Jan 8, 2015DukeTidierLeader2 posted a message on Name Changes Coming Soon? Why not just have "display" names, and REAL names are permanently kept into the servers? Code, plugins, servers, and clients would refer to players by the "real" names (the original names), and whenever connected to a Mojang database, only the "display" names would show up in-game.Posted in: News

Sep 10, 2014DukeTidierLeader2 posted a message on Microsoft Buying Minecraft?I'm not gonna judge the situation - or Mojang, or Microsoft - before I actually see how this will benefit or backlash. Microsoft isn't a bad company, though I don't know how this will turn out. Let's just wait and see...Posted in: News
...and for the love of god, I'd love not to hear about people leaving just because Mojang is owned by Microsoft.
On the other hand, that's FAR too much money that Mojang will ever need (talking about all of Microsoft's financial support, not just that from this deal). Sure, money will come in handy if they need to use other game engines and they need to purchase licenses, tools, etc. But if that's not the case, then this deal simply makes no sense. -

I honestly, TRULY doubt that popular and "good" servers didn't do wrong. If what you said here was the case, Mojang wouldn't have clarified the EULA.
Quote from Bjossi
And what statistical data is behind this claim? I'll take a wild guess and say you pulled it from thin air. The same goes for pretty much everyone else, we have 'no' idea how this will impact the community in the long run, if it will have any impact at all. All these outcries of doomsday are no less hysterical than the weekly end of the worlds. And if the community ends up suffering casualties it will most likely be at its own hands, by people who chicken out and pack up their bags without even trying to adapt.
I just want Mojang to finish all the paperwork and get 1.7.10 out already so we can stop speculating & running in circles and start adapting (or giving up, whichever you prefer).
This. We haven't yet seen the true effect of the EULA. -

. . Another thing is, Players who already have a rank, should be able to keep it. I've spent over 200$ on ranks. . .
Players will be able to keep the ranks, if I read it right. But if you ACTUALLY spent over $200 for ranks on servers of which you don't know are reliable or not, then you've got a serious problem here. -
Jun 16, 2014DukeTidierLeader2 posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangI'm just sitting here, sipping my Coke, laughing at everybody who think this EULA update will automatically mean the end of Minecraft.Posted in: News
Are you guys wizards? Did this change happen months ago? Is the population of players of Minecraft all of a sudden decreased by 75%? If your answers to all of these questions are no, then you're judging the situation far too early. Although, in my opinion, most servers sucked because of the infamous pay-to-win system, none of us know if this will be for the better or for the worse. All we can do is wait. -

"You are allowed to charge players to access your server."
I instantly started breaking everything in my house.
Why!? Mojang, NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I SEEN A GAME COMPANY DO THIS KIND OF STUFF, WHAT IS YOUR GUYS PROBLEM!?!?!
Seriously, that is so much BS, I'm betting my hand on a knife that this will make all servers a P2P kinda thing, SO BASICALLY, IT'S OFFLINE MINECRAFT FOR ME ALL OVER AGAIN, NO ONLINE, NOWHERE TO PLAY ONLINE WITH FRIENDS!!!
I understand, it's to help the community, BUT...THAT DOESN'T HELP THE ONES WHO DON'T HOST SERVERS!
And sure, some servers might take the nice way and just take donations BUT...WHO IN THE SANEST MIND WOULD DO THAT IF YOU COULD JUST CHARGE THE ENTRANCE?!?!
So yeah, Mojang, you did a bad move IMO, and that will hurt your reputation.
You're implying that this was never happening BEFORE the EULA changed, which is BS. -

