First the FTB Forums and now Minecraftforum.net. Someone is intentionally trying to kill Minecraft.

That's it? No wonder I play modded minecraft instead of vanilla when this is all they put out.

Could someone tell me why there are so many snapshots on Minecraft vanilla? I've always played modded and therefore the packs don't change as quickly, but I look at the news feed on this forum and all I see if snapshot dolphins, snapshot kelp textures, snapshot tropical fish, etc. Please excuse me, I don't mean to be negative, but those seem to be extremely minor, if not irrelevant changes, that could all be lumped together.

I am probably the only person in the world who does not care in the slightest about this addition. IMO, there are far better things to added to Minecraft than turtles.

Just look at Don Quichote: the entire thing is the story of a guy that has read so many chivalry stories that he's gone crazy with it and thinks the real world obeys the same rules as the books, leading him to all kinds of misadventures. All that because everyone knows that books are bad for you and they rot your brain and you're never going to learn how to be normal if you just sit in front of that #*@ book all day!
Your post made me think of the guy I met once who spoke like he was in a fantasy novel. He was well spoken (at least according to the genre), knew lots of big words, and had the confidence level that keeps someone from being a "nerd." Regardless, the guy sounded like a big goofball every time he opened his mouth and you constantly found yourself stopping to reorganize what he said into "today's vernacular."
I don't think video games are negative in and of themselves, but when it comes to kids growing up, they should be outside more than they are in front of the screen. This coming from someone with a 5 year old who is more addicted to Skylanders than crack.

I am a modded survival player who primarily builds tech structures and I enjoy reaching automation milestones. I guess you could say it is much like what I do every day at work, continue to take steps forward despite adversity. Whether the problem is not enough iron, the blood moon rising, or an upset client, you have to be able to see the bigger picture, analyze the problem, and decide what the next step is.

Try using the random name generator at chaotic shiny for ideas. That's what I do when I get stuck.

You lost me at hunger overhaul and spice of life. These mods do nothing but add another layer of unnecessary grind.

Start using the Twitch launcher. It makes adding mods a lot easier.

Birch. Half the time you cant craft with them which makes them useless.

If you are getting 100+ people into discord but no one into the game, something in your discord is driving people off. It could be no one talking, someone taking too long to answer a question, a troll user stealing people to their server, etc etc etc.
The other thing to remember is everyone wants something different in minecraft. At one point, I only joined whitelisted survival modded servers with low populations where I could make friends. Now I only join open modded survival with the pack I want to play AND IS STABLE. I would never join a pvp server of any kind.

First and foremost, make a file somewhere to keep all of your internet passwords in. If you do this, you will not need to worry about not having a physical disc to install your software. Example, you buy MC Java but 5 years from now you want to reinstall it after a 4 year break. You don't have a physical disc to install with, but you do have your log in and password sheet that you created. Simply refer to the sheet, go to the web address and redownload it.

I build upper efficient automations that handle every aspect of my minecraft life. Oh wait... you cant do that in vanilla...

Its better than the 13 year olds with names about illicit drugs or 3 numeral indications that they are some how a rebel.

Vanilla MC is to modded MC as checkers is to chess.

As long as mod devs keep producing and updating mods, Minecraft will never die.

As someone who is completely immune to banner advertisements and other forms of "oh look, there's a server!" I can tell you what I have seen that draws my attention to a server. Look for people who make posts on forums saying that they are looking for a server and then send them a private message why they might like yours. If i go looking for a server, I typically check servers by newest created (on the FTB forums) and go from there. Nothing I hate worse than finding a server and then finding out it has been shut down. I look at server features a lot. Do they have ranks, starter kits, are they survival or just mini games, etc etc. I generally look at their website and try to find out about them, do they offer donator options and if so, what? Do they have excessively banned items? etc.
Last but not least, the most important feature of them all is the thing better not lag when I finally join. Hope that helps.

I tried to post a picture of the graph but I was unable to so here is a link to a Google analytics search of the word Minecraft. 2012 showed the highest turn out for searches (marked as 100, although I dont know what that means) and we are currently at 33 (again not real sure what that means).
Uruguay shows the highest interest marked at 75, United States 42, and India 2.

I enjoy multiblock and upgradable items. Think MFR for multiblock and Iron Chests for upgardable options. I also love new dimensions of any kind.
