posted a message on How Bad Are You With Redstone?
I can do basic stuff. I feel like I suck though when comparing myself to people like Etho and others of that skill level. When I want to make something complicated, I look for a how-to video. Sort of like in real life when trying to assemble something complicated, I read the instructions instead of trying to wing it.

Thank goodness for all the redstone experts who post their gizmos on youtube, YAY!

posted a message on So called "girl gamers" ...
I´ll say it again, because I´m still here... I am a female gamer. I have been playing games longer than most people here have been walking and talking. Sometimes I really suck in a game that I can never seem to get a handle on. In others, I´ve been hugely successful. I first began online gaming back when you paid by the minute for internet use (omg, the bills could be so HUGE!!!!), with crappy dialup that booted you out of your game when you got a phone call.

I could not care less what anyone thinks about my abilities as a gamer because I play and pay for my entertainment, not yours. If someone mistakes friendliness for flirtatious behavior, it's because of their preconceptions of female gamers and not from any overt actions on my part. I am pretty upfront about being happily married, and not interested in any virtual romance. I also tell most people I'm a grandmother, which usually stops any of that sort of thing before it even starts.

Yes, older people play games too. They don't belong only to kids. I've had kids snidely suggest that I do something more suitable for my age, and I wonder if they have this image of everyone suddenly taking up bingo and knitting once they reach the magical cutoff age for games. Tell you what, I won't assume you're an obnoxious opinionated twit, if you don't assume I´m a virtual **** with spaghetti for brains looking for a gaming sugardaddy to hold my hand and give me stuff. Sound okay to you?

Grow up for heaven's sake. That type of attitude only makes you sound like a misogynistic, prepubescent caveman. Half of the world's population is female. Some of them even design games you may play.

Is it "off topic" or "off-topic"? Just for clarification, since both are given as the seed.

    Thanks for answering that. :D
Just in case you didn't know, you can put dye in the center slot of your crafting table and surround it with hardened clay blocks. You will get 8 blocks of colored hardened clay, in colors that aren't in the mesa.

And for future reference, you can combine balls of clay (like you find in riverbeds etc) to make blocks of clay, then cook the blocks to make hardened clay. If you just cook the clay balls you get the other bricks, the ones that look like traditional bricks used for homes.I love this seed! I found a little village and it is surrounded by really pretty hills. I set up a home there for awhile to explore. Thanks for the pretty seed. ^_^

can you make brick with the found clay

If you are asking about the hardened clay, it is already a brick with no further need to cook it in the furnace. It isn't like the clay balls found when digging up clay in riverbeds. And already colored too!!!

posted a message on Need help with a slime farm
I saw a youtube video by docm77 (I just love him to pieces) on an adapted version of a slime farm (I think the original design was by Etho, another player I heart bigtime!). I thought the idea was great, so I started a huge farm, a 3x3 chunk spawn pad. I am lucky to have a + shaped spawnable area in that spot, so 5 of the 9 spots are slime chunks.

I dug down to bedrock, then built up and put the spawning pad on y:10, so I would have room for the 3 block deep water channel on the sides. This part works great so far. Kudos to doc's design! It works so well I am thinking of adding a second layer to the farm. So now here come the questions.

    1. Do I need to put the second layer on y:15, or y:16 in order to get the best results? Layer 1 leaves a 4 block high roof if I make the floor/roof only 1 block thick. It also makes for great lighting, since I only have to put it in that single layer to effectively light up both spawn pads. Layer 16 would let me have either a 2 layer second floor/first floor roof, or a single layer floor/roof with a 5 block high space on the first floor.

I couldn't find out the answer by googling, and due to the size of the project, I would rather not waste resources building a test version. The first floor alone took a huge amount of time and resources to build.

    2. Will the slimes jump off of the upper spawn pad into the lower level water channel? Or do I need to modify the spawn pad (probably going wider so as to not lose any slime spawn blocks) and give the upper layer its own water channel?

For anyone interested, I wrote about this world back when I first started playing minecraft, about a year and a half ago. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1233853-very-strange-find-in-the-wilderness/ It has an interesting ravine that exposes a stronghold library, and it is still my favorite world. The seed is 8396802635627402183. The slime chunks are very close by, the spawn pad extends from x:543 to x:496, and z:-799 to z:-752. Not sure if the world would still spawn the same way in this current version, but I do have a pretty old backup version from a few days after I found it if you would like the original. There is a double skeleton spawner under the second library (yes, the stronghold has 2 libraries!) and the earliest backup version I have includes a skeleton farm setup already completed, but nothing else built.

Hopefully I can get some definitive answers, with all the experts here. Thank you.

posted a message on my flatworld survival(i need help with ironfarm)
I saw a great iron farm tutorial on youtube by docm77. I don't recall if the design was his or if he was just showing how to build the farm, but I built it on my world (not flat, sorry) and it is working great. Not too sure if it would work on a flat model since part of the plan includes a lava blade to soften the golems up for an easy kill. But I think it might be adapted easily enough to drown them, if you don't need the xp. Here's a link to the tutorial.

Story of my life. My husband says it's all in my mind, and not really as complicated as I think it feels like it is. Yeah, right. Easy for him to say!

I watched paulsoaresjr's (http://www.youtube.c...er/paulsoaresjr) Survive and Thrive Tutorials. I learned everything from him, and I watched the whole series in a few weeks. I started getting used to everything and now I know basically everything :)
I loved him! I started watching him after my first month of the game, and the devastating loss of my first world (Because I was such a noob I didn't know you should or could make a backup copy of your world. Just in case.).

I'm still a noob and probably will be for a long time.
Me too. Even though I learn something new every day, I sometimes learn it the hard way. Like losing my entire Minecraft world saves, because it was all on my great computer, Then the computer died horribly, and the hard drive along with it. The only reason I have a link to the time I started playing a year and a half ago was a saved on a laptop. I had used it for awhile while in bed for a week after an injury. Note to myself for the future: put my save files on a different device, just in case.

I can't seem to make the furnace work. I can add ingredients to the top box but can't add fuel. I've tried coal, oak, and birch. None will go in the box and I can't drag them there either. I cannot make glass or charcoal, so far these are all I've tried to craft in the furnace. And yes, I am using (trying anyway) wood planks as fuel, not the logs.

A noob question here! My husband bought me a kindle fire and I bought the PE game version for it since I love the PC version so much. I would like to try some of the custom maps but since I just got this kindle today I have no idea how to add a custom map and would appreciate some help from someone who knows how to do this.

Thanks in advance, I can't wait to try some of the custom maps I've looked at here. :)

A jungle island, not small, fairly good-sized. The whole island is loaded with cows, they're everywhere you turn. There's a big hole in the ground just to the side of a small pond that leaks down into the big hole so you can get a free ride! Not deep enough to be a ravine, but it had some nice resources in it. Off in the distance across the ocean a bit you can see a swamp island.

I didn't explore it any further than to take a quick trip around, because I didn't know it was an island at first until I went around it once.
