posted a message on Vultures! Birds of prey XD (pics included, and model n' textures included ready for modders!)
I think it would be appropriate if instead of attacking you once you reached a certain distance, they should just follow you around for a while, and attack you if you're low on health. That would fit more with the popular image of a vulture circling above someone, waiting for their death, and it'd be interesting from a gameplay perspective to introduce new threats exactly when you don't want them.

I actually kind of like the idea of baby zombies being just as strong and durable as their adult counterparts. Being killed and reanimated at such a young age, they have more lifeforce to power the necrotic energy that animates them, compensating for their weaker bodies. However, their immunity to sunlight frustrates me to no end; if they want to make daylight hostile mobs they shouldn't be undead with a unique, inexplicable sunlight immunity.

Definitely support this idea. I'd love to be able to have a message carved in stone, or commemorate something with a gold plaque.

posted a message on All village houses should spawn with adequate torches in them.
I absolutely support. There are way too many houses generated without torches, or with no door; why on earth did the villagers even build them if they weren't going to make them zombie-proof?

posted a message on Balanced skin transparency.
I like this idea. It's been rather irritating to me for quite some time that I can't have skins that make me look like I'm floating around, or like I'm a skeleton with a transparent ribcage. While it's true that empty pairs of pants hiding in tall grass could be troublesome, that's simply a matter of having server settings that let them limit how much transparency is allowed.

Inb4 someone mentions Nina & Alexander

...Aaaaanyway, I think that something like this, sort of like spider jockey generation, could potentially work well, but I don't think there's enough different mobs, nor enough different body types for said mobs for the variety not to wear thin quickly. Plus, for mobs that use weapons or fly, it wouldn't exactly make a lot of sense to have what is supposedly a mindless beast do said actions.

Partial support, if we get more regular mobs.

Full support for this amazing idea.

You should add in what mobs it can take the actual bodyparts from. Like I'm unsure of whether or not it can have ender dragon part, like its head or wings. I assume it can't.

While chimeras could be limited to having body parts from preexisting mobs, this wouldn't necessarily have to be the case. Chimeras could be designed so that a chimera could have a chance of having the front body of a lion, the head of a goat, bird wings, and a fish tail, despite none of those creatures existing in Minecraft. This would mean more work creating models and textures, but that work could pay off later if the elements created for chimeras were recycled later, such as using the lion head used in chimeras to create an actual lion.

It's unique, I like this idea. We could have a bull-silverfish-leech chime- oh wait, that'd be copyright infringement. How much damage/hp/defense does a chimera have?

    Support

Damage, hp, and defense would all be variable, based on factors like body types and what types of powers it has. I'm thinking the average would probably be in the range of 75 hearts or so for health; considerably more than the average mob but not as tough as the Ender Dragon or the Wither. Damage... maybe three hearts on medium difficulty? I'm honestly not sure about these stats; they'd doubtlessly need playtesting.

posted a message on Randomly Created Chimeras
I suggest that a new, rare boss-like mob be added to the game: Chimeras. I'm not simply talking about the traditional chimera of Greek mythology, with the head of a goat, snake, and lion. No, these chimeras would be generated individually, so that no chimera is like another! (Or at least, it would be incredibly unlikely). To start, each chimera would be assigned one of several different basic body types: bipedal humanoid, four-legged, snakelike, etc.

Secondly, they would be assigned more specific features, such as how many heads it has. These characteristics would be informed by its basic body type, as one body type might look fine with as many as five heads while another might already look crowded at three.

Thirdly, they would be assigned animal parts- so a chimera that's been assigned a four-legged body with three heads might end up with the forelegs of a cow, the hind legs of a wolf, two sheep heads, and one human head. Similarly, a humanoid chimera could end up with a big, muscular body suitable for an ogre, bat wings, and the head of a wolf.

Lastly, it would have some kind of power selected from a list, possibly based on its component parts. The system could be designed to only give flight to a creature with wings, or it might let a creature made entirely of sheep and wolves teleport like an Enderman.

The drops of these mobs would be somewhat randomized, but they would invariably be worth the difficulty of slaying them; they would most likely drop things like random damaged pieces of armor (from the unfortunates it's previously beaten), various items that would have been dropped by its component mobs, as well as something based on the type of power it had (creatures with immensely strong hides might drop a special type of leather armor, while fire-breathing chimeras might drop blaze rods).

The chief difficulty of implementing such a mob would probably be the transitions between the various mismatched parts. It might be difficult to make the head of a wolf look convincing when placed on a body never meant to hold it. However, I'm quite sure it would be feasible- and if the end result looks like an unnatural abomination, then that's probably fine, because that's what it's supposed to be.

I like the basic idea immensely, although I'm not sure about some of the specific textures suggested. Green variants for Endermen and the Ender Dragon? I think I prefer them to have a uniform black/purple color scheme. Also, wither skeletons having a chance to look identical to regular skeletons would be very, very confusing.

posted a message on New sounds for some Blocks

Well that would be a VERY annoying thing for anyone in a survival base. What if you were multitasking and maybe renovating your furnace room or something but you wanted to get some stone or cook some steak? Even though I did say that there would be a slider to turn it on/off, I don't want to have the entire feature ruined because of one sound, therefore no one using it

It might not have to be annoying. If it's a fairly quiet, natural sound that blends into the background it's not likely to annoy people, and on the one occasion I found a sound effect that actually irritated me I just used a resource pack to get rid of it, meaning others could do the same for burning furnaces or brewing stands.

posted a message on Ambient nature sounds.
It seems this thread isn't really dead anymore... Support! One possible consideration- it might be a good idea to avoid the sounds of animals as ambiance, as it might be difficult to distinguish between, say, ambient bird chirps and the sounds made by an actual bird mob. I'd slightly prefer to have ambient sounds consist entirely of things like wind, the rustling of leaves, and the sound of ocean waves.

I like this idea... Not only would they be cool on their own, but there's all sorts of cool things that Mojang and modders could do building off of this idea. There could be mobs specific to ocean caves, like primitive and savage fish people, or you could catch bizarre cave-dwelling fish. It'd be a good place for a lot of ocean-themed content in general.

I like this idea, you have my support! However, I do have some suggested modifications: Instead of having the slope of the beach determined by the biome's temperature, simply have it determined by the nature of the terrain near the beach, as you can find steep drop-offs in warm climates and gentle inclines in cold areas in the real world.

I support the idea, but do have some concern regarding skeletons becoming too powerful as a result. Perhaps it would be suitable for a skeleton's attacks or perhaps arrows in general to have a reduced chance of having the extra effects.
