I'm a PvPer, and I can safely say that from the looks of this snapshot, 1.9 will be the nail in the coffin for skill-based PvP.

Probably. But aparently Mojang Skyped with some big server hosts and confirmed some servers to be OK.
Some servers should come out alive, one I know is Hypixel's. They are unaffected, luckily. -
Jun 14, 2014ElectrixMC posted a message on Mojang Announcement: EULA, and ServersSo charge everyone and lose all of your players, or ask insanely nice people to donate, but give them crap instead of anything useful? RIP all hosting websites, nobody will have enough money to pay. I see Mojang's logic, but I wonder how many servers are going to disappear because of this.Posted in: News

For example I'd rather die from a sudden unexpected drop rather than have Herobrine kill you or have unfindable traps.
But invis traps would make a good maze map. - To post a comment, please login.

I'm helping with an adventure map currently. Quick question: can /execute in a command block force players to execute commands even if they don't have access to that command? As in non-opped players or players playing singleplayer that simply don't have access to commands.
(Sorry for the nooby question, I'm just starting to reenter Minecraft and command blocks after a 6-month break)

There are two scenarios.
1) Try doing Ctr+Space without Minecraft. See if any other programs respond. If so, then they are picking up that command and stopping Minecraft from doing the same. To fix this, see which program responds.
2) This might be your keyboard ghosting. Normal HP keyboards do this sometimes. If you are pressing too many buttons at once, the newly-pressed keys won't register. Only hold down Ctrl + W + Space and see if it works. You may want to try another keyboard as well.
3) It may be some problem with that key. Try switching your sprint key to something like R or F and see if it works.

Tips:
Turn the sound down. Most games are a lot less scary with lower volumes. Once you are comfortable with the noises mobs make, slowly bring it up.
Don't play at night. Playing Minecraft in the middle of the night can be a little freaky. Play with natural light coming through a window.
Learn more about mobs. It helps to know your enemy. Recognize the mobs' boundaries and know how to kill them.
Use a higher FOV. If you can turn your field of vision to 90, 100, or Quake Pro, you will be better at sensing nearby mobs. It won't be a jump scare.
Have some music playing. Good music calms you. Don't use ingame music, as most of the tracks are a bit creepy.
Use the bow. It might be worth getting good with the bow, since attacking from a distance is usually slow-paced.
Use fire. Lava buckets or Flint and Steel really help with killing mobs. It shows them how they really are: weak and powerless over your might.

Run this command:
/execute (his in-game name) ~ ~ ~ /summon PrimedTnt ~ ~1 ~
Please realize that his Minecraft name must be put into the command, or you risk blowing yourself up!
If you want there to be a fuse length on the explosion, use:
/execute (his in-game name) ~ ~ ~ /summon PrimedTnt ~ ~1 ~ {Fuse:<amount of ticks>}
For the default length of a newly lit TNT, set the Fuse tag to 80.

I like Crisp PvP, Roxbot, and MCSG or Hive as non pay-2-play servers.

Doing /help [any command] will show you the arguments of that command.
In this command, x1, y1, and z1 are one corner of a rectangular prism. For example, the front of the prism's bottom left.
x2, y2, and z2 are the opposite corner: the back of the prism's top right, in some cases. You can switch these coordinates as you please, but remember that they will always have to be in opposite corners to make intended shapes.
To fill a place with block wool, you could do
/fill <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> minecraft:wool 15
minecraft:wool is the name of all colors of wool, while 15 is the data value of black only. Using "minecraft:wool 11" would give blue wool, for example. The only time a block's data tag will be different from others is for a change of texture or a change of redstone signal.

I think the aim of the trapped chest minecart is to have a mobile lever, even when there are no activator or detector rails. Maybe activator rails lock the chest?
