ill say happy birthday when the xbox update comes but til then i dont care bout u or how old ur turning
Alright then, let's see you make the latest update if time is so very much on your side.
On another note, happy birthday Notch, you've honestly made plenty of shut-ins happy with your game. I'm glad you're younger than you look, because that means you can keep this game alive as long as you want.

But still, I don't think many would take this idea as too useful unless they like to screw around with physics (Even though PORTAL costs ten dollars on Steam). I enjoy the idea of this.

Anyway, this mod is just great. It's a fun parallel to the Nether, and doesn't punish you for falling into *"hazards". It's new, it's fun, it's got new laws, and it's just overall a great mod. If I had known about this from day 1, I would have just patiently waited, because you don't rush something as awesome as this.
*The "Void" area (Below Layer 1) is what I mean as a "hazard", Lava being the Nether's "hazard" since the void is virtually inaccessible without being assaulted in the Nether.

Anyway, if you want any special suggestions, might I ask for something to edit mods with? Mainly for the purpose of tweaking mods with easy to fix bugs that are really irritating in gameplay. Believe me, if you teach a lazy idiot like me Java coding, I WILL make bugs like that.

Okay, I used that seed for myself one time. I'll guarantee that there's a ton of gravel, there is indeed iron ore, coal, but there is not gold ore or Diamond.

Other solution:
Did you alter any System Files in either Java or minecraft.jar? If so, run the updater for Java, or just delete minecraft.jar.
If you're using a Mac, I can't help you there. I use windows, that's what I know about Minecraft to a T when it comes to specific stuff.
EDIT: This solution probably won't work. You've already tried reinstalling.

Basically, you spawn in a small sandy area with three or so mountains around you. Somewhere near you, off of one of the mountains, is a waterfall. Next to said mountain are Lightwood(?) trees. It's a strange environment IMO.
