if by a "handful of practical uses" you mean five, then I guess we're settled. I don't think any new block needs more than five practical uses to be a good idea.
But it's ridiculous downsides overcome such practical uses, people clearing out the interior of mountains will be extremely annoyed by the pistonium laying around forcing them to bring pistons all the time? No one will like that, another thing is that griefing protection is up to the servers. Mojang shouldn't fiddle with something that started in the community, we don't need anti-troll blocks, or anti-abuse blocks. It will also break PvP (which is already broken enough) a nearly indestructible block that can only be pushed by pistons? Such a block should be left to Obsidian.
First off, I get straight to the point. This suggestion is horrible.
Got that? good, now let's see why.
I like to blow things up. I really do. Don't get me wrong, tnt works great, but it seems like at a certain point, the amount of tnt im using isn't doing as much of a good destroy:use ratio as just one block of tnt.
You like to blow things up, not everyone. If a suggestion is added it would affect the entire community, now everyone has different opinions and those opinions conflict with each other. This is one of those cases, You like to blow things up, You have a destructive behavior. Unless you have 1 million clones all playing Minecraft not everyone will agree to your proposal. Opinions are opinions, keep your destructive lust to yourself.
I think that something really powerful should be added. Like a nuclear weapon. It could be crafted using Redstone and obsidian, or they could ad a new ore like uranium or something, and use that instead of Redstone. It would be activated by a Redstone current. It would do something like destroying any block within a 100 block radius, the exception being bedrock.
Vague? What is so vague about it? And like I said above several times, a simple command could be used to disable them. And who cares about the tech level? Isn't Redstone basically electricity? I'm pretty sure that people weren't still using bows and arrows when we had electricity.
Contradictory quote, meet contradictory quote.
You suggestion is vague, learn to accept that fact. You repeatedly use phrases like I think or something like, meaning your unsure of your own suggestion that in term is vague.
Another thing I would like to add is that it doesn't meet the technology levelof Minecraft, Redstone is not electricity. It's a form of kinetic energy. Besides that being able to disable it doesn't magically make your suggestion viable, and it's destructive power would destroy servers and cause performance issues.
EDIT
Regarding my last sentence, don't give me the "but it's Minecraft!" or "It's a sandbox game! you can add anything!" crap.
Your ignorance of how annoying a thirst bar would be in the game is disturbing, and the list of posters sarcastically posting isn't helping either as none of them explained why a thirst bar wouldn't fit in the game.
When the hunger system was added, people were expecting improvements because [pre-1.8 beta] all kinds of food were health potions. The hunger system would spice up survival [specifically combat] as it would encourage players to find cover and regenerate their health, today people hate the hunger system because it's tedious. Your life depended on whether or not your hunger bar was full because it would drain your health, therefore it forced players to always bring food around and manage it. This is tedious, no one wants to die just because they forgot to eat a steak or something [because being unable to sprint or regenerate your health is penalty enough]. Now how is this relevant?
The thirst bar would add no point in the game, it wouldn't spice up anything or bring new purpose or challenge. Because most of it's duties are already taken up by the hunger bar, and even more it's tedious or boring to manage. A hunger bar is enough, no need to have another crappy bar fill up the screen.
Also having a reasons like "We have a hunger bar, why not a thirst bar? is awful, it doesn't justify anything, and more often you should be reminded your are playing a game where you punch trees and can stuff 64 large blocks in your pocket. This isn't Survival simulator 9000.
One look at this suggestion and it's already game-breaking, it's a awful combination of a slow potion plus the ability to deny any target actual movement. 5 seconds is long enough for anyone to land powerful decent hits on any target.
Possibly they would generate in clusters, in order to make the Nether more hazardous and encourage caution.
Otherwise I'm on the fence with this suggestion.
*Insert cry baby noises here*
No seriously, if you are to suggest something it's open to ALL forms of criticism. From trolling, to constructive, to simply downright stupid. Posting it here in the Internet is like walking to a very very large group of people and talking about something.
Seems that you can't handle criticism, then why did you suggest?
More often, why speculate now? 1.7 isn't even out yet and we're already guessing what comes out in the next update after that?
Great, now I can spam fully charged arrows that deal damage that of a diamond sword! huzzah! Please as if enchantments are not overpowered enough already.
1. heaps of People like Sky, e.g. the 5,000,000 who have subscribed to him!
2. This isent a demension based on a Sky, it was an actual dimension what had nothing to do with Sky, So Click the link and read it before leaving hate.
As of 2013, there are 7,171,767,001 people in the world and counting. 5,000,000 is a mere atom of that, and the majority of such subscribers are children. Unable to detect the mediocre videos you call "commentary"
