I'd suggest having a pack that clips onto the back of the shoe (mostly so it doesn't get broken off if your shoe brushes against the side of something, also it's not as noticeable) but low profile enough that it doesn't irritate the back of your foot. A belt mounted battery would be nice but yeah the wiring could be difficult. Maybe have it snake down and rest along your upper leg and generate energy from that, instead of all the way down to your shoe?
Hmm, those are some very valid points. I like the idea of it clipping onto the back of your shoe. Thank you!
Pretty
cool idea, but I'm wondering something. Do you plan to have a battery
integrated into the shoe itself that can be removed if necessary and
used to charge your phone? Or are you looking to run a wire up your
pants and into a battery that can be carried on a belt or in a bag?
Wire up the pants would be a huge hassle for getting on and off and could be a tripping hazard... so we are leaning towards something on the shoe, however we aren't sure where/how to place it so it wouldn't be bulky and unappealing. So in that sense, a belt mounted battery would be a much more appealing idea.
I haven't seen a released product, so I don't think any of these headed anywhere useful. Personally, I'd think that you could hang a dynamo from the side of the shoe and get better results while not being too inconvenient, but I'm no mechanical engineer. Solar cells could work too. Or you could get creative and do something along the lines of this:
They tie two strings to a backpack and your shoes, and use the tension in the strings from you walking around to turn a generator.
Damn, that's actually a really cool idea with the backpack strings.
Thank you very much for your input, I've already seen a few of those links, but I missed some others. I'll add them to my resources list!
What are you using? If you're using piezoelectric pads as generators, it's not going to be efficient enough to be useful. It's been attempted many times, and I've worked with a group who had a very similar idea, but with using piezoelectric pads to power streetlights.
A dynamo would be much more efficient, but would also be incredibly bulky.
We've barely started researching... but yes, we were leaning towards piezoelectric pads. We were considering a dynamo, but like you said, it would be difficult to fit into a small area like a shoe...
Hi! I'm a student and would greatly appreciate it if you could fill out this survey for me for my Engineering Class. It will only take a minute, and it's on Google Forms, so it's not a scam or anything.
The survey is regarding a product we are prototyping for class. The idea is to have an insole for your shoe that will generate electricity as you walk. We hope to store that electricity in a battery which you can use to charge your phone or other mobile devices.
Interesting build! I like the detail and chosen blocks you used to make this build look so great! You're terraforming is also quite well for such quick work.

I totally forgot I posted this thread until today - so sorry for the late reply. Thank you for all the wonderful comments I have been really busy this past few weeks with school, but I have off next week, so hopefully I can build some more and work on the server...
Not too much to say here. I built this very quickly for the plot world on the server I co-run. I have a couple better builds on the Survival Server, but I'm too lazy to put up pictures of that. As you can see, this build features two small houses, a river, and a forest. Hope you enjoy, and please feel free to leave feedback.

Samerton and I have been working on a Survival Server. Featuring plugins like McMMO, factions, and llamagrapple, we have 'reinvented' the survival experience of Minecraft.
We have also reopened the Creative Server. I am still planning out that server, but I have some awesome ideas. In the mean time, it is open.

I will be creating a new thread soon to describe these two servers more in-depth.
Until then, Happy Minecrafting everyone, and thank you for viewing this thread! It means a lot to us!
Okay, so, I'm looking to light up a large area with 'invisible fire'. It'll be high up in the air, so players will not have to worry about accidentally walking into it and getting the fire effect. I've seen this used on another server as a lighting technique, and it's awesome because it lights up a huge area, and it looks nice! I just can't figure out how to do it. I'm guessing it's something with World Edit?
Thanks in advance.
Hey, just to let you know, your post is all messed up for me. Looks like you're using HTML, and I'm pretty sure that MCF doesn't support that, only BBcode, although I could be wrong.

Is this possible? Because it doesn't seem to be working for me... Thanks for any help.
