So I love MineOS it works perfectly for me now but a miscreant got to some of our server stuff and the most recent backup still has some things destroyed, how would I view and restore older backups?

So I finally got the ftp to work, but for some reason only after I've created at least one world.

Which is kind of problematic since I have to create a world just to delete it and re-upload my backup :X

So youre saying FTP has never worked on either of your fresh installs? Justto make sure I have the ordering correct, the server has worked for a few days, correct--and in that time, have you restarted the server at least once or was this the first time you have restarted it?

I'm surprised you would be able to host a minecraftserver at all if the hard drive did not mount, and any restarts should have reflected this earlier. If you've never restart the server, I'm assuming you may have run across errors during the install....meaning the server created was in fact a ramdisk server. SO to further troubleshoot, um.

Are you able to see if theres any errors that occur during installation? I'm led to believe that through the install process the drive designation part (where you type in hda/sda/etc) wasnt done properly. Lets see:

and what do you get when you type in: fdisk -l /dev/sda

The server actually worked perfectly for a week for me (Which included several server restarts which had no visible impact upon it) then I remember that I archived my worlds so that I could reinstall the server. No problem at that point.

It was right after I had re-installed MineOS that the ftp started reporting the error.
Every reinstall after that produced the same ftp error for me.

Soooo.... its not mounting your hard drive partition. Things like this don't typically just disappear or stop working, so, if you're able to recall....did anything happen before this stopped working, did you make any changes--try to...something that maybe only worked once, then stopped working today on when you restarted?

Of course, if you have done something before it stopped working, then it makes it a lot easier to troubleshoot, but diagnosing a fully-working-untouched-system-gone-bad opens a lot more venues.

What do you get with: fdisk /dev/sda1 -l

This is on a fresh install of both virtualbox and the OS itself.
(Re-installing didn't change anything, the ftp didn't work both before and after.)

    Response:	331 Password please.
    Command:	PASS *************
Response:	421 Unable to change root directory.
Error:	Could not connect to server

Reinstalled It on virtualbox several times, rebooted the computer.

    Worked fine until today.

Not sure what to do from here to fix it.

Edit: Specifically my issue is I am unable to connect to the FTP and receive this error every time, upon retrospect I realized this post wasn't clear on that :tongue.gif:

I assume by the lack of responses that this is a unique issue and I'm pretty much on my own here?

    Back to the grind then...

Has nothing else changed since today? Execute the following command and let me know what you get out of it:

    cat /etc/bftpd.conf | grep "ROOTDIR"

this should reply back with the path of your minecraft directory, which presumably would be .... /mnt/sda1/minecraft or something similar. Let me know what you get out of this, as well as the results of:

    ls -la /mnt/sda1/minecraft

(or whatever directory is given for rootdir)--I'm interested in the line labelled './'

I got a screencap of it so I wouldn't miss anything.
(Did the second one twice just to be certain about that end result)

What account are you trying to log in with? Are you using the "tc" account, or are you attempting to login with root?

I'm using the default "tc" and "minecraft2010" login, I've also tried changing the password to something custom.

It doesn't seem to be a username/password issue from what I can tell.
