Hmm. I can't get the legacy fix to work either because I too don't have a folder name 'virtual' in 'assets'. While this is mildly annoying, I'll just play Hexxit in the interim.

    Quote from Relyh

I've modified the resource pack linked so people no longer have to edit the sounds folder themselves. I've also removed all excess folders leaving only sounds, music, and records. It has been stated that this only fixes the game sounds and not the music (I can't confirm as I always play with music disabled), if this is the case just disable your music. If you can't play without background music for a day then you have bigger problems than Mojang swapping sounds on you. Also, I have loaded this up and personally tested it. It successfully replaces my game sounds with the default Minecraft sounds without any issue.

Quote the (now) two posts containing the fixes guys! Hopefully we can somewhat soothe the Complain-a-tron before it gets anymore out of hand.

-Everyone should know how to install a resource pack by this point, I'd hope.

Thank you, don't know how I missed your post reading through the first time. That pack is a godsend.

I voted in agreement. As many people above have said, the inability to turn without accelerating really sucks, as does the lack of a way to slow down. Even if the next update just allowed the S key to slow us and absolutely nothing else was done it would still be a huge help.

5/10. The glasses are cute but the stuck out tongue is the anime version of duckface, so loss of points there.

posted a message on Since when is minecraft a constant onslaught of zombies?
After playing for a few hours, the zombie upgrade isn't actually that big a deal. In fact, thanks to their ability to find their way to you from just about anywhere, they're even easier to kill than before. My strategy goes like so:

    1) Make something similar to this...

    2) Commence the slaughter.

Now obviously there are much more efficient ways of doing this, not to mention mob grinders and traps, but for the first night or people like myself who don't have the inclination or materials for more advanced disposal techniques, this works fine. The biggest problem is that distant Skeletons have a clear shot at you, but a couple dirt blocks will nullify the threat they pose easily enough.

Unless I'm mistaken, the seed is "MinecraftDev" from the title, although I don't know if it's supposed to be all caps or not.

Great job, this and your Creeper Apocalypse quiz are the best things I've found so far today.

posted a message on Zombies spawn and hording AI
I have to say, I like the new spawning system for the zombies. Personally, unless I'm stuck in a tight corner I find it nearly impossible to die no matter how many there are, and there is something about smashing their unthinking skulls in over and over that appeals deeply to me.

That being said, I will agree that the spawn rates should be scaled based on the difficulty setting. No need to punish the casual gamer just because most others enjoy a bit more of a challenge.

On an entirely unrelated note, zombies should totally be able to break down wooden doors on Normal instead of just on Hard.

Ha, I don't believe folks are still moaning about bloody craftable saddles; the update is coming out in two days. It is what it is.

It is the sovereign right of everyone on the Internet to complain about whatever they please, even when the issue is already dead :-D

posted a message on Saddles should be craftable
The thing that I don't understand is how horses and saddles are considered mid to end-game content. In fact, how does Minecraft even have a mid or end game? If you're going by resources and the progression of increasingly better/more functional/rarer things you can build from them, then whether or not you hit the 'midgame' or 'endgame' within the first few in-game weeks is entirely luck.

Case in point: my first new world after the Redstone Update spawned me at the edge of a taiga biome, next to a cave that lead almost straight down to lava and was studded with resources along the way. By the end of the first week I had diamond armour, a Nether portal, Eyes of Ender and was looking for a stronghold. I was at the 'endgame' in my first eight hours of the world.

Now obviously the above situation isn't going to happen very often (understatement of the century), and I still consider it the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me while playing, but nonetheless I think my point is obvious. As for how it relates to saddles, well I do think that they should be craftable, but as several posters have previously mentioned, they should degrade. Horses should also require significantly more effort to tame and train, rather than just spamming RMB until you get one.

As for the complaints about horses themselves upsetting the balance and rendering pigs obsolete: pigs suck. I have never once felt the need to even look at a pig other than when I've been starving and there was no other food nearby, and I definitely didn't go out of my way to find a village and carrots to make them suck a little less. Hell, unboosted pigs are actually slower than walking, and boosting them destroys your stick and carrot.

I just started playing this morning... and got my ass handed to me in the first round XD. Still, I had fun, and if nothing else this mini-game will definitely make me a better fighter in vanilla MC. Great job :)
