    posted a message on Religion
I bring religion down to this : Humans created everything, and the idea about god. Why would he send a different message to someone halfway across the world, in a completely different language? He had to have known all the warand chaos they would cause.

I'm not saying anyone should stop or start worshipping him, or change their ideas. Just think about it for a minute or two.

I was reading the Bible once, at my friends house out of boredom. I found a passage completely unrelated to their discussion of 'Does a tree make a sound if it falls in the middle of a forest and no one is around to hear it' and twisted it, easily, to make a point in their discussion. I therefore made it true that trees wouldn't make a noise, since God made it so, and ended the discussion after about thirty minutes of debate. But I completely made up that fact, and told them after that I pulled it from the bible. We three are now Athiest.

Gotta love the Hitchhiker's guide :biggrin.gif:

We still never settled the tree argument.

Splush [Edit] , in my opinion, is a good name. We should start naming minecraft games with 'Spl' to continue on the spleef legacy :biggrin.gif: And as said before, you dont burp somebody, you push them :ohmy.gif:

And to contradict myself, griefing is nowhere near the word destroy or remove, it took me a few questions to understand it after i joined... so random words will apparantly work :tongue.gif:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/grief

Besides the fact that griefing annoys people, I cant see any similarities >.<

The name Murp reminds me of frogs. I dont like it. Like Conon said, maybe something that has to do with pushing people. I thoguht about it before reading his post and splush jumped into my head. But thats too random, eh? Maybe PLUMO! As in Plummet. Or Gridge, I dunno :/

Other random words I hope someone can find a use for...Its hard to make new words O.o:
    Cocone
    Bred
    Yarm
    Pencies
    Speal
    Moof
    Boor
    Sock
    Mintink

Now, reading through the forums I've seen alot of talk about the ctrl button. I wont take full credit for this since I was mainly inspired by everyone else, but how do you all think this would work? Let's say you hold shift to free your mouse.

You hold Ctrl to bring up a list of your weapons, and Alt to show you armors. To equip armor, you drag and drop it on a body part that it would fit on. (When you drag them it automatically goes to a third-person view to the front of your person, rotatable with arrow keys, maybe? Could check up on your skin like this too :biggrin.gif:) To Equip/Unequip weapons and shield, etc, would be the same, except youd drop them on an arm. If you drag it on a wapon that's already there, they would replace, unless your trying to equip a two-handed weapon with a full inventory while holding two things. This would prevent an 'Inventory' screen and keep players from stopping play for a short while, so they can still see their surroundings etc, instead of opening a 'window'.

Alternatively, clicking on a piece of equipment could also bring up a list of areas where you can place it.

I would prefer the first idea, because I would dislike for minecraft to have another window besides pause. I'd like to see it as a new experience, instead of the generic Diablo-like equipment screen.

And no 'Living Leather Boots of the Wandering Goat' shiz, please.

So how does everyone like this idea? Everyone loves feedback, ideas from everyone is is an easy way to help Minecraft reach it's full potential

posted a message on Equipment and Battle System
I originally posted this in Orj's topic (viewtopic.php?pid=31415) but decided that Its so large I could make its own topic so I could track ideas and feedbacks.

    Heres my version of this:

You click to swing a sword. Simple as that.
When you and an opponent click at the same time, you block eachothers hits, like with a real sword you swing to block(Parry, for grammar popos )
However, If shields are added then there should be a % chance that an incoming attack is blocked, depending on the size of the shield. However of course, size would equal weight and decrease mobility. And the block chances wouldnt be jacked up to 60% or 90%.
Swords should deal more damage to enemies in less armor, whereas blunt weapons (Maces, clubs, etc) should do a bit more towards heavily plated foes. Depending if their wearing it on a certain body part, of course.
The damage should be a bit more and some effects for where you hit. Say you hit someone in their legs. Maybe decrease mobility for a bit? The arms? Decrease their 'Reload' time. Head? Some more damage. A chest/Stomach-looking-thing shot would be counted as a general shot and have a small chance to cause bleed damage. (I wouldnt put something in like a heartshot insta-kill combo shoop-da-woop. That'd be too cheap.) Anyway this would add an element of skill to a fight. Fighting a heavy enemy? Aim for his legs and retreat with a ranged weapon. Maybe your enemy has an awesome helmet? Slug him in the face with a maul. Maybe attacks from the back could give them a little quarter-second daze and a bit more damage to them.

    Anyway heres my damage system:

    Weapons and Equipment:

Fist: If you need a description here, I'm sorry for you...
Sword: Swords are slicing weapons. Maybe they could be used to stab somebody who's dazed, because stabbing against someone would put yourself in the open if they dodged. 1H/2H Variants
Blunt: Your basic hammer/Ball on a stick. They deal more damage to heavily plated foes, but are heavier to carry. They deal generally normal damage to other armor types with the bonus of daze
Bow+Arrow: General starting/ Easy to access weapon(Maybe droppable from skeletons). You can only shoot arrows with it. It's bonuses make it good for quick, close-range shots
Crossbow+Bolts: Basically a medieval M86 rifle. More of a defensive weapon than arrows, useful for setting up a tower and having a teammate 'Watch Your Back' while you forage for nuts and berries, or for hunting swarms of swine
Explosives: This includes dynamite and creepers. You should know what an explosion is, otherwise you fail.

