The best/coolest thing I've seen utilizing the weighted pressure plates is Xisumavoid's mob valve. He discovered that the iron weighted pressure plate lets out its strongest signal when there are exactly enough zombies to get you to level 30. (Link below).
Of course with the enchanting process getting its update a few updates ago, we no longer use all levels when enchanting, sooo it doesn't have much use.
