for for the last few months.

What is your favorite thing to do in Minecraft?: I enjoy building infrastructure (roads, walls, mines) and inns for some reason. Even weirder, I'm extremely fond of just simple tasks - woodcutting, quarrying, farming etc.

Tell us about yourself IRL : To be honest, I'm rather shy. I tend to stick to myself at first, but most probably warm up to something in a while (If this happens to be the breaking point of this application, I understand completely). I'd like to believe that I'm also rather empathic and that I try to help out wherever and whenever I can. Also, I try to be as honest as I can.

I enjoy geology (the collecting and determining aspect is what appeals to me most), the English language (kind of a strange thing to like, but still. I just love the rhythm and flow of it) and well, from time to time I like to practice some carpentry and the like.

How active will you be?: Very active. I've been wanting to get back to minecraft in a while, so the urge to play is great indeed!

Why do you think Minecraft still appeals to you?: As mentioned before, I enjoy the simplistic aspect of Minecraft and of course the freedom to build whatever the mind thinks up. I've been playing since the beginning of Alpha and I just can't seem to get enough of it for some reason.

What can you bring to the server?: Bah, never really know how to answer these.

I'd say I try to help any and all I can. Also, I could theoretically help out with builds and such (here's a teeny tiny link to a previous build I made: http://imgur.com/a/4jcAz ). I'd probably start setting up a trading system between players if they'd be up for it, but that's just wishful thinking at the moment.

Alrighty, that should be it! Apologies if the application turned out to be too long...

Preferred Roleplay Name: (You will be nicked): Cinnabar

Nation: (Water, Earth, Fire, Air): Earth

Backstory?: One of the last of a lost caste of the Earthen folk, Cinnabar is journeying throughout the lands to make his own path. An innkeeper at heart, Cinnabar enjoys a good day's work and a mug of rich root beer afterwards.

Are you familiar with the bending plugin?: I've read a bit about it, but I can't say that I've ever played on a server hosting it. If that's a problem, I understand completely.

    IGN: Farenhait

    Real Name: Mathias

Age / D.O.B (18+): 03.01.97 *Cough* Here's the awkward part - I'm actually not 18 yet. If this is basically a dealbreaker, I understand completely. Just thought I'd give it a shot!

Skype: Cinnabar (or if that doesn't come up with any answers, then try mr.antifreezer)

Tell Us About Yourself and Why You Want To Join? i.e (experience, building skills or types of builds): Never know how to answer these. Here goes - Basically, I've been travelling throughout hundreds of servers, never truly being able to settle in because of immediate shut-downs, griefing, mind-numbing childishness, abusive admins etc. As you can probably theoretically theorize (theoretically speaking of course), I'm here to give another shot at Minecraft as a whole. As soon as I saw that this server is run by an actual adult and was rather small-ish, I was thrilled to write this wee' application because I absolutely despise large, clustered servers where no-one knows each other. I enjoy Minecraft like nothing else, I just adore its simplicity and design, but again, I have no place to actually play.

To be honest, I am sadly extremely shy which does affect my play-style quite a bit (keeping to myself for at least the beginning weeks and so forth). Also, for some reason, I enjoy doing menial tasks in MC such as harvesting crops, woodcutting, quarrying and manual terraforming. I like to be quite organized (as far as chests and building plans go). I don't really have a building style, although I tend to build in a more rustic way (medieval buildings I guess?) - inns, walls, palisades, roadworks etc. I could probably send you some pictures of my builds as proof if it'd interest you. I absolutely love building cities though. The planning and material-prepping is very fun for me (again, no idea why). I have a bit of knowledge in redstone-related things, but I definitely need to improve a bunch before I could truly say I know redstone.

Righty then, that should be it. Thanks for reading this horrific amount of text!

    What are you like?

Just going to put this in here, I never know how to actually answer these kinds of questions, but oh well, here goes. Well, I'm kind of shy, which is why I despise gigantic MC servers, on which getting to know somebody is nigh-impossible. For some reason, I enjoy doing menial tasks in MC, such as harvesting crops, woodcutting, quarrying and manual terraforming. I like to be quite organized (as far as chests and building plans go). I don't really have a building style, although I tend to build in a more rustic way (medieval buildings I guess?) - inns, walls, palisades, roadworks etc. I absolutely love building cities though. Coal can be found almost anywhere, but on your first night you can find them near mountains or cliffs, 1 or 2 coal bits will do just fine for your first night. Saplings however, they are a different story. First you need an area (about 4x4) away from all other objects or else it will grow very slowly or will not grow at all. Saplings are not affected by dryness or humidity.Saplings grow into trees in about 3 minecraft days.

    Hope this helps :iapprove:
