Sep 6, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on Snapshot 12w36a Ready For Testing!wait, so you can WEAR the heads? This could be fun to toy with. Mix and match critters like zombie-creepers by having a zombie wear a creeper helmet. stuff like that.Posted in: News

Aug 29, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on Decoration Blocks to Come; MineTV Episode 5I already love the item frames for displaying stuff. I plan to mount some of my successful pvp loots above my fireplace.Posted in: News
As for new decor, I want that same head item for every mob. Especially creepers. Rare drop perhaps.Be able to mount them on a wall using the item frames.
hrm...decoration.... could we get new styles of lamps/torches? They could be notably harder to craft and not particularly more useful, but more variety in lighting would always be good. Maybe a really subtle source of lighting for those big builds you don't want cramped with torches. Or something subtle that could deter mob spawning in an area without actually lighting it up, so we could use shading for making a build look cooler without it filling to the brim with mobs. -
Aug 23, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on 12w34a Snapshot Available for Testing!some of this stuff is HUGEPosted in: News
-mobs traveling through portals, bring your pig farm into the nether? hell, set up a village in the nether! Just for fun!
-hanging up multiple adjacent maps you could easily make a world map of your minecraft world and put copies of it at important locations
-whoa whoa, two new crops?
-WOODEN BUTTONS! I remember the easter bunny boss fight someone used boats or something bizarre in order to make lamps that reacted to arrows. THIS IS SO MUCH EASIER. -

How do you guys make decisions on what to implement in new patches? Is it based on what you think the majority of the players would want, or is it based on something else?
If 1.3.1 is any indication, It's a combination of:
-this guy made a mod and it's really cool, let's incorporate it into the game (ender chests, pistons)
-Vechs told us to, Hail Lord Vechs (NBT tags on spawners to modify them, poisoned silverfish spawning more silverfish)
-misc minor bugfixes, usually coupled with as many/more bug additions to keep things interesting -

well there goes vech's plan. I saw his vid, he isolated the ghast fireballs by logging in and out, then using MCedit. He'd then place them around and let us punch them to control them. >.< Hopefully he still has that saved I guess.
also, STRONGER CREEPERS? Why?! ;(
wait, WAIT
""Fixed blocks disappearing when you placing them under yourself and jumping""
WHERE CAN I GET THIS SNAPSHOT?! -
Jun 14, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on Snapshot 12w24a Available for Testing!the ender chest change sucks, but at least enchanting is easier. Hopefully by the time I can get one of those I HAVE a silk touch pick.Posted in: News

Jun 9, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on Snapshot 12w23b Ready For TestingI await these features eagerly, this will be one of the biggest patches I've ever seen added to the game.Posted in: News
How has it been going with the snapshot's "singleplayer = multiplayer" functionality? I remember going on multiplayer worlds and boats, pressure plates, and minecarts in particularly acting REALLY messed up. Can't wait for that kind of horrible server lag to be brought to multiplayer. -

May 27, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on 12w21b Snapshot Out - Fixes Bugs from 21a; MCX360 Beats Out Black Opseverything looks great except the removal of single player. I love being able to play without worrying about horrid latency. I look at multiplayer bugs and cringe. I can't fight, because my attacks don't register until the mob has attacked me twice, I can't place blocks because they spaz out, it's almost unplayable!Posted in: News
but I'm stuck with it because I know every map from here on will use those book+quills for notes. >.< -
May 25, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on 12w21b Snapshot Out - Fixes Bugs from 21a; MCX360 Beats Out Black OpsStill sounds too unstable for me, but they're adding great features. I can't wait for the official release of this stuff. Those books in particular will revolutionize notes in custom maps. If you want a picture, edit an ingame map into one with mods, if you want notes, instead of a wall of signs, put them in a book. It's brilliant.Posted in: News
Plus I'll keep a recipe book for annoying stuff to memorize like how to build a piston or cake. I always forget those.
And I might actually use creative! Look at that design, that's even more convenient than TooManyItems! -
May 25, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on Snapshot 12w21a Available for TestingSo empty buckets stack, to what amount? 64?Posted in: News
What about Water/lava/milk buckets, do those stack at all?
I'd test this myself but I'm worried about the level corruption part, my precious saves. >.< -
May 23, 2012Experiment626 posted a message on An Interesting Plugin Manager; An Interesting Mob Farming MethodSo simple even I can do it!Posted in: News
I like this mob farm design, I was actually able to build it, unlike some of the really giant contraptions, and got a very high yield of skeletons out of my spawner. All I needed supply-wise for my compact version (without the winding water tunnels) was building blocks, a water bucket, and the spawner.
It's always better to have a simpler design I can actually memorize. - To post a comment, please login.

some timing based piston jumping puzzles are off for a similar reason, making them harder/impossible.
As for that mention of rapid repeaters, I hooked a crude one (not good at redstone >.<) to a dispenser. 1.2.5, that thing shot off a barrage of arrows. Now it always fires precisely four. No pistons in that, but there you go.
0
though I suppose this would be a lot easier to set up than a mega melon farm, less pistons needed in particular. That's the cost I suppose.

It's weird, I know. >.<

SSP is worse (but playable) boo!
we get tons of new features, yay!
my yay's outnumber my boo's.

I have overall noticed very little stability change from SSP, I hope laggy multiplayer servers are this good. I'm really glad for the lillypad change in particular. Stupid quad mountain and its stupid lillypad ocean...
0
-the ability to place and fully modify mob spawners in creative mode by placing a pig spawner from the menu and then right clicking it. that means the charged creepers, potion effects, the whole nine yards
-mob spawner eggs for some scary boss monsters to put in adventure maps
-MOAR BLOX
-use for ocean biomes. add higher visibility underwater and some ocean biome specific goodies
-enchantable fishing poles for decreased catch time and a rarer "fire aspect" style enchant that pre-cooks the fish! and of course unbreaking
0
the piston lag is breaking contraptions left and right though, that's annoying. Elevators and most timed piston jumping puzzles are wonky.

it'll need to have all the textures updated to 1.3 though, sounds like this is a little old.

also if not done already, some sort of ceiling of bedrock/obsidian to keep the forest nice and dark. Though there runs the risk of endermen being far from the worst things lurking around. You can't really set it to "allow only spawning of endermen, no other hostile mobs"
I see much potential in this map. I'm mostly running off of descriptions by people who've tried it though, I'll have to look at the map myself for additional constructive criticism.
some more things I'm brainstorming as I think back to the Slender game:
-crappy torch = obsidian roof makes it constant nighttime, and you only get a few torches?
-optional hardcore mode?
-the "notes" = written books or edited maps? As people look at it, the hidden enderman spawner activates spawning aforementioned godmode slenderman
-difficulty sprinting for extended period of time = could just give the player no food, start him off starving, then each of the notes only giving you a couple of cookies or melons for a very temporary sprint and no health regen. For health, potions, that way you can limit that too.

textures I love:
-diamond/iron armor
-overall staying faithful enough to the basic texture pack that adventure maps don't end up looking weird
-those paintings o_O
textures I don't like:
-leather looks goofy :/
-I prefer fancy king clothes as gold armor
-cobblestone + mossy cobblestone look too different, so meshing them together in builds looks weird
this is probably my most used texture pack next to painterly, love it overall.

I think that's because you're using the pre-release 1.3, servers are probably mostly 1.2.5. I don't know how/why it works, but servers and you have to be on the same minecraft version.
Any way, this mod is so crucial to my gameplay (jumping puzzles are nearly impossible with my typical crap framerate) that I am just going to camp here for the next 1-10 weeks it takes for this to update.
Anyone have a flint and steel for a campfire?
