Ok, I was just exploring a new game when I saw this monstrosity:

A skeleton riding a spider? Is this a glitch? A new feature? An old feature I've never heard of? Whatever it is, Notch help us all if this starts to catch on with the rest of the skeletons.

    But seriously, WHAT?

Slavery is when you force someone to work against their will, if you are giving them food they are volunteering to help with is not slavery in the first place. But like I said before, I don't think that they would sacrifice themselves for you if you gave them a few peaces of food, I think that they could add a friendship bar or something them makes them want to do more for you.

Read the first post much? Or the title?

i think that if we implement gnolls (i like this idea alot), then they should come in various colors. some brown, some tan, some maybe even reddish. this would prevent one "race" of gnolls from existing ingame, thus prevents any form of racism.

i think the colors of gnolls should stay consistent in a tribe. so one tribe would have only brown gnolls; another would have red ones, and so on...

also, i like the idea that the gnolls would be near-hostile by nature. if they see you, they wont attack; but if you attack one of them or you hold a sword (or any weapon), then they will become aggressive and attack.

This isn't about racism, yet again this is about the fact of slavery. Hypothetical slavery, yes, but still allows for the psychological participation which is still ****ing taboo.

Just because you allow someone the option to not be a slaveowner, doesn't mean it isn't promoting slavery. I'm not sugar coating anything, you say something in Mincraft it raises the awareness to the subject but people are being taught about it in school, all adding slavery does is allow kids the opportunity to actively participate in a questionable activitiy.

Another thing you argued about was that they aren't people, they are AI. This argument is ridiculous. The AI represent things in real life or hypothetical beings like goblins and such that could be smart enough to have freewill.

The problem with this isn't the activity or the fact that the kids aren't actually enslaving anything real, but that the idea of slavery and their psychological participation in their acts which are dehumanizing.

I'm glad someone can make a few valid points but this is still a horrible pit trap of idiocy.

About the whole, well there are worse things out there argument, two wrongs don't make a right, just because one thing is worse than another or a more pressing subject doesn't mean that the other should walk away without coming under scrutiny as well.

by doing it as Nebb, Scooter, and i agreed on, it actually puts slavery in a bad light. it's morally wrong, yes, so you are penalized for it. we are not supporting slavery, nor do we want it to ever be shown as a good thing. we just want to give people the choice to enslave and be penalized, or befriend and reap the greatest rewards.

it would not make MineCraft this horrible monster just because it's implemented. if we clearly show that befriending is far better than slavery, then we have sidestepped a political and ethical debate with the media.

I'm not questioning if you guys support slavery, but the game is supporting slavery even if you get a penalty. The game allows you to enslave people, thus it supports slavery, if you are given the option then obviously the game supports it. We don't want to play a game that supports slavery now do we? Even if you don't think that counts, that doesn't mean everyone else won't or the media won't. Do you know this is supposed to be a family friendly game? How do you explain to the parents that their 4 year old is enslaving things and becoming a little tyrant?

Guys, if you don't want a skin from him and you think he is a ridiculous troll, THEN WHY ARE YOU FEEDING HIM? If you people are so sure he is such a horrible person, why are you perpetuating this thread? Please use logic and thought before you act.

Hotels, I would like to clarify I am not giving any opinion on you. At this point in time I remain neutral.

Notch is working on giants, but I like being able to build something and have it say up and alive.

It's not like that would be the death sentence to structures, but it would make it so you actually have to defend your base instead of just sitting around slowly amassing large piles of iron/steel and gold. I would really like the idea of a more intrusive mob.

yes, why not make traps more powerful? there has to be SOME sort of challenge in the game. and plus, what kind of medieval castle has wireless transmitters and recievers? unless it takes time for the signal to activate, then maybe.
Traps are at the moment, quite easy actually. All you have to do is dig around the trap or just cut the redstone wiring away. This solves the problem of destroying the redstone wiring, but not the digging around the trap which makes it still ridiculously easy.

Zoythrus Just explained my point adain to dummy. Thanks zoy.

no problem! i just want people to know that slavery of the natives is only a means to an end. you dont "have" to do it, if anything, you want to stay away from it. how hard is that to understand?

Just because you have the moral choice does not mean that the mere possibility of slavery is a ****ing pitfall politically and morally, you guys really don't seem to care about the implications this type of suggestion would impose.

bet notch didn't even read any of this thread.

I bet Notch is not interested even in bows reskinned as arquetaxi's.

It's called an Arquebus, and if he's not interested oh well, it's his game! Plus not having an Arquebus doesn't make it any less fun, it would've been a welcomed addition for me to make ranged combat much more interesting, but oh well. Maybe he'll add a crossbow some people like those.

Don't get why people oppose a gun and not crossbows. Crossbows add even less variety, all they are is a more powerful, slow bow. A gun like your suggesting would add a lot more tactics and resource dynamics.

So, we're duplicating all the blocks and eating most of the remaining spare block space just to prevent diamond farming? Wouldn't it be better just for them to not drop the block over all?

Yeah, I suggested instead of dropping the disguised block it drops a shell that you can use to create a helmet.

Jacos suggested it drop camo shells which can be crafted into camo armor.

EDIT: Read through the thread before commenting on something people have already discussed. Add something constructive instead of asking a question that does not need to be asked.

If someone creates a trapdoor in one room and places a pressure plate in another room and connects them using your wireless transmitter then someone who runs into your trapdoor will not be able to go back and find the mechanism that activated the trapdoor and therefore it will cause a huge disadvantage to the player. Thats why I am against anything wireless in minecraft because you can not track where these wireless devices are originating.

I really don't see your logic, if someone steps on the pressure plate, nothing would happen to them since the trapdoor is in the other room as you said.... I really don't see why you have a problem with this...

How about, to make sure you can't farm diamonds, the bug drops a camo shell, which can be made into camo armour?

How would that work? Would it just make you invisible? If so, then no. We really don't need people running around being invisible and shooting bows at people in plain sight without being caught.
