posted a message on I need a lighting only mod, please help
The way the new lighting works makes minecraft completely unplayable for my bf. He's tried to play it with the smooth lighting on and off and it just doesn't work. He can barely even look at the screen for 10mins before he starts getting a huge headache from it.

Is there any kind of lighting only mod that can completely revert the lighting back to the way it originally was (before 1.8)? If there isn't then this would be a request for someone to make one that will be compatible with the final version of the game.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum >_<

Does he have any known light sensativity or motion issues? I was getting headaches at work from my monitor so I bought some computer glasses. Not sure if they'd help, and they're not usually cheap. But might be worth a look for general eye health anyway. I got mine at gunnars.com.

he doesn't have the best vision but I've never known him to get any kind of motion sickness or light sensativity and if that is the case then he doesn't have the type of money to throw at a pair of glasses even if they do help. Thank you for that site though for future reference if either of us ever has some extra cash sometime.

I've played with the smooth lighting in my game now and I don't see that much of a difference between the two options except that one is a bit smoother then the other. His problem is that he can't play with that type of lighting at all apparently. Does anyone know of a lighting only mod that can completely revert the lighting to was it originally was?

Recently my bf has been unable to even look at minecraft for longer then 10mins (if that) without it giving him a huge headache. It would appear as though the new way that light generates is the problem (how it now fades/is smoother). Is there any way to fix this so he can play again, maybe some kind of graphics mod that can revert the lighting back to the way it originally was? He loves the game and is a bit distraught that he can no longer play it.

Thanks in advance for any viable suggestions.

I don't mind if he has to delay the game to fix stuff but what bothers me is the people who get pissed off because he is fixing stuff faster now in a bid to make the deadline he set for the game.

    I have :wink.gif:

Then it is his loss and when he complains about the price of the official game then you'll get to say 'I told you so' or something along that line.

It sucks when people misunderstands that. My friend haven't bought minecraft yet, I asked him why. And he said because he thought that he would have to pay for the full release as well as the beta.

I wonder if there is many other players who thinks the same...

You need to tell him that he'll get the full game but any possible major updates MIGHT cost money...a big MIGHT on that though because Notch has not stated anything as far as I know about DLC or making anyone pay for it.

This. Guys, this is a ridiculous claim. Notch changed that clause because the alternative was that he promised to never make something so awesome and time consuming that it was worth paying for and actually getting money out of it. He changed it because the future is a mystical, mysterious thing, and you should never say never. He's not saying that he intends to make paid updates a thing - he's saying "I don't want to prohibit our company from ever doing them." He made the change last year. Do you guys think he had any concrete conception of what Minecraft would be like post-release, at the time? I bet if you said "enderdragon" to him, he'd say "end-wha?"

Maybe nothing will come of this little possibility. Maybe something will. Presumably Mojang will have to make a substantial piece of DLC to charge us for it.

I guess people are afraid of paying a couple of dollars extra every now and then for a great game even though they already pretty much own the full game already...

Obviously OP can't read as it clearly states that ONLY Alpha testers will get minecraft for free forever and that beta users will only get everything free up until the games official release.
Being an Alpha tester is like buying the collecter's eddition to a game but instead of getting a cute little mousepad and a book filled with game art the alpha testers will be getting all future updates for free for being the first ones to test the game and spread the news about it by word of mouth.
Personally I think it is fitting for the people who helped Notch push the game into beta and ultimately to completion get rewarded and really, Notch could have rewarded Alpha players with ANYTHING but he just happened to decide that it would be all future major content for free.

Not and Alpha user? Sorry, sucks to be you.

posted a message on Question about buying minecraft
on the rare occasion that I do buy something online I go through paypal and I've always been made aware of the final price before I hit the accept button, unfortunately I dont know if doing it with a prepaid would have some kind of tax attached to it. I'm sure if the card had some kind of extra charge though it would let you know before you got to the final accept. I suppose you could try linking a paypal account to your prepaid card and try it that way..not sure if that would actually work though :sad.gif:

edit: when I paid for minecraft with paypal I didn't get charged extra then the price i was expecting

posted a message on Minecraft not working
I've recently had alot of problems with firefox freezing up so I took it over to my friends house for him to look at but to no avail. I tried doing a system restore but that didn't help firefox so now I'm forced to use google chrome atm...not sure if that has anything to do with my problem

    Anyway,

i cant run minecraft at all since I got my computer back. It won't load no matter what i do. It's also not showing up in my programs and apps window for me to uninstall it (not even my revo uninstall is finding it). I backed up my saves and deleted every minecraft file and tried to re-download it and reinstall but now all it's doing is creating an empty .minecraft folder in my roaming folder. I tried making a secondary user account on my computer to download and install minecraft to it but again, all it is doing is creating an empty folder.

I'm not very good with computers and with all the previous problems I was having with firefox not working last week I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to fix minecraft now.
