posted a message on Thaumcraft 6.1.BETA26 [no longer being developed]

hey peoples! If you mess around with the homing shards focus in 5.1.1 you get crashed to desktop everytime one of those things renders. here's the crash log:

    I'm running version 11.15.0.1694 of forge 1.8.9.

Running thaumcraft ONLY, it doesn't matter if the source is you or a autocaster, if the projectile renders, it CTD's.

Hi there, i found a bug regarding psychedelicraft and the 3d shaders it uses. I don't know if anyone already said something about this, i'll just assume no one didn't...

This is going on 1.7.10 on the latest versions of the mod, including the nightly releases.

Well, you know the end portal? The texture it uses with the cool depth effects and all?

It's made from the end dimension background texture tweaked with some additional visual effects if my info is right.

Anyway, when psychedelicraft is installed and the option to enable shaders (i assumed it refered to the 3D ones) is on it makes all textures that are or work like the ender portal's go missing, it's just a plain texture that changes flickers and changes color if you're under the effect of some drug like harmonium.

I've tried changing some of the display settings in the config file, but turning shaders off really is the only thing that fixes it.

I've last tried it with the 1.5.2n118 version of the mod and it's still doing it.

Please help! I need my weeds in high definition and full content man! :D

don't know if this has been brought up already but the recipes configs are completely broken, for some reason, they got bugged out on one of my worlds, and no matter what i do (get them again from another world for example) i can't get them back working.

I am using Customnpcs in conjunction with other mods.

Some recipes have items replaced by other items (no i don't think an halberd has pea seeds as its blade), Some are completely blank, with nothing as a resulting item (only in the recipes list in the actual crafting station, in the config
screen they appear as just the recipe but with nothing as result), others do have a resulting item.

    Thing is.

I don't think some blocks of stone and 3 sticks equal a thaumcraft focus of warding (it requires a nether star to make).

Nor should a diamond glaive give me a Pam'sHarvestCraft Honeycomb.

It seems to me that all resulting items (the ones that are still there) are mod items, not a single vanilla item, don't know if this is just a coincidence though.

Names are still in the recipes's config screen.

I am using minecraft 1.7.10 and running a modpack of my own with about 87 mods (including submods and cores). I'm also using the latest version of customnpcs for that release of minecraft (i believe that's 1.7.10d).

Psychedelicraft, those are rifts, anomalies in time and space (capture them by making rift jars placing them next to the rift and right clicking on the jars, be carefull though, jars can't hold more than a given ammount of rifts, if you get greedy and don't do more jars you can have "unexpected" consequences).

I SUPPORT SHADERS IN MODS! In all due fairness, there should be more mods using them, they can have quite the impact.

    Edit:

This thread moves too fast for me XD

    regarding hungry node capture:

-make node capture jars work with warded glass, right click on oak slabs to make jar happen instead of glass.

    -All problems solved.

the day the inventarium system allows me to sort and request items like logistics pipes is the day i'm quitting buildcraft for good. Magical sorting would be just the thing to top this addon... Wait, as a matter of fact, just requesting items is good enough for me, connect it to a crafting grid, make it request what recipes require, make it cost essentia per use, i don't care if i have to work for it, whatever the cost it would be worth it. XD

Well, i am sorry, to have repeat one of the questions/ I just installed fading node to the advanced node stabilizer, and nothing happens nearly 4 hours of RL. should i do something else, or just keep calm and wait for profit? )

I don't know if it only works with "pale" nodes, fading may be a bit too much for stabilizers... i'd need confirmation on this tough...

I can't seem to find where the textures for the rusty hatch border are, i don't know if they're hardcoded or something of a sort, i was hoping the mod author could clear this one up for me. :)

    Thanks in advance

Some nice suggestions for research minigames there :) The problem is the amount of work that will take. Still something to keep in mind though.

I've been trying to think of a way to remove scanning and keep the current minigame. What about this: You have access to a fixed number of primals for each research note when it is created and it is up to you to combine and use them to solve that puzzle. The research expertise stuff lets you start with a bigger pool and/or reclaim stuff you placed or made by mistake. Some primals left over could even go into pool as a bonus for your next research to reward those that solve puzzles efficiently. If you screwed up you need to toss the note and try again.

Those minigames could use some examples, i just gotta point out these because, to be honest, i love them and they are already a result of the work of people that have experience making these kinds of minigames:

    Alchemy:

The mixing potions puzzle on Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince (Mysterious Prince, whatever the designation), in my opinion, most fun i got out of a minigame concerning this..

    Video Example:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

My idea was a potions stand, a thaumic centrifuge (not the one that already exists), and of course a small pot for the mix, the player would draw from it's research points to make reagents, just selecting the aspects needed for one research and assign them to the vials (), then the vials could be switched between the centrifuge (which be the way could work a bit like a hand crank mechanism) and the stand, heating could be done through item interaction (maybe some portable bellows?), shaking is, well, obvious. And stirring the contents could be the same as heating but with a ladle.

The research for this could start off by using only some mechanisms, so some apparatuses would only be necessary in more advanced states of research, you would be given a recipe as a research sheet ( a formula you think would produce interesting results) with what aspects you would need research points of and in what quantity, the mixing pot would work like seen in the video, with some NBT data, it would be possible to make it... (i'm being a bit cheeky now :P)

With every color change a research point could be spent (or maybe with every step in the recipe, not sure about that one, if done correctly it should spend no more no less research points than what it said in the recipe), research expertise would grant the chance for points not to be spent, and the recipe steps showing in the notification corner when the current step has been completed.

This one's probably the most complex...

    Thaumaturgy or Basic Information:

No video example for this one, i was thinking more like a "Find the words" kinda puzzle, where you just have a bunch of runes in a grid-like pattern and you have to find certain sequences hidden across the mumble jumble of runes..

    Example Puzzle:

Each attempt at underlining runes takes research points, so recklessness would be the judge of whoever gives a go at this puzzle.

Research expertise can maybe make stand out all of the same type of rune for a moment through use of research points? Also, good ol' "every now and then no research points spent".

    Eldritch:
Based on the perspective image puzzles by some point and click type games amongst others, they are definetly confusing at start, and the jumble of image parts, while not to difficult to create, will seem strange when not organised:

    Video Example:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

A study with a strange out of perspective image popping out, shaders making the player see things in a more "eldritchy" manner , various parts missing, several image parts next to the big image, which ones are the appropriate ones?, Choose some and pay the research point price, move them until they make sense in the picture, or choose others if these don't.

Research expertise? Maybe some images turn red if not facing the right angle? or making the ocasional puzzle piece free of charge for those days where research points just evaporate into thin air (a bit thick due to warp..).

    On a side note:

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a rotation puzzle in Assassin's Creed, since i can think of atleast some other puzzles in those game series that could be described as "rotation" puzzles...

I helped creating this discussion, might aswell help ending it...

Core changes don't stack, you don't need to install Linux on your Mac to change to Windows, you just need to install Windows (or just use bootcamp, you can have the best of two worlds).

A version skip would just mean a clean rewrite as much as a version update, we're talking about core changes, it doesn't matter if you have to change 5 or 50 things, since you'll be writting the code all over again due to base mechanics being altered (otherwise how the hell would mods be made in the first place, they don't need to work with every version of the game released in the past), we ain't dealing with stone brick piles over here...

However it does matter if you're rewritting this for every version being released, it's the difference between having to redo all you've done thus far 1 or 3 times.
