posted a message on Using a xbox controller for pc - downloaded xpadder - not working
    Thank you for the tips.

The reason why I would want to use a controller is - cheaper to replace a broken controller than the keyboard on a new laptop that my son is repeatedly using same keys over and over...plus when in PVP he goes nuts banging on it. :DPA:
Windows 8 also sucks as if you brush the keypad - all of a sudden you dont even see your game, you are onto something else (it came installed, new laptop).

posted a message on Kicking Kids Out of Multi-player = Bullying
Oh wow - too many pages - back n forth.
Many sides on this - I myself play Minecraft and my now 13 year old got me started.
I have seen it all - the traps/griefing/kicking.....he plays with kids from school and for the most part there are no problems. One day I will see someone kill him/ or destroy what he built and he "bans" hi and then next week they are playing again.
Two of his friends I have selected to allow into my worlds - invite only is the best way.
If you allow friends of friends it leaves the door wide open.
Friends from school can be a good choice - however, as relationships can get heated on Xbox, it can carry over into school so please have him choose wisely.
Now that my son has PC Minecraft, he rarely plays with me .....Im fine with solo or one of his friends that I now trust.
If you would want him to request me or my son as a friend, pm me - we wont kick him and he can build from there.
    Good luck!

Re Deadmau5 - I've posted an addition on my original response. Hope it helps.

I think then it's meaning for you to buy the additional DLC and/or reload the DLC using Dylan's copy where the license was transfered in order to use whatever skin you were using on Dylan's XBox (which would still be saved in your Minecraft saveinfo.file, which is the same file that keeps your closing inventory when you leave any of your worlds.

(PS: We also had some "fun" when we transferred licences to a new console. I use the new one with an offline only profile and his copy of the game. He still has a copy of the game on the old XBox, but I can't play on that one unless he's signed in as Player 1 and my offline profile is actually different on that XBox so I can't access any of my offline games there. It works for us. I wish I knew better what it was he did. We didn't have to buy another copy of the game.

I can do without the skinpacks - should I ignore the corrupt thing or re-install?

Yes we have skinpacks from Dylan's copy of the game.

It is asking me to re-install content - does not say delete or mention the game itself - just "content".

I had tried a few other seeds - a couple random and some suggested w/blaze spawners and found nether fortresses hard to find and then wehn I did , the same thing happened with the spawner not working when re-starting game. I was very careful not to mine any blocks around the fenced areas as I saw some videos showing blaze spawners in those areas. deadmau5 hasnt been the glitchy world (yet) - it was other worlds. I made a new deadmau5 after the last update - the top part of the world was not as great as the original, but after making a portal - I was able to see fortress in the nether and made it easy to make a rail system to get to. Plus found a the mineshaft pretty early - no stronghold yet.
If I save my games to cloud and re-install "content" will my games be saced from bieng deleted?
    Thanks for your help :)

posted a message on Using a xbox controller for pc - downloaded xpadder - not working
Sorry if this has been hashed over - but I purchased a Microsoft Xbox/PC controller so we could use it for Minecraft. It was added and says working properly (Windows 8) without a cd - however nothing happens when in Minecraft.
There are no other games on the PC other than Simm City.
I downloaded Xpadder and still nothing.
Cannot activate Minecrontrol through Java - we get an error.
Is Minecraft for pc just not going to work with an Xbox controller - even though t is a Microsoft wired controller?
    Thanks,

My son had Mincraft on his Xbox originally and I joined Xbox live using same console.
We got a new Xbox slim console (same version) and tranferred all games and licenses.
I was able to view my Minecraft games on the Xbox, but not open. Being impatient - I just ordered another copy of Minecraft for $20.00 and then I was able to open "my" worlds.
Now everytime I go into Mincraft - I get a message saying that it is corrupt and I need to re-install??
If I do this, will I loose all my worlds?
I have games saved to hard drive and also cloud.
I am able to play - but noticed certin areas on some worlds are totally glitched out - should I re-install the content?

Also - on seed deadmau5 - the nther fortress was spawning blazes at first ( created in survival - host privileges/invisable) but since have not generated any blazes no matter what mode the world is started in. At least I grabbed some blazes the first time or Id be w/o any brewing! Are they fixing this - or will I need a new world?
    Thanks,

Windows 8 isn't good for running Minecraft. I should know, I use windows 8 myself and it can be a bit dodgy sometimes. It runs fine, but sometimes it will blue screen. Any other game I play is fine and all my drivers are updated.

If you download the Magic Launcher for Minecraft you can allocate more memory to Minecraft. Search for it in Google and find a tutorial. (Magic Launcher also allows easy installation of mods).

No blue screen (yet).... only other game now installed is Sim City4.
Thank you, will try the magic Launcher when I get home - it's my son's pc. His 1st pc and my first taste of Windows 8 - making the laptop a tempting frizzbee ;)

Maybe one of your sticks of ram isnt working properly.

How would we check that - its new laptop and new memory installed by Bestbuy Geek?
It sure boots up quicker and when just using explorer it cut down the using memory resourses from 42%-47% to 26% average.
Windows 8 makes it frustrating (to be kind).

It means it ran out of Ram, you'll need to allocate more Ram to Minecraft to stop that error.

We upgraded to 8gb RAM - will the pc automatically allocate more memory to Minecraft and other applications or do we have to assign that?
Had another "not enough memory" crash...don't know if it's the pc or if the multi player server is just so LARGE - perhaps they have a "real gaming" pc?

Thank you regarding the RAM - will look into removing bloatware and upgrade if needed to 8gb. What about the mouse and mining blocks that switches my screen back to ingame menu?

when mining, eating,or drinking potions when I hold down the mouse, the in game menu pops up. it is really frustrating and I cant play on survival because of this. also randomly the game will shut down and say not anough memory when I have 400 GB left over still on my laptop.

LAN = Local area network, so if your friends are at your house or vise versa and you got 2 computers that both have minecraft, one can open up LAN and you can join that.

But if you want to play on other servers you will need the IP address to connect to them

Thank you - this helped me understand.
I was able to look up a server on Google and got on a game in multiplayer.
Do you know how to disable the running chat messages?
I am looking for other servers for multi player - is there a forum for this?
