    posted a message on 1.6.4 WikiLink 3.01.05d - FTB, Tooltips and More!
    I just released a new WikiLink version with a lot of core changes which will effect the update schedule in the future. I can now manage all of WikiLink's information including websites, google links, wikis, youtube videos and everything else WikiLink deals with and have the mod automatically receive that data.

    If you would like to see the data and perhaps help contribute, please visit my github! :)

    Some other changes include a few bug fixes with enchanted items as well as a separate wiki link that will direct you to the Minecraft wiki for that enchantment when searching enchanted books. I haven't made much leeway on the localization problems yet, but that's my next task.

    Cheers, and enjoy WikiLink 3.0.2.2r!

    The update is awesome, except that if you use a translated version of minecraft it's not going to work with a wiki. At least with the swedish version. I'm from Sweden and am a translator on the minecraft wiki. When I'm using the wikilink on a horse which is called "Häst" in Swedish it searches on the wiki for "Häst" although the minecraft wiki name is Horse/se. And also when I searched on google for "Bloodleaves" from Natura mod I got to "Natural high blood pressure". I think the easiest fix for that is to just add "Mod" after it or "Minecraft" or "Minecraft Mod". Is it possible to fix this?

    Also I discoverd that you can't really search for something like "water". Because it targets the block underneath the water then. If you hold a bucket of water in your hand, it's gonna search for "Water Bucket".

    Oh, you're actually a translator on the Minecraft wiki? I've been looking for someone like you to explain to me how all of the translations work. I kind of half-assed the searching for translated items because I was a bit uneducated about it, but that will be fixed next update. Also, the liquids problem is something that ProfMobius has fixed in his mod and I need to talk to him about it. I just haven't had time, but I will see what I can do to improve that keybind feature.

    Seems like a really neat mod, especially for the youtubers and streamers.
    Limiting alt+tab time and sharing the link with your viewers is almost impossible without something like this (Or manual labor, but who does that anyway).

    Also I wouldn't mind taking a shot at making a mod spotlight, I could make it from scratch, but I'd love to get some pointers on things you'd like me to show off.

    And then a final idea. You mentioned a video search option, maybe getting someone to make short 30-60 second video's fore every item (group).
    Visuals always help more than text. Would be a huge project though, especially if you plan to implement all the FTB mods.

    Keep up the good work!

    You can definitely make a video spotlight! I have been waiting for someone to come around and decide I was worthy enough for one :P If you shoot me a pm I can get you a list of all of the features WikiLink has, or you can find my skype name in my profile somewhere. And as for your 30-60 second shorts that can be implemented into the mod, heck yeah. I linked a couple of channels in the OP that do something similar, and if you or anyone can make videos with good quality like that, I'll definitely be willing to work with you.

    WikiLink has been updated to a beta version. Please help me test out the new features and report bugs by downloading WikiLink 3.01.05d!

    Change Log
    + Scrollbar inside of the menu
    + Tooltips while hovering buttons
    + Tooltips now display live youtube data
    + Feed the Beast partnership/wiki summary pages
    + WikiLink can now pull info from the feed the beast wiki pages and display them. Items that have summaries available will enable the "?" button in the GUI.
    + /wlreload <videos/config> commands for my personal use, but devs might find it useful.
    + Started on the localization project
    + Added Minecraft forum thread system. Links to mod threads will slowly start popping up after a few updates.
    + Live video list downloading. This will make for less manual downloads from the user.
    + Added a new keybinding that will get the block/monster you are looking at and open it in the GUI menu.

    Another update:

    I have been working really hard on this, so I hope you guys like it!

    If you can't tell from the picture, tooltips have been added in the upcoming version (unreleased)! They can display extra information about a link including information from Youtube! :)

    I am currently doing code checks / squashing final bugs! There's only a couple more things on my todo list for this next version!

    This helps a lot. Does this work with searching on google? if it works, is it possible to add extra strings to the search for example: Melon and then add "minecraft" after it?

