posted a message on what is the worst grief you have had
Some random douche last year in early July kept following me around and griefing my huge glass water elevators for boats with built in slides, that ended on large glass department stores with a sandy water area on-top to where the slide stopped.

He got about 3 or 5 of them...honestly, some people have nothing better to do.

You're complaining about something that's already perfect. I'm now confused. What does the minecraft community want, imperfect or perfect?

No, to me and others it's not perfect. It's use is so little or, like that one guy pointed out with creeper-use, so useless, that it's just taking up ID space. It's just not doing much. Now look, look at it this way: You get stone, you mine awhile for iron, and you ration out your stone picks with iron to increase it's longevity, then find diamond; all have heavy use as tools. But wood is seemingly completely optional. I believe we need to blend all the tool-tiers together so everything works in a nice system; start off fresh, wood for awhile, then stone, iron, diamond, etc. It's just a waste of ID space at the moment. Me and a couple buddies only make wooden picks because it's nearly pointless to make any other wooden tool.

    Quote from Vilborg

Wood is a building material, the tools aren't supposed to be used more than necessary. You could use them to be 'quaint' or whatever, but stone is technological progress. There shouldn't be incentive to downgrade.

Like I said, extending the tool-tier use by blending it better into the system.

I usually spend my first day collecting sugar cane and mushrooms and just lead a creeper down a hole and let him blow up some cobble. No need for wooden tools.

Yet more proof of how useless they currently are. I only see them being used for challenges in survival maps.

Well they still could be buffed in some way. Maybe less hunger depletion when destroying blocks with them or faster speed while blocking with a wooden sword. Wood is a far lighter material than stone or iron after all.

Thank you. More purpose for these tools would be great, cause as of now, you only see it for a short window of time, and then never see it again for that world. And yes, as others said (not directed towards you, just those saying) cobblestone (and stone, via smelting of cobble) IS a renewable resource.

Wooden tools pretty much work like this: Make wooden pickaxe > mine 3 stone > make stone pickaxe = no more need for wooden tools.

yeah, sure, but wood is a very renewable resource. You can find it literally anywhere. We don't need stronger wood tools, they're a primitive kind of tool.

I find it much more the opposite, since natural stone is the second most occuring block in MineCraft, next to air.

And it's not that I find the tools weak no, not at all, it's more that once I get stone, they have no more use for me on that world. Just read my opening statement a little more carefully.

I just hate how seemingly useless wooden tools are. They're just so...short-lived. I mean, make a wooden pick, get 3 stone blocks and poof. No more wooden tools.

I've partially remedied this myself by changing the stone tool recipes to require smooth stone rather than cobble, but that only has it's limited use.

What do you think? Votes are greatly appreciated.

Meh, might be troll, don't really care if so.

But I just checked (in creative) with his seeds and cords, and only got normal stuff from digging in a 3x3 hole from that exact spot.

So, it most likely was a chunk glitch; sometimes, previous MC data of worlds (whether still in the saves folder or deleted, don't remember) can get loaded glitchy or in whole chunks into brand new chunks (areas) generated.

Just to help clear this up.

Your PC is decent, it's just MineCraft's sloppy code, which, luckily, Jeb and .Co are fixing up in the future updates.

But in the meantime, download OptiFine. It works wonders.

posted a message on Creepers will open doors in 1.2?
I hope during further refinement of this idea, they consider some things:

1: If they should be able to bust down doors, make that the case only for wooden ones, and give the player some time to react (like, they bang on the doors three times (indicated by a banging sound), then open the door with a loud bang sound. Would be interesting. But again, only for mobs in pursuit, not ones chilling outside that happened to wander over.

2: Would give iron doors much more of a use and make them more of a necessity to obtain.

3: Perhaps longer beating-open-the-door times for mobs which pose a higher threat? Creepers would perhaps be the slowest, giving player more than enough time to react and prepare/flee, than say a lowly zombie that, while an easy foe, has superior strength and is able to bust down a door in little preparation time. Almost reminiscent of the zombies in RE.

All around a good idea I think, provided there's sound indicators and some time of preparation.

Wonderful. Glad to see Jeb is wisely choosing to polish and refine MineCraft instead of adding more and more. Plus, on a side-bonus, it also gives players more time to get more time in with what the game is now.

    Good plan Jeb.

I love both generations styles to be honest, and in my opinion the newer generation style has a bit more realism to it, but that doesn't effect how much I like it.

Would be cool if Jeb made the older generation style appear more and more frequently the farther away from spawn you moved (like getting to the farlands, and the generation gets more and more strange.)

Just wondering. I saw the mod and how it had fully working redstone in it's tiny blocks so I instantly wondered.

Now....Just imagine how much power and data and RAM you could store by going tiny....Truly amazing.

posted a message on [32x][1.0.0] Decraftik v2.1 Retired
Congratulations on making my favorite texture pack of all time! I just want to report one bug I'm getting:

The chest and double chest have a graphical error on the part that seperates; like the texture is overlapping another on 2 horizontal lines of pixels. I'm pretty sure it's the chest's opening issue as when it opens this isn't visible whatsoever.

And yes, I patched my jar, other texture packs 32x and higher work just fine.

    Thanks for your time!