I'm pretty calm sir, read my last post: I await my C&D. If I don't get any, its all just hoax. Thus, I continue to run the server as I please and see fit. FYI, minecraft server client is still the exact same size, last date of modification. Not violating any rules.
It doesn't matter whether their rules satisfy your or not. You bought the game made by them. They sold it to you. It's their work. If you had at least so much as a minor part in the creation of the game, then maybe you could charge for items, but you can't walk right up to them and tell them how to run their game. -
Jun 12, 2014DukeTidierLeader2 posted a message on Mojang Announcement: EULA, and ServersPosted in: NewsQuote from Marcus101RR
Fact is, servers will continue to use ranks, kits, mods, plugins, to charge players to keep themselves alive, is it unfair? Maybe, is it wrong? maybe, is it unethical maybe? You are forgetting one thing, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY ON THAT SERVER. You are still in control of FREE WILL, "Choice". To choose or not to choose to play...
Except the issue is that most people that play on these servers abide with the pay-to-win systems to the point where they start paying with their moms' credit cards. Tell me now, do you seriously think that Mojang allowing people to PAY TO ENTER a server isn't enough?
If the server hosts REALLY needed the money, then they could have a pay-to-enter system, or a donation system that gives them aesthetics, which would be sufficient to pay the rent if the server is popular. Blocking off players from using specific items and entities is merely a method of whoring money. -

I wish we could get information in proper written format instead of videos.
Agreed. I'm tired of videos for "news".
The EULA never changed, Mojang just made it more obvious that you shouldn't make money with their work by forcing people to pay to use items, or by distributing their files with AdFly or things of the sort. Donations to keeping servers up and donations/AdFly links for modifications to the game are, in theory, still acceptable. But as the community has demonstrated, they did a terrible mistake by assuming good faith.
EDIT: "You can charge for hosting servers, but not for gameplay features." https://twitter.com/...869769301409792
EDIT2: "We get a LOT of support errands from parents of kids that bought items for hundreds of dollars, wanting their money back."

Apr 7, 2014DukeTidierLeader2 posted a message on Minecraft No Longer Officially Working With Oculus RiftOkay, I looked into it a little bit more, and I think I have a better say in this than before.Posted in: News
For one, Oculus VR should still be operating independently, according to somebody who works at the company.
Two, money doesn't fall out of the sky, and progress would have probably taken longer, considering the company has to manufacture many models and do more research into this. Clearly, Facebook has a lot more money, and it can hopefully come out cheaper, better and sooner.
Three, they didn't even release a post-acquired version of the Rift. A little bit too quick to judge, don't you think?
And four, what many people were saying about ads always popping up in the middle of a game, it not being used for actual gaming, Facebook having plans to use this to track info of people, etc. is:
A: Said by people who are using Facebook, the bigger place between it and the Rift to have these "threats", (Notch, in my opinion, was the only one who was legitimate, since he probably wasn't using Facebook to begin with) and
B: Very likely not gonna be done, you think a company would be this stupid to waste money to make a product nobody would want?
Not a Facebook or Oculus VR fanboy, but lighten up, guys; yes, this might be worse, but on the other hand, it might be better. We don't know, we'll just have to wait until the consumer version is released. Thing is, though, that we can't make a final opinion before we've seen the real deal, considering they didn't even ship the second developer kit. - To post a comment, please login.

They're to indicate faction territory. It's measured in chunks (16x16), so if there's a + two chunks above the center, then it means that a certain faction inhabits that chunk.

So, the mod hasn't been updated for a long time, and 1.6 and 1.7 came out recently. I found it extremely useful, and I would have decompiled and updated it myself, but unfortunately I've been having problems setting up Forge for 1.6.4. If somebody could please update it (and leave it the same way it was originally), I would much appreciate it. Thanks!
(PS, I'm still using 1.6.4 for personal reasons. PM me if you'd like to know why.)
(PPS, this is a rather simple mod; it hopefully shouldn't be too hard to find the obfuscated names in the decompiled Java code for the mod.)

Apparently it will be, but I haven't heard from a more recent update yet.

Besides, so far, the only source saying that the acquisition is bad are likely the same people that said that Jeb was ruining the game; and they haven't really been proven right yet, so don't count on this being the end. For now, I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope this turns out for the best.

Using hoppers, droppers, redstone and the nice new comparators, you can create a lock for a metal door. It doesn't need to be wooden or iron doors, it can be with blocks too if you know how to wire it properly, which I assume you do.

I see. In all honesty, their designs are pretty good-looking, but generally I wouldn't advise having a permanent tatoo for things that people can semi-easily lose interest in, such as video games, and they're hard to remove when you want them gone.