    I'm not sure about the currently released version of WikiLink having Google support like that, but I have already added that to the next version. By default, you will be able to complete a Google search based on item name and mod name, as well as an option for the "I'm feeling lucky" in Google's search engine as well. As of right now, there is no way for you to make the default search system Google :/

    Could you also add Technic's wiki. They have always had rather organized pages.

    Yes, indeed I can. I will be working on adding the larger wikis based on the mods that they support. That is coming in the next update as well as some new systems I have been working on with the Feed the Beast crew. Thanks for the suggestion :)

    I'm a bit curios how I change the default wiki from feed the beast wiki, I've seen the stuff in the config file but doesn't really understand how that works.

    It is possible, yes, but it's fairly complicated. I really wish there was a somewhat easier way to do it, but every wiki is different and it would be fairly hard to get it to where all you have to do is change the web address.

    So here is how it works:
    "default wiki options"
    {
        S:defaultWikiDisplay=Feed the Beast Wiki
        S:defaultWikiDomain=wiki.feed-the-beast.com
        S:defaultWikiSoftware=MEDIAWIKI
    }

    In the config you will see what is above. The first line is the display name of the wiki. This is what will appear in the boxes of the GUI when the Feed the Beast wiki is added. You can technically change this to anything you want such as "Default Wiki" or "Cloudy Skies Wiki"

    The second line is also fairly self explanatory. This is the "domain" or "web address" of the wiki website you want my mod to connect to. This should look something like "www.example.com" or "wiki.example.net" or something similar. You can not include any backslashes or http:// strings because the released version of WikiLink does not have the ability to remove them :P

    The third line is probably the hardest to decipher. The "Software" is the type of software that the wiki is running. Some pretty popular examples are Wikia, PHPWiki, MediaWiki, WikiDot, WikiSpaces, ect. These all correspond to an "enum" in the code that have a special character string attached to them. This is how WikiLink knows what to put after the domain in order to conduct the search.

    A full list of the enums are as follows. I don't have them in the config file because I really never expected anyone to do this :P I guess I was wrong. If you don't know which code to pick, just reply with the url of the wiki and I will find it for you :)

    WIKIA, MEDIAWIKI, DOKUWIKI, PHPWIKI, WIKIDOT, WIKISPACES;

    I hope this helps.

    Translated pages on the wiki are in the format <english name>/sr(for serbian translation).
    P.S. I can words(I am really tired and I usually derp a lot then)

    Oh, I didn't realize it was like that. I can most likely search the wiki by the english name of the item, and based on the language the user is using in game I can just direct them to the translated page. :)

    Let me tell you something sir: You are bloody genious.(Must admit that I didn't have enough time to check out the mod itself) I heard that you are working on integration with FTB wiki. Well, I am part of FTB wiki Translators and would love to translate your mod.

    Wow :D Thanks very much. I don't really have anything to translate except 2 keybindings and about 5 buttons, but I will be adding some fancy tooltips later so I will definitely contact you. :)

    The thing I have noticed the most when it comes to translations for items/pages is that the item names in Minecraft are not always consistent with the item names on the wiki, so it makes it very hard for my mod to seek out the pages. Perhaps we can talk with Jin about ways around this or some solutions we could try. :P

    posted a message on NPEs in GUI code
    Quote from coolAlias

    Where do you set the screenTitle and width of your Gui? Perhaps one of those is the NPE culprits.

    An easy way to tell is to put them each on a separate line:
    this.drawCenteredString(
    this.fontRenderer,
    this.screenTitle,
    this.width / 2,
    40,
    16777215);

    That breaks up the method call so your crash log will tell you exactly which field is null.

    Damn. I've been programming for a while and I didn't even realize this lol. 1up to you buddy.

    If you're using Eclipse, use the search function. :) It helps A LOT when finding things in the source. Just go up to the top menu, hit "Search" and type your query into the File Search tab.

    It opens a box below where your console usually is with every class that uses "FoodStats"

    Sounds neat and all, but I have no idea what mods are in the pack because it doesn't say in the post. ;) And as for the first FAQ, you should try a mod called WikiLink.
