posted a message on How do I update to version 0.12.0.1?

    Hi,

This is a bit confusing, but in essence there are two different game versions in play.

One of them being the MCPE version, and the other being the Windows 10 Edition version. The current Windows 10 Edition version is 0.12.2.0 and the current MCPE version that the game is using is 0.12.0(.1).

The blog post was updated to use the MCPE version, although I find that a bit deceiving. You can check the current version you are on by right clicking Start and selecting "Command Prompt" -- use the following command:

    powershell Get-AppxPackage -Name Microsoft.MinecraftUWP

It should state "Version: 0.12.2.0" and if it does, you have the latest update. The game updates automatically.

posted a message on Crashes on Mojang startup screen

It's definitely interesting. The crash is likely being caused by interprocess-network communication, so it's likely a library that is crashing the game. There is no API (just checked) to get the full data path for the game with the username, so it's certainly not entirely the game's fault in this case for non-ASCII characters.

It's happening in the game binary though as I said previously, so it is definitely something that Mojang should be able to patch.

posted a message on Crashes on startup fullscreen

    Hi,

This is usually caused by issues with your graphics driver which may be solved by a driver update.

Please give us a DxDiag report.

You can manually disable the fullscreen setting by searching "PowerShell" at Start, right clicking the result and selecting "Run as an admin". Paste in the following:

    Add-Type -AssemblyName Microsoft.VisualBasic;$m = [Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction];$a="Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition";$b=$m::InputBox("Set the prefered launch mode.`n`n0: No prefered launch mode`n1: Prefer window mode`n2: Prefer full screen mode", $a, "0");try{$l=[int]$b;if(($b-lt0)-or($b-gt2)){exit;}}catch{};Set-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ApplicationFrame\WindowSizing\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -Name PreferredLaunchWindowingMode -Value $l;

And a window will open up asking for the screen preference, use "1" to force windowed mode, and "0" to let Windows decide (usually it's windowed mode).

    Hi,

You should not need to allocate more than 1GB to Minecraft.

Are you using any resource packs and/or mods to the game?

If not, can you give us a screenshot of the F3 menu and Task manager when you launch Minecraft?

I would just like to reinforce this issue as it is very important to me. I find it very difficult to distinguish many items from one another. I consider mouseover labels a must.

This has been suggested here, you can vote for it if it's something you would like to see in the game.

posted a message on How To Get The Windows Beta (free) To Work

    Hi,

If you've redeemed the code to a new Microsoft account then you should be set. I'm going to assume that you're logged into Windows with a local account and not a Microsoft account.

Go to the Windows Store, and press your profile icon at the top right and select "Sign in." This will take you to a window prompting you to add an account. Use the account that you redeemed your Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta code to and sign in. Once you've signed in, search for "minecraft windows 10 edition" at the Store and once you've found it, select "Install" and you should be able to play the game.

If you can't find it, use Win+R (or right click start -> Run) and type in the following and press OK:

    ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9NBLGGH2JHXJ
and you'll be taken to the Windows Store page where you can install the game.

    Hi,

You need to sign out of the Xbox app. You can do so by opening the Xbox app, and go to the settings page and select "Sign out."

After you've signed out, open Minecraft and it will ask you to sign into Xbox live. Press "Play" and sign in with your Microsoft account and the username should be set to your new Xbox gamertag.

posted a message on Can't get pass Mojang logo

    Hi,

If you're on Chrome or Firefox, right click this URL and select "Save link as..." and save the file as anything you wish; make sure "Save type as" is set to "Windows Batch File". A file will download. Once it has, run the file and it

If you're on Edge, use Win+R and type in:

    cmd /c bitsadmin.exe /transfer MCDL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/robot56/bc6e16499549d74e8ea2/raw/MCW10Edition-ExitCodeCheck.bat "%temp%\mcw10.bat" && cd %temp% && mcw10.bat
    and select "OK".

The script will get data from the Event log, when it runs it will prompt you to clear the existing event logs, select "OK" and then "Yes" to confirm.

Minecraft should then launch, and after a bit it should close and you should get another prompt telling you that Minecraft successfully ran, select "OK" to gather logs anyway.

Select "OK" after the script ran, and a notepad window should open. Copy everything in it and post it to https://gist.github.com/ -- press "Create Secret Gist" and give us the link to which it takes you.

If you wish to do this manually, you can do so by referring to this page. Although the page only lists "Application" you should also do the same for "System". In addition, expand "Applications and Services Logs" -> "Microsoft" -> "Windows" -> "Apps" -> "Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" and do the same for it. Once you've cleared the logs, run Minecraft and copy all the events that should appear once you have the issue and sumbit them to https://gist.github.com/ -- press "Create Secret Gist" and give us the link to which it takes you.

posted a message on Problem Downloading Minecraft for Windows 10

    Hi,

Once you've redeemed the gift code you may not redeem it again. That's not how gift codes work. Once it's been redeemed, it is permanently on your Microsoft account.

Sign in here with the account that you redeemed the code to: http://account.xbox.com/en-US/PaymentAndBilling/PaymentOptions?managePi=0 -- and check if "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta" is listed under "Transactions." If it is, you can get the game from the Windows Store by searching for it at the Store. If you're having difficulty finding it, right click start and Select "Run" and type in the following and thereafter press "OK":

    ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9NBLGGH2JHXJ
The Windows Store will open and you will be taken to the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta page where you should be able to install it. If you're asked to pay for it, sign out of the Store as seen here and sign back in with the account that redeemed the code and try again.

If it's not listed under "Transactions", then you need to contact Xbox support here and they will tell you which account that you redeemed the code to. Go to http://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us and select "Xbox on Windows 10" -> "Purchace verification" under "Store" and you should be able to call and/or chat with Xbox support.

Please make a new topic if you're having similar issues.

This a broad issue with Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition/Pocket Edition and how it saves the game. At times, the game will skip ticks if RAM is low or if the game is running behind in computations.

At times, the game may also have a large backlog of events that need to take place, and the time that the limited about of time the game is given to save the game may not be enough to get all those events done, causing an abrupt save.

This is not an issue on PC as worlds are automatically saved at a much faster frequency (2s?) so actually saving when someone presses "Save and quit to title" is not actually saving anything.

Put simply, if things are not saving for your device it is struggling to save properly. Lower your render distance to reduce RAM usage (and close other programs), and also lower your video settings if your game is visually lagging.

posted a message on Crashes on Mojang startup screen

    Hi,

It might be due to an application or service that's being started up that is causing RPC calls to fail, or it could be an issue with the current user's registry configuration.

Try using Win+R -> "msconfig.exe" -> and select "Diagnostic startup" and check if Minecraft starts up on your normal user account.

posted a message on Win 7 64bit --> Win 10 - Game will not launch

    Hi,

You're having issues with a native DirectX library, so this is likely due to a rendering issue.

There are quite a bit of injected libraries that may be causing the issue, notably:

    0x0000000180000000 - 0x000000018006c000 C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\RTSSHooks64.dll

Disable your graphics driver and try opening the launcher, does the issue persist?
