    My tip: use /give command to find out the correct item name. Or, check the Minecraft Wiki (example: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Rotten_Flesh, look for "Name" in the InfoBox on the right)

    SOLVED: t seems there was something else causing the huge lag. Even with the white-list solution, the lag ended building up after almost a hour rendering the game unplayable. Then I discovered this in the jaff.cfg:

    general {
     # If this is true, alternate code will run to attempt to fix a bug
     # with optifine. Note that this code may cause issues and crashes,

    }

    Set it to false. No more lag.

    Oh I didn't know it. I understand someone might want to spawn dozens of a bird type via config. What if the spawn frequency were hardcoded to temperature x humidity and a global rate (instead of per-bird type rate) in the config?

    BTW, I've tried to tweak a config to make the birds a bit rarer. It seems spawn rate is still a bit too high for certain biomes.

    For example, peafowl in Plans biome. I used this:

     
    peafowl {
    B:canspawn=true
    I:maxspawn=1
    I:minspawn=1
    I:spawnfrequency=1
    }

    Result: Too many in a small region (see attached image).

    Bug: Tame parrots lose durability while on shoulder if player gets damage.

    Since parrots can be an armor piece, they are compatible with Armor Stands, NPCs and Bibliocraft Armor stands.

    Last question:


    - Pelicans can now be tamed and will fish for you. You can open their inventory by sneaking and right clicking.

    How do I tame pelicans? I gave them some raw fish and their heart icons popped up, but it seems nothing changed. o.O

    As for the smart moving thing. Yeah that's kind of a conflict of mods, so not sure I'll be fixing that soon D:
    The parrot follow/sitting thing was removed as I thought picking them up made that obsolete. But I could bring it back if necessary.

    I guess, the smart moving issue is the most difficult one and pretty much aesthetics. Kinda low importance for the time being.

    I'm not sure if the sitting and walking modes became definitely obsolete with the new features; I'm sure they are in a certain degree. On the other hand, the follow mode is a bit different: it's intuitive for players to expect the tame birds will follow them pretty much like they do with tame wolves and cats. Just my humble 2¢. :3

    When for the 1st time I've ever heard about Minecraft I was kind of "WTH of this game? Blocky and awkward, and people don't stop talking about it all the time"... thanks to lets-players like JJ5x5 and his I changed my mind.

    I kept watching letsplays for a long time to learn about the game. Then, I stumbled upon . Because of the music and the feeling of the game environment (it was beta), I finally decided to get MC.

    But 1st I tried the classic demo.



    This is my very 1st night:

    I spawned in a sand beach by a long and large lake. I didn't know how to punch trees, after a few tries I figured out I needed to hold down the mouse button. I looked away and thought it would be a nice idea to build my 1st shelter on a tree so hostile mobs couldn't get me.

    Lots of things I wasn't aware of. I didn't know I could make planks out of tree logs, I didn't know that creepers didn't burn on sunlight like zombies and skeletons, no weapons, no torches, I had set the fog level to max accidentally, the list of mistakes goes on... After the 1st sunrise, I looked at the creepers outside and waited uselessly for them to burn away... after a long wait, all I did was to jump off the shelter I built on a tree and run down the hills.



    ... I played on peaceful for a month.

    There's another thing I'd like to point out: the way how new features are showcased by Mojang and 3rd party sites like MCF. Depending on how poorly or well presented they showcase a new feature, the public tends to receive it (more) negatively or (more) positively.

    An example: stained clay blocks and colored wooden blocks.

    - Stained clay block was shown with examples of possible uses. People liked it.

    - Colored wooden blocks was shown in a palette with horribly saturated colors. People hated it, raged, said "why?! it's no use"... until a guy from Reddit made a barn with colored wooden blocks, if he had some. Then people regretted. Too late. Dinnerbone had given up on the idea.

    The same thing goes for sunflowers. A lot of people think 1.7 will be about sunflowers and nothing else, the reactions tell that... but there's a huge list of upcoming features that most of us is not aware of.

    My small list of 1.7 features that are being worked on (made specially for those who are saying Mojang is lazy or the update won't be interesting):

    - Terrain generation enhanced: the number of biomes will almost double.
    - new biomes: Clay Mountains, Redwood Forest, Cliff.
    - Oceans will have 2 biomes, a coastal and a deep one.
    - the current/old biomes will have variants.
    - cliffs, canyons, fancier and tree-covered mountains
    - UI improvement.
    - New decorative elements: sunflowers and falling particles.
    - bug fixes, no durability loss on a miss sword attack, lighting error fix.

    (could we expect some Easter Bone for 1.7? :3)

    I agree with the fact horse armor should be uncraftable, devs said it's some kind of award. But I think horse armor shouldn't be non-renewable.

    In SSP it's okay. Entire world is yours. If you lose an horse armor, you can explore further and generate new structures (dungeons, pyramids...) to have a chance of finding new ones. That's what I did with my world I've been playing on since beta 1.7.3. But it's not totally okay in SMP servers with enforced world limits, the horse armors are numbered since the start.

    Say, a small server with 2,000 x 2,000-block wide world (I played on one once), if it holds 10 or 15 players there'll be enough armors for everyone, but if it's open for a greater number of players, the new comers will have trouble to find horse armors since the first joiners might have looted all dungeons and pyramids of the server.

    As solution, I'd propose that horse armors should be a rare trade with Blacksmiths and keep it uncraftable. You still need to explore the map and luckily find a village, and the village with a Blacksmith alive, you'll need to trade with him a lot of times until he offers you a horse armor and then put him safe from zombie hordes.

    Thanks for updating the launcher, but still it needs some improvements aesthetic-wise anddisplays tons of info that interests the developers only. It could be toggle-able though.

    There are a few nice designs in the reddit that are worth considering.