    Unarmored: Commando. You know it.
Cloth: T-Shirt and kilt setup made from sheep furs. Kilts. You know it.
Leather: Animal hides that are tanned and dried and worn as clothing. You sick bastards. You know it.
Plate: Made from steel (You get steel from mining iron). Makes you slow but makes most weapons basically uneffective against you. You can also eat off of them. You know it.

    General:

    Cheap Shot(From behind):+10% Damage, 0.3 Second dazed(Inability)
Head Shot(Any Weapon):+25% Damage, Minor Bleed for 1 Seconds.
Chest Shot(Any Weapon):+0% Damage, Minor Bleed for 1.5 Seconds
Arm Shot(Any Weapon):+0% Damage, Reset Weapon 'Cooldown'
    Leg Shot(Any Weapon):+0% Damage, Slow Movement by 50% for 2 Seconds(Hammys! )
A Cheap Shot to the head would deal 35% damage, with a 0.3 Second daze and minor bleed for 1 seconds.
Bows deal half as much damage as Crossbows
Crossbows take three times the reload time of bows.
You cant use arrows for crossbows and bolts for bows.

Now with Armors. Might get a bit large here, idk . I used to play WoW with my brother so I'll use Cloth, Leather, and Plate. Not mail, though, I never liked mail. It was so much lesser than plate.

    Unarmored: No speed reduction

    Fist:+5% Damage
    Sword:+30% Damage, 4 Second bleed.
    Blunt:+0% Damage, 2 Second daze
    Bow+Arrow:+5%-25% Damage, Depending on range.
    Crossbow+Bolt:+40%-55%
Explosions:+0%, 5 Second Daze. The smoldering/fire (Whatever gets added for damage) would do most damage.

    Cloth: No speed reduction

Fist:+0% Damage. Really, has anyone ever noticed it ACTUALLY hurts less to get hit through a shirt, honestly!
    Sword:+25% Damage
    Blunt:+0% Damage, 2 second daze
    Bow+Arrow:+5%-25% Damage, Depending on range.
    Crossbow+Bolt:+35%-50% Damage, Depending on range.
    Explosions:+0%, 5 Second Daze.

    Leather: Minor speed reduction

Fist:-5% Damage. No, this wouldn't heal them, just decrease the basic damage.
    Sword:+15% Damage
    Blunt:+0% Damage, 2 Second daze
    Bow+Arrow:+0%-15% Damage, Depending on range.
    Crossbow+Bolt:+25%-40% Damage, Depending on range.
    Explosions:+0%, 5 Second daze.

    Plate: Major speed reduction.

Fist:-50% Damage. It would also deal a bit of damage to the person attacking. Seriously, would you punch a guy wearing a full suit of armor?
Sword:+0% Damage, 1 Second stun for attacker
    Blunt:+30% Damage, 4 Second daze
    Bow+Arrow:-30%-10%, Damage, Depending on range
    Crossbow+Bolt:-10%-0% Damage, Depending on range
    Explosions:+25% Damage, 7 Second daze

I should also add that you should be able to have different types of armor on different parts of your body, so you could have a plate helmet on, a T-shirt, some leather boots, and bare arms. Alternatively, you could dress out in a full suit of armor. The damage would depend on where you hit them and what type of armor is there.

    Tips for my system:

Crossbows are supposed to be more defensive, and Bows are more of the attack weapon.

If your fighting people who like to dress out in armor, stock up on explosives or, if you like to dress out in armor too, have alot of maces and friends.

After someones dazed they shouldn't be able to get dazed again for a few seconds. Lockdown would suck.

Don't try and fight an armored person with a bow and arrow, a crossbow wouldn't be effective either

Leather would be a better choice for swordsmen. A bowman or corssbowman would probably choose cloth. Defensive and some offensive people would probably use plate. Don't be surprised to see crossbowmen in full plate gear walking along the walls of a castle, or swordsmen with plate. Let people do how they do

If you would be fighting a plate-clad enemy and your main weapon is something other than blunt, try and carry around a small blunt hammer. Switch to it and give him a good whack to the head every once and a while.

Bolts fired from a Crossbow would have less of an arch than arrows from a bow since they have more power pushing them along.

Well theres my ideas and I hope you all like it. Feedback pls.

The only way I'd even begin to consider classes a not horrible idea, is if there is a "jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" class. Otherwise it really does seem like a terrible idea that will subtract from the game.

    posted a message on Grenades?
Hello good people from minecraft, my name's Eztuzt. This is my first post here and so... I'll just post it here where it belongs.

Anyway to the point. I've been reading about some great ideas and thought eventually when i hit a creeper back and he exploded after a short while "He looked like a grenade". Some tiny explosive blocks, the size of a block that you get when you dig. Wouldn't it be great to have some? Maybe have some use out of the number keys to set a fuse. Maybe make them rethrowable until they explode, so that if you throw one at a group of zombies, a random zombie could eventually pick it up and lob it back at you. With a small chance of course. I could see some deadly russian roulette hot-potato-like sport rival spleef in the near future with this.

So does anyone support this? Would be great for controlled mining, where you could throw it and control the fuse for a bit more safety than dynamite, and take out some pesk critters in a cave below you. Perhaps craftable later on when (and if) Notch implements crafting.

Maybe not a Grenade. Maybe a Notchnade.
