First the FTB Forums and now Minecraftforum.net. Someone is intentionally trying to kill Minecraft.

That's it? No wonder I play modded minecraft instead of vanilla when this is all they put out.

Could someone tell me why there are so many snapshots on Minecraft vanilla? I've always played modded and therefore the packs don't change as quickly, but I look at the news feed on this forum and all I see if snapshot dolphins, snapshot kelp textures, snapshot tropical fish, etc. Please excuse me, I don't mean to be negative, but those seem to be extremely minor, if not irrelevant changes, that could all be lumped together.

I am probably the only person in the world who does not care in the slightest about this addition. IMO, there are far better things to added to Minecraft than turtles.

Just look at Don Quichote: the entire thing is the story of a guy that has read so many chivalry stories that he's gone crazy with it and thinks the real world obeys the same rules as the books, leading him to all kinds of misadventures. All that because everyone knows that books are bad for you and they rot your brain and you're never going to learn how to be normal if you just sit in front of that #*@ book all day!
Your post made me think of the guy I met once who spoke like he was in a fantasy novel. He was well spoken (at least according to the genre), knew lots of big words, and had the confidence level that keeps someone from being a "nerd." Regardless, the guy sounded like a big goofball every time he opened his mouth and you constantly found yourself stopping to reorganize what he said into "today's vernacular."
I don't think video games are negative in and of themselves, but when it comes to kids growing up, they should be outside more than they are in front of the screen. This coming from someone with a 5 year old who is more addicted to Skylanders than crack.

I am a modded survival player who primarily builds tech structures and I enjoy reaching automation milestones. I guess you could say it is much like what I do every day at work, continue to take steps forward despite adversity. Whether the problem is not enough iron, the blood moon rising, or an upset client, you have to be able to see the bigger picture, analyze the problem, and decide what the next step is.

I used to get that problem in another game I play not sure sure what causes it. Being the fact that I had it in another game, I would bet money it is a graphic driver issue. Try updating yours and see if that helps.

It is in my opinion that anything that offers more options to the player is a good thing. Just because I don't play FTB Infinity on hard mode doesn't mean having the option isn't a good idea.

I would be happy to help teach if you if you want, it really isn't all that difficult once you get over the initial hump.
1. Identify what version of Minecraft you are running (1.10, 1.9.4, 1.7.10, etc)
2. Go to a site that offers Minecraft mods such as http://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft
3. Use the drop down menu to select the version of mod you want, example, 1.7.10 (that is the version I play)
4. Look through the mods available and select something fun. I'll use EnderIO for my example, which is the 3rd mod listed.
5. Create a folder on your desktop to store mods in. This is particularly helpful if your world crashes or you need to reload mods for some reason. I call my folder Favorite MC Mods and save the files to that folder.
6. Locate your Minecraft folder. This is done slightly different for every type of operating system. But eventually you will find Minecraft. Inside of there look for a folder called Mods.
7. Copy the mod from your Favorite MC Mods folder to the Minecraft Mods folder and close it.
8. Load Minecraft and see if you did it right. You should know pretty quick if you didn't because the game won't load.
Another way to get into modded MC is to look up one of the Launchers that are available like FTB (Feed the Beast), Curse Launcher, ATLauncher, Technic Launcher. A person can sift through all the premade packs and load them up! In my opinion, check out FTB Monster modpack, it will be the closest to what you are looking for in terms of difficulty. It won't be as hard as what I mentioned, but you might be surprised all the same.
I have spent hours on Curse looking at mods and trying to find a completely obscure mod that I might find fun, even if someone else wouldn't. I hope that helps.

Fun and interesting are subjective. Just because YOU don't find it fun, doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

Why don't you add mods like Lycante's Mobs, Elemental Creepers, Bloodmoon (this is exactly what you want to be honest, you can't sleep when its up, tons more mobs spawn, and they are extra aggressive), Difficult Life (Standard creepers have 264 health), Twilight Forest, Deadly World, Special Mobs, Mutant Creatures, Infernal Mobs, and if that isn't enough, start adding mods like Hunger Overhaul.
If you added all of the above, your world would simply be punishing.

People ALWAYS have freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences.

Wanted: Someone to play FTB Infinity with on my server. Specifically want someone willing to play a cooperative build and share resources. Strongly prefer someone who can play in the evenings CST timezone. Age isn't that important, but I am a mature player. Feel free to inbox me here or inbox me your skype and we can arrange starting a new world together.

Creativerse has this effect. I don't think it is necessary personally.

The thing about it is everyone wants something different in a server. I only want an extremely small private server, not an open one. The only thing you can do is advertise and be active on forums. Read people's posts and offer them to come join if you have what they are looking for.

Ore Cruncher, you are right about paying for Minecraft initially of course, at least I did. But I buy a game without the expectation of getting more content for free. That is actually (likely) the largest reason for Minecraft's success, the mods keep the game fresh. As for optional... I play the FTB packs exclusively and I can pretty much guarantee that by time Infinity (or any other kitchen sink mod) updates to 1.9, the bugs will be worked out.

I am sorry you are having a hard time, I feel your pain. I read somewhere that there was a specific version of java that runs MC smoother than the newer iterations (although I could not cite a source). Perhaps try a few older versions? And for the record, if your OS is 643 bit, make sure your java is too. Don't forget, as a last resort, wipe your rig clean and install everything fresh.

It is amazing just how many people complain about getting something completely free and completely optional. It's not like you are forced to play 1.9. Wake up and grow up.

@dbkson It is possible that 2 programs are conflicting with each other. Games are in fact one of the worst things we can put on our computer because most of them will change settings for the game can run optimally. If 2 settings are changed and conflict with each other, all sorts of strange things can happen.

There is something running on your computer in the background that is hogging resources. The first thing I would do is boot into safe mode without networking, run your anti virus and anti spyware, run a scan for bad sectors on the hard disc, then defragment the entire drive. Next I would go into the list of programs that start up when the computer turns on and shut off everything that isn't an essential operating system process. Reboot into normal mode and see if that clears the lag. If it doesn't open the system manager and manually shut down every single process that doesn't cause your computer to shut off. If that clears the lag, you can start shutting them off 1 at a time to see what program is stuttering. (I have a program called dragon gaming center on my MSI that monitors system resources. If that is on when i played certain games, I lag like crazy). If all of that fails, try a fresh install of Minecraft and all launchers. Lastly, as a last resort, reformat.
