I love the model but I have to say no to the chainsaw. It's just not realistic in any way, it seems pretty impossible that a lone wanderer would be able to master the art of crafting chainsaws.

This would be kind of nice actually, I've always had sort of a longing for a journal of my time in minecraft... Would probably pretty simple to add, and if you don't like it it's not like you have to use it.

I don't necessarily like or dislike it, but it does seem pretty much impossible to be able to find all the pieces of this "diary". You have to remember that minecraft generates a seemingly infinite world, and to be able to explore the entire thing and find all the pages, would take far too long for just one person to accomplish.

posted a message on Let us craft furniture?
Skipping nighttime is a bad idea if you ask me... It completely destroys the concept of "surviving the horrors of the night" when you can just sleep through it in a comfy bed. I'd like furniture as a decoration, but no more than that.

I like it. Adds even more of a thrill to exploring caves deep below the earth... where nobody can hear you scream...

I don't think it's a good idea to have certain monsters enabled/disabled. It seems to go against the point of the game. If you don't want to deal with monsters then you can just play on peaceful.

posted a message on Multiple Climate Areas
This is a collection of different possible climate areas that could be added to minecraft. Some are probably better than others but I think they are all pretty good ideas.

DESERT - These would be a large, barren, mostly flat area of (mostly) sand and stone. Definitely no grass. Lots of cacti scattered around, and scarce amounts of water. There would also be fewer (or no) animals. These would have to be pretty large areas, to simulate a true desert. There shouldn't be too many of them generated on one map as it would be pretty annoying to find over half of your world is a barren wasteland with practically no materials.

OASIS - A sub-climate of desert. These would be small pockets of water around which grass, trees, and other things that require water could form. These would be the only truly habitable places in a desert. These should still be fairly scarce, about 4-5 per desert.

SWAMP - Small areas that form around a pocket of mucky water (Someone else has already suggested something like this, but I'm going to anyway). These areas would form in areas of lower elevations (not on top of mountains) and would contain materials you can't find anywhere else. The first would be swamp water. It would look just like normal water, but with a slower animation, and more of a blue-green color. When swimming in swamp water you will move VERY slow (about 1 tile / 2 seconds, give or take). The other material would be sort of a mossy grass type thing (I'm not sure what it would be called) that would form over dirt instead of normal grass. It would act like snow, forming in a thin layer on top of dirt, and would have to be cleared before harvesting the dirt (unless you hit it on the side or bottom). This material would probably be useless as it is pretty useless irl, except that it would have a higher chance to produce seeds than normal grass. It would have a darker green color than normal grass.

Forest Medium areas of dense trees. Some should be so dense that it would be dark enough for monsters to spawn, simulating a "dark scary forest".

VOLCANO More of a land formation that a climate but I don't really feel like starting a new thread for it. These would pretty much be mountains, but with a deep hole near the summit. Over time, lava would slowly rise up from below until it overflows. When it overflows, it ill spill lava out onto the surrounding area, and then begin to recede after an amount of time. For this to be truly effective, there should be a new type of lava, "Volcano Lava". This new form of lava would look the same as regular lava, but would have some different characteristics. 1, it would be able to destroy ANY blocks touching the top of it. This would prevent the player from simply plugging a volcano. 2, It will destroy grass, wood, trees, and other flammable materials instantly upon contact. This will add more realism to a volcano eruption, and also add more of a challenge to settling near a volcano. 3, it should flow faster than regular lava, so it doesn't take 20 minutes for the lava to reach the bottom of the mountain. Any volcano lava collected in a bucket will become normal lava.
