On another note, I wish people would stop responding to this kids pointless inflamatory posts/threads. I can't believe the mods don't quash them after the first one.

    Quote from Morgasm92

Me personally, will miss the square ones. As It's minecarft and we know EVERYTHING to be cubed. So it will be missed by me.

Lunar phases may impress me enough so that i don't care, though :tongue.gif:

This poll will be a lot harder for people to **** with than the one Notch put up. Unless he wanted it to be a war of voting bots.

how about square moon WITH lunar phase?

I had assumed that was going to be the case if square wins.

posted a message on Strongholds - popular usage
    Quote from Zuzax

Ignoring the Ender Portals for now, what are you actually doing with Strongholds? I find myself harvesting books and looking in chests, but that's about it. Has anyone moved into one? Or made it into a bad-ass basement?

Is this another all dressed up and nowhere to go feature?

They don't even have the code polished to make them spawn properly without other garbage overlapping / punching through them. Once that is worked out I'll be a bit more concerned about having enough stuff in them to make them worth finding - not that the portal to The End and a few chests isn't enough.

posted a message on What's the point of enderdragons phasing through objects?

The dragons don't have avoidance behavior programed into them yet. If they didn't destroy these blocks they would just get caught on trees and mountains.

You mean to say the dragons wouldn't be fearsome or epic looking if they bounced around smacking their head against walls like the rest of the mobs? :tongue.gif:

posted a message on Terrain Generation Changes Remaining
For the people choosing Mountain/Extreme Hills as the biome most in need of changes, what is it about them that makes them such a priority? Their lack of snow covered rocky peaks, not appealing to an epic "mountain feel"? Perhaps the new generic appearance lacking trees and always being grassy, which comes from all other biomes seemingly losing topographical variation? I know I have seen a thread or two regarding a dislike of the supposed increase in their fantastic/flying appearance. Is it that they simply aren't or can't be tall enough to achieve a proper mountain look or scale?

Does anybody actually know if the Dragons will be ridable? I think that would be SO cool if they can be ridden!

Good gods I hope not. They're monsters, not pretty ponies.

    Quote from PsychoIncarnate

Technically it doesn't phase per se anymore because it destroys everything it touches.

But I agree. Why the phasing?

    Poor pathing.

    Quote from isaac_bardin

Totally agree with what the OP says. In 1.9, the world generation is fairly the same everytime. The huge annoying pine forests, the plains, and the deserts, with a bit of mountain and snow thrown in. What I would REALLY love is the old rainforest biome back. I miss that biome soooo much, and the forests in Minecraft need more variation than just pines, which are all that grow now.

Pine Forest has had its % or frequency increased in the generator, but the other types of forest biome are still around. Except Jungle, I am fairly certain that one vanished, or has been made so rare as to appear gone.

Jens did recently tweet that there were some tweaks to the generator needed, which or what kind he hasn't yet specified:

I think we still need to tweak biomes

posted a message on My thoughts on animal spawns changing.
    Quote from game011

    Hi there,

While looking at 1.9 pre releases, I noticed that animals won't respawn in 1.9. In my opinion I do not like this. It may make the game more fun but, now it seems like the game is getting a bit too hard.(Not saying that it is) I apologize if you don't like this but I am just showing my opinion to everyone. How about you? Do you like it or not?

    Thanks,
    Game011

They still spawn on sunlit grass like they used to, just at a much lower (1/400) rate than they used to.

The respawn rate does need to come up some, how much in numerical terms is hard to say. I think if we got one new animal every couple MC-days, that would be much more reasonable a natural respawn/breeding rate than what we have now.

Alternatively, the horny mode (+hearts) should be a state the animals can naturally acquire at a rate that would occasionally produce offspring. To prevent the wild populaitons from going extinct in existing chunks.

    Quote from MrMafia7

I think there should be an option to have diffrent color wolf collars, not just red. Like you could get diffrent colored dyes and right click on the wolf with them in hand to change they're collar color. Example: Blue

I'm more concerned with the color of my bed than the color of a line around my wolves necks.

    Quote from KEK Inc.

Altering the height limit outside of that scope will require another overhaul of the terrain generation, that may or may not be compatible with the old one.

The current, and forseeable, approach to changes in the terrain generator have been to simply treat what exists in an old map as a nigh-inert blob around which the terrain is generated anyway. Backwards compatibility has always been a minor concern.

I would expect the payoff of a more variant and flexible world building system to be worth the minor hiccup. The earlier they implement such an important change, the easier it will be to get over and move on.

posted a message on - LEAK - Inventory Update?
Out of curiosity and thoroughness, I made sure it was on the highest resolution and had better lighting:

This time we can note the black box that extends around "both hotbars." As well as the additional highlighting/edging the upper/in-use one has to separate it (most notable at the ends), though this could be viewed as shrinking of the lower/out-of-use bar or its icons.
