Yes, you have to. Although you could just go to the stronghold and find ender pearls there; sometimes there will already be a few ender pearls in the slots, then there could be others in chests throughout the stronghold.
Thanks, cant believe I didn't think of trying either of these
It says i need to fill every slot of the stronghold end portal with an ender pearl in order to activate it. Is this for real? There are like 12 slots do i really have to go out kill endermen untill they drop 12 eyes?
I must be missing something because this seems dumb. I wander around all night and find anywhere from 0 to 3 enderman on a lucky night. And im lucky if half of them actually drop the eye.
They dont hide, they just dont seem to spawn much. Its not a challenge to find them, its just long random searching. They are easy to kill. I play on hardcore mode and i just make a ceiling 3 squares high so that the enderman can't hit me; he just stands next to the platform and lets me hit him until he dies or teleports away (which also sucks). Its just tedious more grinding trying to kill them.
The game moved so fast until now: I spent one day gathering wood and food, two days or so searching caves for iron and coal, made a mine shaft for the diamonds and luckilly found them right away. The nether was a b**** but at least it was challenging, and i got the blaze rods i need.
So now why do i have to spend forever looking for these stupid enderman? In a night i will kill like 10 zombies, skeletons, spiders, some creepers, but see maybe 2 enderman. Some nights i go around the entire map and find none. Its gonna take me 12 nights to get all the pearls i need if i only average one per night.
And during the days i just have to kill time because i have all the materials i need and there is nothing i have to do other than get enderpearls; its too bad you can't use the bed for the night shift.
So is this really how minecraft intended for us to activate the end portal? I feel like i must be doing something wrong. Is there another way to open the portal? Is there another way to get ender pearls besides hunting them all down? Is there a certain place where the enderman like to gather that i just for some reason walk past every night? Is there a better way to find them than just sprinting around the map aimlessly?
Any tips would be appreciated. Would love to hear how everybody else handles this portion of the game. I just want to beat it i dont want to spend all day building random things and cave searching is really boring.
ryan if i have to scroll the webpage to see the details of your server then its not a no bs server sorry but dont waste my time advertising something that i am clearly not going to be interested in
plus you dont even give out the ip so i cand get there if i wanted to
i dont know if this is the best place to talk about this but im really not too concerned about it i just want to say something.
the search engine on the minecraft wiki site is pretty bad. lets say i want to figure out how to make different potions. so ill search "potion brewing", makes sence right? http://www.minecraftwiki.net/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=potion+brewing
and the first five results are:
1. creative (page on creative mode i guess)
what the ? what does creative mode have to do with potion brewing?
2. enderman (page about the monster)
again, WTF? endermans dont even drop anything usefull for potions i dont even understand how potion or brewiing would appear on that page
3. minecraft (page about the game in general)
ok, well brewing is included in the game so i at least somewhat undestand this result. but it is absoulty not helpfull.
4. version history
ok so i guess the date when brewing was introduced would be on this page. at least from here i could MAYBE find a link to an actually usefull page. still this should be more like result 20
5.food
ok well potions are kind of like food. its close but no cigar, not helpfull at all.
ok so my response to those results is WTF? Basically the search gave me a bunch of random pages with the words potion and brewing in them. The potion page does not apper anywhere in the first 20 results. The brewing page does not appear anywhere in the first 20 results. none of the pages for any of the different potions appear in the first 20 results. brewing stand page? no. glass vial page? no. neatherwart page? no.
even if i begin my search with the exact name of the page i am looking for, i stil get nonsence results. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=advanced&search=brewing&fulltext=Search&ns0=1&redirs=1&profile=advanced
1. brewing stand, but in a different language (LOL WHAT?)
2. brewing stand, in english this time at least
3. brewing stand, duplicate. its close to what i want but it directs to the same exact place as the result above it so thats stupid
4. brewing, ok this is what i want but its also in a different language (LOL WTF)
5. bring stand, also in a differnt language and appears to be the same exact link as the first result (DOUBLE WTF)
basically an epic fail and a disgrace to programers everywhere. searching is one of the most basic and fundamental functions that computers can preform. And it is sad that, for a game were the online wiki is so significant because it is the only way to figure out all of the crafting recipies without spending hours with trail and error, the search feature on the wiki is so pathetic.
should this be addressed at some point? yes, its probably not a priority but it cant be that hard to make a search feature that actually searches and does not just randomly list pages with your words in it

no one else likes survival pvp servers?

Looking for a public survival pvp server. The closer to vanilla the better, the less rules the better, if something like that exists.
