    Quote from dt41985

Calm down, they know about it and they are fixing it. The update is (hopefully) coming out sometime this weekend.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be released sometime Saturday. There was a bit of a discussion earlier with 303 on the IRC. Someone was arguing that because it was Saturday where they lived, it should be released already. 303 basically suggested that "your Saturday doesn't necessarily mean our Saturday."

Also this is speculation, but I hear they're waiting on one more component to be finished by one coder before release and it's one of the reasons for the delay.

posted a message on Flan's Mod 5.5.2 Update : 1.12.2, 100s of new Skins! : Helicopters, Mechas, Planes, Vehicles, 3D Guns, Multiplayer, TDM, CTF
For some reason, on my server, the planes lag horrendously. Through optimizing my start.bat file, I've managed to improve the control speed of planes, but it's still very much unplayable.

Planes fly forward at normal speeds but there is a massive latency in keyboard commands. I can see the flaps on the tail of the plane move when I press Shift and the Spacebar, but I have to hold it down for 3 seconds or longer before it snaps into a nosedive or a vertical climb.

Boats also have very mild lag. I'm not sure what's causing the issue, as normal minecraft activities are relatively smooth. This occurs even when I am alone on my server.

    My specs:

    AMD Phenom X4 940 3GHz
    2.5 Gb Ram

If anyone else has had this issue or has a possible solution, help would be greatly appreciated

For all those wondering why you can't pull the plane workbench out from the crafting window (e.g., rubberbands back), it means that you have the client correctly installed but the server is not. Note that you cannot mod the .exe version of the server software. You MUST use the .jar version at the bottom of the minecraft.net downloads page. It will work then. Hope this solves some problems.

If I may, I'd suggest keeping this version for those who play SSP and making the nerfed version for those playing online. I see no reason single player users should suffer because of server requirements. Just my two cents.

I haven't downloaded this, watched videos of it, or seen someone play it, but I pride myself being someone who doesn't use mods to get things and likes the challenge of hunting down my resources. If it is going to eat up all my coal reserves (which isn't much as of now) then should I even bother to download it? :/

At present, the mod doesn't use excessive amounts of coal (the same can't be said about iron, however). Since I use the Rways mod and have been making several planes, I got the ore trees mod to supplement my iron needs, I don't consider it "cheating" on the level of outright inventory editing because you still need to put some work in for renewable ore.

I haven't played minecraft since 1.5, but I read that planes now explode on crashing. Before, you were able to pick up all pieces when you crashed and re-craft. If the plane is destroyed either partially or wholly on crash, the resource requirement will definitely become unmanageable for someone playing legitimately. Wooden planes are resource friendly, however.

okay, I need an agreement, some people like roll controls, some people prefer the keyboard controls. I prefer roll controls and I believe that it would be very unfair to remove them because more people like the keyboard controls, which is the way the poll seems to be going. Flan apparently rarely pays attention to the thread, or he just doesn't feel like responding, which sucks because I really want him to listen. I if lots of people start agreeing with me and posting maybe we could get Flan's attention, assuming he occasionally reads the posts. I think that there should be a choice in the TXT or maybe a config file in which you can choose to use either the roll controls, or the keyboard controls. Who's with me?

I would support a txt or config file choice. Depending on the situation, roll controls might be better (e.g., dogfighting) and in others keyboard controls would be a better choice (e.g., sightseeing, leisure flying).

Hey Flan this is a great set of mods you've got here (I'm currently using the WW2 planes and vehicles mods. Simply epic, especially with the added achievements :Diamond: ) However, there's something I'd like to ask, and it would probably make a good poll question for the top of the thread for users to answer (not sure if it's already been asked in this 400+ page thread):

I know it's currently not the case (at least from what I see), since using a bigger engine only results in faster traveling with no drop in fuel efficiency. Realistically, a V8 would use more fuel than a V4 or V6, but it'll also move your jeep/plane/tank faster than a V4 or a V6 could. It's just a thought from what I noticed in-game, I'm not saying that you should change it (I don't even know if you CAN change it) :tongue.gif:. I'm not sure if anyone would want more realistic fuel efficiency based on engine size, but if such an addition is possible, it couldn't hurt to ask :cool.gif:

I would be opposed to this, unless the plane would burn more types of fuel (e.g., wood, charcoal). It has been slowly getting more difficult to build and maintain planes with legitimate resource access (i.e., no inventory editing, hacking items). I think the extreme cost of building a V8 rotary engine should be offset by faster speed without a ludicrous increase in fuel consumption, realism be damned.

For some strange reason, I can get Planes V12 to work fine by itself (no other mods), but when I install both Planes v12 and Vehicles v1, I am unable to craft anything but the basic biplane. Existing two-seater biplanes continue to appear in my inventory (without a tooltip), but cause minecraft to crash if I attempt to place them in the world. Are these two mods somehow incompatible in SSP?

The only other mod I have used on this save is Zan's minimap, which has never been an issue with planes installed. I've even tried an installation without it, and it yields the same problem. This has been my third attempt at an installation. Does anyone have any suggestions/possible solutions? Thanks in advance.
