you can still connect to some servers if you have the IP and port

    use
    http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=80 ... rride=true
Format (that server is down right now)

That happens when the server is unresponsive.

In otherword all the server links on that page are currently wrong/unresponsive.
The owner of the server needs to tell you their IP address and port in order for you to conect

The URL you need to use should look like this:

    http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=80 ... rride=true

note this server is NOT up so dont cry when you cant connect, its simply an example of what the URL should look like.

posted a message on Is minecraft a safe download?
    Quote from Tochie44 »
I was questioning the safety of downloading minecraft because of a few reasons:

    1. You have to pay in euros. I don't quite understand why that is but my worry is that most of the companies that steel your credit card number are foreign.

hahaha oh wow. Euros are the currency of Europe, which includes Sweeden, which is where Notch (primary developer and now the home of his company Mojang is)

    2. I can't find any sort of company that is associated with minecraft. If I could find a company, I would trust the download a lot more.

Mojang is the company have you seen notchblog or the "copyright mojang" on each page?

Besides this isnt some corporate game made by a huge number of developers, its an indie game made by a single person, atleast untill a short while ago when Notch started using his company alot more.

    Try that solution then.

If that also fails then i cant think of anything else, server migration should not be affecting updating :/

How do you even make that association? i can think of 3 games (each of the mmo's) that allow you to have a different account name and character name.

Probably 99% of games out there, including every game for a console of this generation, Account name = account name.

Oh well, you got two options, ask notch for a refund and buy a new account, or, ask notch to change your name.

www.canyouseeme.org, test on the port you are using (just to double check nothing has changed)

Also if you specified a different port to default when you first made the server and did the portforwarding then you will need to change that in the updated server since it will revert to default

posted a message on my server wont work! (please help)
    From the top.

Firstly when creating a server you must portforward the port you wish to run the server on, by default this is 25565.

To see if 25565 is open, go to www.canyouseeme.org and type 25565 into the port box and test that. If it returns the result "i cannot see you on 25565" then you need to portforward, the largest (and somewhat ugliest) collection of guides is www.portforward.com this will tell you everything you need to know in order to portforward. You will need to know your Modem routers Make and Model though.

Once you have portforwarded try www.canyouseeme.org again. If it says it can see you Then you have portforwarded correctly

if you get "connection refused" then you need to open your firewall settings and allow connections on 25565 and add minecraft_server.exe as a exception. (failing this you can always disable the firewall completely but that is not recommended)

Once the firewall is set, www.canyouseeme.org once more, with style. if it says "i can see you" then you are all good to go grab your external IP from there and give it to your friends, open minecraft server.exe and then tell them to connect.

    voila, done.

Strange, that usually means that the port forwarding hasnt gone as planned.

And yeah, that code to connect is all good.

Test your port on www.canyouseeme.org (just in case)

Make sure your friends are trying 999.999.999.999:25565 not just your IP ":25565" or whatever port you have selected to use can sometimes solve alot of connection errors.

check how you can put credit on a paypal account. Perhaps you can do that via sms.

Alternatively go to your postshop or bank and get a prezzie card or temporary credit card, whatever you call them over there. Essentially its a credit card you load with money, you simply have to top up the ammount you want onto it and bam ready to buy some minecrafts.

I havent actually seen this before.

Try re-downloading minecraft.exe if that doesnt work try the alternate version.

if neither works try using both in half an hour or so.

if that doesnt work again then im not sure, other option is to copy the files from a friend.
