    I have noticed this occur after long durations on my external testing server, but have yet to narrow down the cause.

    I will try to look into some long term local server testing, if you can find a quick way to make this happen please let me know, I should be able to get it fixed.

    I don't think it should be related to packets, as I haven't changed how I deal with those lately, but it chould be somehow related to that.

    Thanks for the reply. I think the fastest way to reproduce the lag and "can't keep up!" messages is to get on a flying pokemon and fly in a straight line to generate as much world as possible. My server starts lagging sooner if multiple people are playing and moving around the map generating chunks.

    This does sound like some kind of memory leak. I have heard that these are most typically caused by bad packet handling within one (or more) or your mods. If the only mods you have installed, are PokeCube mods, then I'd suggest casting a vile look at Thutmose. :P

    Can you quantify " a while"? When I run a modpack server online, I typically make sure that it auto-restarts once or twice a day.

    A memory leak definitely seems fitting. Yeah I wouldn't mind once a day maintenance but for me the lag gets unbearable within an hour sometimes. The lag seems correlated with map generation in that if I fly around it tends to worsen things more quickly. But again, because the server never recovers, some sort of memory leak seems to be the culprit.

    First, I wanted to say thank you very much for all the great work! My friends and I have been having a great time with this mod on a new 1.12.1 server I'm hosting. I am experiencing a few server related issues and was wondering if anyone could help.

    I'm running a fresh forge 1.12.1-14.22.0.2462 server with only the required pokecube mods installed. Everything works fine, even with up to 6 players, but after a while the server gets behind and repeatedly spams the following message: "Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 2116ms behind, skipping 42 tick(s)". Once it reaches this point, the server continues to slowly get further behind, even if all players disconnect, and eventually crashes. Is this because of my forge version? Memory Issue? I'm allocating plenty of memory to the server. Here is my start up .bat:

    @Echo off
    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144\bin\java.exe" -server -d64 -Xms4G -Xmx12G -jar forge-1.12.1-14.22.0.2462-universal.jar
    exit

    If anyone can shed some light on this issue I would be most grateful. Thanks.

    Thanks very much for the guide Shmoozen! It helped immensely! The only thing you may want to add to your OP is the fact that the 64bit path to java is different if the person is using 64bit java. It's a simple change (remove the (x86) from program files) but I could see it confusing people.

    OP, you've got it down wrong. You put "- Beds do not act as the spawn point in SMP"

    It has been confirmed by myself and others that beds DO act as a spawn point in SMP, but not in SSP. This is because the spawn point is set upon clicking the "Leave Bed" button, which does not exist in SSP (singleplayer).

    It seems that Bed spawn points will work in Multiplayer but not singleplayer. To change your spawn, you have to click the "Leave Bed" button which only appears in multiplayer. This explains why so many are disagreeing on whether or not bed spawning works. Has anyone gotten the bed spawning to work in singleplayer?
